The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

That file is just basically a log, should be able to delete (rename it addr.old or something just in case) it and the program will generate it again. Keep your bitcoins

Click on your start menu, type %appdata% in the search box. Then, click roaming, then Bitcoin, then you will see it there.

Use windows to search for addr.dat, then rename it and run the bitcoin client again. I don't know where it will be since I don't use XP.

On a related side note, responding to your post led me to checking my own Bitcoin folder whereupon I noticed the size of my block index file increase by 1 kb -- I knew a block had been solved

It will always remake the file, its a log generated by the client, thats why I said to del/rename it since it was having a problem loading it. If it's still giving you the same error message after deleting then it must be an issue with the client itself.
