Well, the very basic answer to this question which also contributes to your chances of winning is because you like that specific sport and you knew it very well generally, thus reviewing and analysing the matches won't give you much trouble and won't take you much time to determine which odd or teams will give you the best winning profit.
Basically, the outcome of the game is 50/50, despite of who the underdog is.

Gambling should really be for fun and of course you would really be considering on betting on sports which you do really know or you do really have the idea on what it is, unlike when you do just simply place up bets

just because you do see that it is considerable or someone who do suggest then i dont see the fun or entertainment on there.If it would win then its great but you cant really feel up the thrill.
Im somewhat guilty on this because i do always stick out on whose been the favorite even on different sport but most of the time i do really

It's easy like all the rest here our reason is we have a good chance of winning if we know the game very well, you're putting in money so why not put in money on something you are very familiar with and you actually watch and follow, sports betting is not like a dice game where you just bet and roll and see if you win.

It seldom happens there are upsets but upsets are something you cannot predict accurately, it just happens and it's considered gambling betting on upsets, some sports bettors bet on it and they are aware of the risk.

certainly, it is easier to bet if you live and breath a specific sports. would you bet good amount of money to a sports you are not very familiar of? i don't think so. so the answer here is very simple, you bet on the sports you are more familiar with. and with your passion, you will be more comfortable placing your bets to the athletes or teams. and you will enjoy watching their games as you know the sports by heart.

There is a difference between betting in norma; card games vs sports betting.

In normal games in the casino, there are only a few ways where you can reduce the risk of you losing. The factors that contribute to your win/loss are only a handful that you can control in order to at least turn the tide of the battle.

In sports betting, there are several factors for you to consider in order to increase your chances of winning. For example, if you have actual data of a certain team on how they are performing, then the chances of you picking the right team may contribute your chances of winning at the end. So the argument that sports betting is still a 50-50 sport cannot apply here.

That's a YOLO mentality when you bet for sports that you're not familiar with. Well, it do happens for sometime but just typically rare when a bettor thinks that he's done with the sports he's betting in and just want to try something new.

But then, that's it you get to live with that sports and you know the whole thing or if not the whole thing at least a big portion of it and can discuss for hours related to that sports.

And even if you lost a bet with that sports, you'll have an analysis on why the team or player you bet with has lost. That's the beauty of it, we become an instant analyst afterwards.

I believe that betting on a specific sport is just a reflection of one's favorite sport.
I love football, I watch a lot of games (in person when possible), I'm associated with 3 clubs, I have an official t-shirt and other things, so why wouldn't I also place bets on my favorite sport?

Those who like boxing will do the same... if the person already follows several fights, why not bet on something he likes?

I don't think it's just about making money or getting an information advantage, it's about betting on a sport that one enjoys

I don't bet randomly on sports. If I were to bet randomly, I'd be gambling on dice, slots, roulette, and other similar casino games. Sports betting, on the other hand, is not luck-based. It is gambling with stats and other information at hand. Bets on sports games are informed bets. So if I were to bet on sports games, I'd be betting on those that I am most familiar of. If I bet on sports games that I don't know of, then I'm like betting randomly, only relying on luck for my wins.

A very simple reason really, what is the point of making a bet on a sport I do not even watch? Even if I have no hope of becoming a profitable sport bettor by gambling on may favorite sport, at least when I do so I obtain the added bonus that there is something at stake for me when I watch it.

So now I am even more involved on watching my favorite sport and hoping for things to turn out on my favor, but if were to bet in an unfamiliar sport to me, then not much will change, and there is a possibility I could even miss it as I would probably make no effort to watch the sport match at all, despite the small bet I made.

You literally already said the answer in your second paragraph.
I favor one sport because I love it. Second, I have more knowledge about the game than other sports so analysis of the game will be a piece of cake although there will always be times when the unexpected could happen.
Another team will win the game because they are hot and the other team which you bet for is not feeling like it's their night. It happens. Players go through some bad nights too and it depends on how they are conditioned especially in sports like boxing and MMA.
When it comes to skills base, they are putting favorites for a reason, but there are times I love betting for the underdog instead. Emotionally biased bet or I just followed the athlete for a long time to know that he went through disciplined training to win the fight/game.
