Only Binance has it's own terminal app or software for desktop most exchanges use 3rd party terminal like Kucoin exchange use margin.de and OKX exchange looks like they use Tradingview.

I think the main reason is that they don't have a budget to maintain it and they just want to avoid any possible leaks. There are lots of alternative to use like tradingview or MT5 so it won't be a problem if other exchange do not have terminal app.

I think it's because your typical crypto user is totally fine with using a web app when talking about using a computer.

As for actual professional traders, they usually have custom-made trading terminals or simply use 3rd party ones(tabtrader, 3commas, etc).

there is just a sort of loyalty if the exchange releases thier own and it seems worth paying that trading fee than using the browser base. MT5 i think can be easier for them to modify as every FX broker did the same. if they are going to compete Binance, its got to be one of the fields to also cover.

I believe that OKX also has a desktop app, but I'm unsure how it compares to the web version's performance. As others have mentioned, most exchanges do not offer a desktop app because maintaining it can be resource-intensive. Also, most traders find it unnecessary, normies like myself prefer web and mobile app, while the experienced traders often prefer using dedicated trading terminals for flexibility and cross-exchange capabilities.

What is the benefit that the application can offer you that does not contain the browser? In fact, the main purpose of creating an application is to exploit your device's physical resources (RAM, or graphics card), which are two things that you do not need in trading apps, so there is no point in creating an application.

Overall, do trading bots work? They are applications and provide the same services.

There are several other crypto exchanges with good trading apps/terminals for computers besides Binance, including:

Coinbase Pro
Kraken
Bitfinex
Bitstamp
Gemini
KuCoin
Huobi

Regarding why crypto exchanges are not developing trading terminals for PC, it could be due to a number of factors such as the focus on mobile trading, the cost of developing and maintaining a desktop trading platform, or the belief that the web-based version is sufficient for most traders.

However, it's important to note that some exchanges do offer desktop trading apps, and the popularity of these platforms may increase in the future as more traders demand them.

I know there are web versions, but I believe apps are the in thing when it comes to any major platform.
The second exchange that I used was OKX that time, if you used the web version on computer, you can see a link that you can download their computer app before login in. But it is nothing more than the web version. Only Binance has been the one that I used that actually got its own different computer app which is very cool to use and very encouraging.

I think the main reason is that they don't have a budget to maintain it and they just want to avoid any possible leaks. There are lots of alternative to use like tradingview or MT5 so it won't be a problem if other exchange do not have terminal app.
I do not think so, thes exchanges have million number of users, but they just did not work on having computer app is what I think. But money is not their problem, although they will spend more if they want to have a computer app.

I believe that OKX also has a desktop app, but I'm unsure how it compares to the web version's performance.
It is just the 100% copy of their website, nothing added and nothing removed.

There are probably too few and won't be even worth the time to try since web versions still work fine right now. Even I don't use the Binance desktop app since I feel more comfortable with using my phone plus if there's really a need to use my pc to trade, the web version works well for me already. Maybe that's the reason why exchanges do not bother to, nor prioritize creating desktop exchange applications since there's not much of a need for it yet. They probably see it as an investment that isn't worth the resources needed.

There is probably not enough demand within the general public or normal traders for having desktop applications since most of the traders either use mobile applications or the web version which works fine for any exchange when you are using a PC or a laptop, I myself have never had any wish for an exchange that I use to have a desktop application.

Even if they go for it, it will be an extra burden for the management considering the constant updates and maintenance that the application would require and there can also be other vulnerabilities that are not there in a web version like malware, etc.

It's basically nothing but a chromium-based browser that only loads their site with their non-custodial wallet pre-installed as an extension. I definitely don't see the point in using it:

What do desktop trading applications from centralized exchanges provide?

I don't want to install their applications on my computer if I don't have to and I am happy as they don't force me to do this to use their exchanges.

My computer resources should be used for other things. It is also because I don't believe that using their desktop applications will hep me to gain better privacy or anonymity and rather than that I think it only helps them to collect more data from my devices.

If I use some exchanges, what will I know if my computer get compromised? I will not know what applications to put my doubtful investigation on.

I believe if they develop application but don't force users to use it, like Microsoft forces Windows users to use Microsoft Edge, no one will have idea to use it.

I have now noticed that @OP is looking for applications for (Windows, macOS, Linux), which means more headache for platforms without really interest.

Oh well, I thought it was a native desktop application, given the rather large file size. In that case, yeah, no point in using it at all. Thanks for trying it.

Who gave them this idea, for a while I saw that they updated the ideas offered by Binance, but this idea looks very bad.
They probably want to get more users to use OKX wallet, but this seems very low effort and rather lackluster.

I know there are web versions, but I believe apps are the in thing when it comes to any major platform.
Some well known platforms I think have them, Binance is one of them. But if it comes from another platform that is not reputable among traders, then I think it is a wasted effort. Actually I haven't tried any desktop app or mobile app other than Binance although some well known exchanges like OKX have them too.

For my local exchange, several exchange also have mobile app that are compatible with IOS and Android (Tokocrypto and Indodax). But about the experience of use, it just depends on the preferences of each. I myself use binance and several local exchange including the mobile app and web versions.

It is because you are only using the phone app and have not tried the desktop app before. I too prefer to use phone to trade but I also use laptop for it, especially when I want to get far from the screen as my laptop is almost all the time connected to the TV in my room.

If you have a desktop or laptop, you can try and use both the website and also use the desktop app and see how different they are and how better it is on the desktop app. I have used the three before and I prefer just the mobile and desktop app than the web.

Although, I can say that preference also matters.

Yup, have already tried it several times since it is much easier to do technical analysis on a desktop. I only use the web version on desktop whenever I am at home and using tradingview and checking charts. But if not or if not much analyzing is needed, I only use my mobile phone. Now having been able to try the app for myself, it's good but not something that I totally need at the moment. Like you said, it may be a matter of preference and the type of utilities that a user is looking for. Like if someone just wants to do simple and fast trading, the web browser would suffice but if someone wants to utilize more of Binance's features then I guess the app would be a better choice.
