Except for BTC, I can divide your proposed coin portfolio into 4 categories:
- Layer 1: ETH, ADA, SOL NEAR, DOT
- Layer 2: Matic
- Infrastructure: VET, LINK

The choice that requires little thought, in my opinion, will be 1 coin per category. And in order will be: ETH, Matic (or new Layer 2 coins like OP, ARB), LINK and DOGE. If you don't want to spread your portfolio out too many coins, then ETH and Link will be the safest and most optimal choice.

Honestly I know you said besides bitcoin but that's probably your best bet.  All the other choices you are risking a lot.  If one of these coins makes ypu a millionaire by chance then there is a good chance that bitcoin is going to at least be in the $500k range.  Is it worth the risk in missing out on bitcoins run to try to find something that will.outpace it?

What you said there is also an advice. But I think it's subjective. For some ( rich peeps ) those amounts stated might still be within their range and add if they invest those money in a superior coins ( you know, BTC or ETH ). If we want to diversify, it's also better to consider other types of assets and not just cryptos because others are more stable or less riskier than them.

I think almost all of us already know if what cryptos are built for the long term and if what cryptos are suitable for the short term. But if we still can't follow their rules, the problem is already with us. We might be lacking in patience, we are worried, we are greedy, etc... .

I agree with investing in Bitcoin too, but in this case, OP is looking at what will make him a billionaire (which I’m beginning to see as a little but unrealistic in the market today). For him to buy Bitcoin with that amount, he won’t be a billionaire. Unless in another century . The two alt coins you mentioned I think are not very good for long term investment. When Elon Musk tweeted about Doge Coin we saw the price of this coin increase significantly since then the price of this coin has gradually decreased. Currently the price of this coin is very low. Yes the OP made this post in April 2023. When the OP made this post the bull run in the cryptocurrency market didn't start so the coins he mentions didn't experience the bull market as you think. Many are optimistic that after the Bitcoin halving, bullrun will start in the cryptocurrency market, then these coins will experience a bull market. We can clearly see that there was one form in the cryptocurrency market then and now there is another form in the cryptocurrency market. When the OP posted this the price of Bitcoin was around $30K but today the price has risen from there to $40K.

The OP mentioned several potential alt coins including BNB Ethereum Sol. The prices of these coins have increased steadily over the past few months when the price of Bitcoin has increased.

Yes, Bitcoin investment is the least risky of all other coins. Undoubtedly, Bitcoin is one of the best ways to invest for me. Btc price goes up and down in a normal process or it’s ongoing. Of course I'm optimistic that $40k invested in BTC and held for the long term will yield high returns in the future. But I think investing in one or two of the top altcoins, not just BTC, can yield promising results. If I had that kind of money, I would start with Bitcoin first and hold it for the long term.
