The dawn of mankind is officially here. A recent poll from Singapore revealed that women managed to outperform men in the manliest games of all - crypto trading:
"As per the survey data, 76% of women reported either making money or breaking even on their crypto investments, compared to just 72% of men"

Since it looks like the answers were self-reported, there's a chance that women may not be telling the truth, to make themselves look better. But maybe there's something in the female approach to trading that would explain it (i.e. higher risk aversion?).

There are two things that come to mind which could explain this statistic, the first one is that as you mention maybe there is a difference on the risks taken and women are investing more on bitcoin while men are taking their chances with altcoins, another explanation could be that maybe the number of women investing in this market has increased recently and they were able to buy most of their holdings during the 2022 bear market for a cheap price, while the men are still suffering from the aftereffects of buying during the bull run and they are still losing some money.

Whatever the reason, I'm glad there are more women investing in crypto. Bitcoin has brought us equality between the poor and the rich, where everyone can invest in bitcoin and have the same chance to become rich, unlike other assets that can only invest when we have a substantial amount. Likewise, we should also have more female investors to make things more equal. What we can do, women can do better than us. I would love to read these news, I will tell my wife this, I also want her to enter the market, but I can't convince her yet.

How many women participated in the survey? I do have a friend from Singapore and fortunately she is girl and aware of the name bitcoin but still thinks its something related to scam even I talked to her about that a week ago if I am not wrong so that is what the status when we are talking about majority so don't differentiate men and women here, cause even both combined we still need mountains to climb to reach some milestone.

Maybe your girl friend is only among of those 24 percent who didn't believe in crypto. Bitcoin is not new anymore and I rarely heard news that Bitcoin itself is involved in scams but it was only other cryptos or companies. Bitcoin value declined by some percent but it's just normal.

If your friend or someone is truly curious about something else, they better investigate further to know the truth and don't just believe on what they see online or in the media because not all of them are true. We are not talking about achievements or milestones but the topic is only showing that girls are now outperforming boys when it comes to crypto trading. There is nothing is wrong with it but some men are proud of it in fact.

Although I could doubt the survey results, one fact is that regardless of their gender, it is always possible to engage in trading or investing in crypto. Even if the government can confirm some genders, there is always the possibility of getting them in investment and trade.

Investing and trading is about realizing one's potential of possible returns, so it doesn't matter who outperforms who including gender. We also won't know for sure that in the long term the forum will also have more women than it does now.

I’m not sure I believe how accurate this data is, but if I were to make an assumption about why it could be true… I would say that historically speaking the holders of Bitcoin have done quite well where traders have not. So perhaps women are buying and stacking while men think they can trade and outperform leaving them to find out the hard way that isn’t easy. Seems logical to me.

You could be spot on here. The survey was done on "unbiased sample of everyday Singapore residents", so casual people rather than skilled traders. And when you're not skilled and can't do a proper analysis, it's best to invest in well-established crypto and just sit on your hands until profit. Women with their higher risk aversion are more likely to do that.

That being said, since the results are self-reported, I wouldn't be surprised if both groups were lying big time. The survey was conducted in February 2023, when crypto is still in the bottom as compared to its ath, so the range of 70%-80% of people making a profit sounds highly improbable, unless they only considered changes in value in the lat month or something like that.

Other than the topic discussed, there are quite a lot of other, interesting stats in there. Here are a few:

If an exchange who has conducted mandatory KYC has released a report then that would be considered authentic but this is just a theory that some of the users that participated in the self reported survey claim that they are female but considering Singapore government has a positive attitude towards the entire cryptocurrency space, the rest of the things said in the article might be true that they are positive in the long run and would diversify their portfolio in the coming years.

Adoption has increased because most women stay at home, I think it is the right decision for women to enter the crypto world which does not require as much energy as jobs out there, women in a country like Singapore certainly have a high level of education and understanding so they are women it understands how crypto can provide them with an income that is more than their husband or father's salary. I'm not saying that men are low but they are average in orientation thinking about physical strength and suit or field.
I think that's a factor of the rampant adoption. in terms of why women gain more, I think because basically women have tenacity, patience and thoroughness in financial matters and as we can see, for example, women often bid on goods when shopping anywhere, so the risk-taking and strategic approaches are quite effective and generate more profits. than most men do.

There is a compelling fact that this survey is wrong because its results are not accurate which is something we should all look at in the meantime because women do not have the resilience for long term most especially when the odds are going against them, trading is a volatile adventure that requires much input and waiting period, women may not have that time, and tend to lose interest in a short period.

Men are more prevalent investors in the industry because both tech and finance have more men than women, and men seem to tend to get onboard with "riskier" things than women. But its such a weird thing to compare trading profits between men and women, as though one's gender would play any role at all in how well they trade. Got it right, even on those typical sports or even with activities on which women is really been highly criticized which they shouldnt really be doing that because it is really just for masculine and not for feminine approach.This is why this had been keep on continuing on having this kind of approach on where there's really some discrimination or belittling about in between gender without even trying out to realize

Does depend because it would always matter on someones experience if we do speak about impulsive reaction because even if you are a man or women but still you dont have that sufficient experience on the field,
you would definitely making up some impulsive reactions which would cause up those actions which arent really that worth.This is why you cant really be able to point out whether you are a girl or boy,

Generally women are more patient or focused on goals, when I went to school to college, most of the class winners were women, the nature of women who focus on goals and are not easily distracted makes them successful compared to men who are mostly impatient, when women enter crypto then she is more able to control emotions than men.

The survey was ordered by the exchange but conducted by 3rd party. My objection to self-reported results is not that some men could pretend to be women, but that people are not the best in keeping a track of their profits/losses plus they'd often lie even to themselves. It's just like when you ask an average gambler how is he doing profit-wise, most would tell you they're around the break-even position or on a small profits, while statistically that's very far from the truth.

So it's fine to say men are better in tech and finance, it's fine to say that there are differences in risk appetite between genders, but to say that this could translate to differences in trading performance is weird and unimaginable to you?
