I walk into a shopping mall and I saw simplicity of life, that's the mall makes things easier for customers. There is several terminal machines and electronics device that calculate items as soon as you pick anything and before you're done shopping the electronics machine knew the total price already. Payment was excellently quick and sharp, you made payments with digital currency (bitcoin and ETH), gifts cards.

Of course, we wanted everything to be simply in life, we don't even want to go into line in a physical store and we wanted to get out and pay as soon as we able to get the items needed and pick it up. So I like the concept though, but I haven't seen one. And the closest that I have been using my bitcoin is to pay online using our local exchange and third party coins.ph. They have options of gift cards if I'm not mistaken, but I haven't tried it.

I guess fiat will still be there no matter what and won't get obsolete even if we go digital and cashless in the future. But the good thing is that we have other options now and most advance countries in Europe are going cashless society with their credit cards and other mode of payment, it might include Bitcoin and Ethereum or any other cyrpto or CBCD.

Knowledge is the key to advancement because there's no time and we need to adapt to the modern world, everything is changing with time. Payment method should include some digital process like accepting Bitcoin as general means of payment. Bitcoin improving with standardized form and businesses that accept it as means of payment have already welcome the digital money age. Some people doesn't like stress, like going to the bank ATM machine to withdraw cash before paying for something, whereas you can pay online with just transferring your Bitcoin to another address responsible for the bills.

It means that we are still early right now. If you can imagine this right now, I believe it will happen in the future, just a matter of time.
Technology is evolving too fast and I believe as time goes by, technology is giving us more to live comfortable. The best example of that is Bitcoin, a digital currency.
The best example I believe in the future that will be a real-life use case is the lightning network of Bitcoin.

That is likely more predictable with the help of innovations and technology advancements. Sooner, we can see all are in digital payments and physical money will be in oblivion. Right now, we are still preparing for it and with the help of bitcoin, we are starting to be trained to live like that so we will more likely to benefit in the future. They need to implement Lightning Network, otherwise no one will want to pay a few dollars fee for a single shop visit, and the merchant will have to deal with potential double spending scams if they accept unconfirmed transactions.  This is if we are talking about accepting actual Bitcoin and not some custodial IOU like what PayPal is doing.

Good advice. I always recommend using the Lightning Network if you want to accept Bitcoin as payment because the fees are very cheap and the amount used can also be very small, depending on how the shop owner manages it. That way it will be more efficient in terms of cost and speed.

Paypal and amazon only add bitcoin, not implementing bitcoin technology into their network.
So it makes no difference paypal accepts bitcoin or not.

The Bitcoin dream is slowly but surely becoming a reality. The dream is not really to replace fiat. It is almost impossible to replace fiat. Governments will not simply give way to a digital currency which is decentralized and made by an unknown person. It is possible in countries where cryptocurrency is legal. Developed countries are becoming digital day by day and their activities are becoming digital.But countries where cryptocurrency is illegal are just dreams.I have noticed that some countries have introduced these systems.I have seen many people shopping with Bitcoin in several shopping malls. This system exists in other countries like the ATM machine of our country.So digital systems save time and make payments very easy.  But this program can be expensive to get this benefit in all countries.

I haven't tried this kind of payment method in our place but at our local shopping stores, they have already been accepting selected cryptocurrencies as means of payment. it's nice to see such improvement these days and maybe we might see more stores in the future accepting bitcoins as if it's just some normal currency. Yeah! I believe Amazon has started a couple of similar stores in Europe where you won't have to stand in the payment queue. You just add items to your basket and leave the store. The payment will be deducted from your Amazon wallet. But I don't know if such innovative solutions are available for crypto payers or not. I guess not!

There is an alternate way to pay through cryptocurrency. There are websites like Bitrefil or Coinsbee from where you can buy digital gift cards from various brands and use them in retail stores or in their e-commerce platforms. I have personally used services from Bitrefil so I have found them useful. But their fees are somewhat higher than the market price of the coin. But yes, that's what you are paying for convenience.

Yeah. Paying bills using digital currency cards or gift cards is so convenient and it is also a good gift idea. Payment using digital currency is not that widespread yet because it is a new concept and many businesses may not understand yet how it works or how to adapt it into their existing payment systems. Also, some businesses may be hesitant to accept digital currency because of the potential risk of losing its value.

About a month ago I was searching an option to buy an antivirus for lower price than asked. Several platforms offer such option (dont know how it really work, do they use stolen credit cards to pay for digital products, payment from other region or share their accounts) and had option to pay in crypto, or in digital currency like Webmoney, Steam money, PayPal and etc. What amazed me, that paying directly in crypto was more expensive than turning crypto into fiat and pay or deposit amount to virtual card and with it.

I happened to use, a few years ago, a very famous service that allowed me to pay for online goods in bitcoin at an advantageous rate.
Unfortunately some users used the same service to cash out dirty money. And this gave me some headache!

OP, I can see you are a Nigerian and the cashless policy initiated by CBN is making people to look for alternative sources of payment other than the traditional fiat and bank transfer. I always admire it when I see businesses coming up multiple means of payment as people can opt to used BTC, ETH, USDT, gift card etc. in place of the government-control currencies and this does not only make things easier for the customers but it also help in the growth of the business.

I remember working in an hotel as a receptionist. A customer booked for a room and paid with bitcoin. He didn't inform me that he paid with crypto, so i taught it was a normal bank transaction.
I tried checking for his payment, but didn't receive it on time. The transaction came very late after waiting patiently.

My main idea here is that for crypto currency transactions to run smoothly, Crypto Companies and local banks should figure out ways in which this transaction runs very fast.
Because, the more in delay of every transaction, the more users loses interest.

Of course, I don’t think people will start using cryptocurrencies as a currency if they won’t realized it’s value and potentials in the first place. I bet once they know that it’s more profitable as an investment, people will chose to save and invest crypto rather than spending it. But with global adoption hopefully in the future, cryptocurrencies should be used by that time not just a sole investment but definitely as a currency like what it is designed originally.
