Hi guys!

Can you guys comment on the crypto-related problems that you guys are facing currently in Ireland or The Netherlands?

I am considering moving to one of these two countries because of a job offer!
I do own crypto but I would like to know the problems that Irish and Dutch people face when it comes to crypto.

Any comment would be welcome!

Many thanks in advance!

What's your use-case op?

I'm not from there but if you're trading, I would check with the centralized exchanges you use (if any) if there's gonna be a problem with them as well as the crypto tax laws that may apply in your case, read this guide for general information: https://koinly.io/guides/

Meta: probably move this in beginners and help as well so you get more responses?

As far as I know, the Netherlands has a population of only 17 million people. Now, regarding this country's handling of cryptocurrency, it has had restrictive cryptocurrency regulations.

This in my opinion has a big impact on crypto businesses
there is in the Netherlands, and even among crypto enthusiasts of course. In addition to this, their government did this for AML which is often implemented.

Hey, congrats on the job offer! I live in Netherlands and use XGo for some transactions. It's user-friendly app and I never encountered any problems. Their WalletID feature is great. It links your funds to virtual cards so you can spend your fiat and crypto without worrying about conversion rates or merchant acceptance.

Hi guys!

I don't live there so I don't know much about it, but from what I know that every country treats crypto differently. If these two countries allow bitcoin/crypto as a tradable commodity asset for me that's more than enough.

Unless you intend to develop a cryptocurrency business and obviously you have to pay attention to the regulations of the country you want to go to and you also have to pay attention to how that country enforces rules and taxes in this industry.

I am considering moving to one of these two countries because of a job offer!
I do own crypto but I would like to know the problems that Irish and Dutch people face when it comes to crypto.
I tried to browse the internet and try to find out how the two countries treat crypto and it turns out that the Netherlands is one of the countries that are friendly to crypto, thus allowing you to continue to be in trading for the foreseeable future.

To be clearer, you can read the several sources that I have listed, but for Ireland there may be a number of things that you should learn, as the sources that I have attached below?

Just a heads-up OP

Beware of users such as @Honnet43 who suggested a rather suspicious service. XGO is employing a number of shills to reply in different threads lying to people how great the service is yet it barely has any online presence.

Read through this thread, and you will know why you can't such a service that used shills.

Both countries ireland and the netherlands have different laws regarding crypto that's for sure, maybe @ancafe has told you a little about the laws that apply in ireland.

While crypto developments in the Netherlands, you can discuss here, because Bitcointalk has a Dutch locale where you can get a lot of information about crypto.

Dutch Locale: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=79.0

There you can find anything you want about crypto, such as: markets, mining and other development news related to crypto, especially the Dutch region.

My advice is if you want to move to a country between the two, choose one, choose the Netherlands, so you don't miss any information about crypto and you can discuss it here.

I've read this article: The Ultimate Guide to Ireland Cryptocurrency Taxes in 2022
And that means that crypto there is totally fine in Ireland and you can use that reference to know if it fits your expectation or not there.
While on this article: Crypto Travel Rule in The NetherlandsbyDe Nederlandsche Bank (DNB)
It's said that crypto there isn't banned but they don't consider it as digital money, so from these articles as basis it can be said that both countries are good with crypto.

If OP only got a job in Portugal... because many people I know who hold coins go there because of their Bitcoin friendly regulations.

But I think that Ireland or Netherlands, although not so crypto-friendly, are also good places to go to live and work without many problems with cryptos. Just remember that there are some actions that can be considered taxable events there, so you are doing the right thing informing yourself before moving.

Hey! In both Ireland and the Netherlands, taxation on crypto can be a bit complex. It's important to understand the tax regulations and reporting requirements to stay on the right side of the law. Consulting with a tax advisor specializing in crypto might be helpful. Wishing you success with your move and job opportunity!
