5 years is a very long time, and there will be a lot of changes in the market. Aside from BTC and ETH, I really don't believe in any other coin, not just your list but the entire market, there won't be any altcoins worth betting on in the next 5 years.
As we have seen, altcoins are constantly being replaced after each bear season, and there is no guarantee that coins like ADA, DOT, and SOL...will not be replaced by new names like APT, ARB, layerzero, Aleo...and there are many potential projects under development. My view on investing in altcoins is to limit investing in old altcoins and instead wait for new projects after each bear season ends.

If I will pick on the choices you shared, I will go with DOGE. Remember the person who spend everything that he have, and he also took a loan I think or used his credit card to buy Bitcoin. At one point, he was a millionaire, and many already said that he must sell it at the bull market, and he didn't sell it. Ending is I think he's still holding it and waiting for the market to go up again.

Why I picked DOGE? Because DOGE has a history of pumps and dumps coming from Elon Musk, and one pump coming from him can give you lots of profit if timed correctly. $40,000 to a billion like you said will took you lots of time, and lots of correct trades because I believe in order to achieve this, you must buy at a good time, and sell it at it's highest.

$40,000 to a billion in 5 years? You must be a good futures trader in order for that to achieve I believe. Buying and just holding it for 5 years will not make you a billionaire especially with that low amount of money and a very high money that you want to get.

If I were you I would invest all $40,000 in Bitcoin. Because there is no secure coin like Bitcoin anymore and this coin is pumped first during bullrun.

If this is for at least 5 years later, BTC and ETH must be on the first lists. And I am not a high-risk taker, which is why I will only pick at least 3 altcoins into my portfolio that have the probability to survive and grow up until 5 years later. Some meme coins and hype coins will not be on my list. I will prefer to choose BNB as the third choice and Matic as the next.

But once again, this is not financial advice, everyone has their own choices as to what they can hold the risks and probabilities. Sometimes, people more focus on new altcoins that will probably give high gains shortly. But it will be also at high risk of losing. Every investment especially altcoins will have high risks. LTC seems like a good investment for me if I would invest in any altcoins other than BTC and ETH, however I would still try to make it strictly just BTC and ETH unless a special scenarios forced me to buy alts. I would definitely avoid meme coins for obvious reasons even if they were at their lowest price. I am not a influencer-driven investor, so I do not care any single celebrity that hypes or talks shit about other coins just for his/her own benefit of bringing hype to the coin currently being hold.

Obviously I would also avoid newer projects no matter how low their pre-sale becomes.

bitcoin and ethereum are my choice. $40k is too big for such an unpopular altcoin. So, I would probably split it 50:50 for bitcoin and ethereum. or, if possible, I might also choose BNB as one of the altcoins to invest in. the split is 40:30:30 for bitcoin, ethereum and BNB. choosing too many altcoins will not optimize your profits, and it becomes difficult to control. while 3 coins are enough to optimize profits, as well as risks.

Having 40 thousand dollars now, I would refrain from investing at the moment, since the risks for investing are too high now. In my opinion, we should wait for the correction, since the risk of buying coins when they are at a local high is now too high.

I for one was thinking Doge should have been next to Solana as more preferable for investment than the others beside BTC and Eth.
My reason being the current wave being made by Elon Musk on his Twitter and how he is trying to popularize Doge coin.
What most of these shit coins need is publicity as I believe and investments might come. People want to follow someone who knows the road better and that's Elon has taken advantage of.
I do like investment other than crypto currency but my findings and this topic is centered on cryptocurrency investment as it is and the best possible tryout without being a victim of the market.

You should be patient OP and not rush into things because everything takes time as there is no such thing as overnight success in the world of cryptocurrency because if you kept on chasing these numbers that are not really realistic, there's a good chance that you will not have a desirable outcome in the long run.

But since you've asked us what's our take on what you should invest (even if that should be your personal decision) aside from the coins that you're already accustomed which is Bitcoin and Ethereum. My opinion is to invest in BNB and SOL.

If I have $40,000, I will invest it in BTC and I will also invest it in altcoins. Maybe out of that $40,000, I'll use $35,000 in BTC and $5,000 in altcoins. And if I see a list of coins you choose, you can make them as additional investments.

For the percentage of each altcoin, you can look for it yourself but you should give a bigger portion to ETH because the price hasn't increased much yet. But be careful with the other coins because those not on your list can also increase.

I would say that's a good one but if you do it with some other stuff. I have always said that if I am going to buy just one thing and nothing else, then I would only invest into bitcoin and nothing more as well. I know that it is going to be a bit of a tough situation, but in the end we are talking about bitcoin here and even though it won't go up like others, it will at least stay strong.

What OP wants is impossible, nothing will go up that much and I think it should not be the aim of anyone in the world. I think it would be best if you can divide that money into 4. Buy bitcoin with 20k of it, buy eth with 10k of it, buy bnb with 6k of it and ltc with 4k of it. That would be the best way to divide the money and you can wait for many years to profit like that.
