I will recommend you use Electrum wallet, either desktop or mobile wallet; it's easier to use, and you can confirm incoming transactions from your customer even when the transaction is still undergoing confirmation. By so doing, you won't delay any of your customers. 

Some customers out there are also mostly centralized exchange users who mostly use exchanges as a secure means of storing their crypto. If you come across such customers, then I will recommend that you use Binance Pay, that is, if you have one to receive the payment. which you will return to your private wallet immediately, it's confirm to avoid delay. 
A fast and successful business transaction brings in more positive feedback for the business.

This depends on your plan, are you planning to convert them on an instant basis upon receiving those Bitcoin payments or do you just want to hold them until you can and wants directly to go with a hardware wallet or cold storage?

If you come across such customers, then I will recommend that you use Binance Pay, that is, if you have one to receive the payment.

There are also some services like https://btcpayserver.org/ and the ones offered by Bitpay. But yes, Binance is popular so Binance pay for centralized transactions.

Mostly you would really be still touching up some payment processors on which you would really be recieving up Bitcoin but would be still converted to fiat later on.Unless if you do really want on p2p transactions in regarding to be done via wallet to wallet which you do own and with the customer. If you do want it that way then its better to make use of LN payments which i dont know if its already that fine on using it up
because transactions fees are cheap and confirmations is almost instant or really that fast comparing on the current legacy. Overall, i would like to congratulate you onto your new business
and would hope success and having that good revenue.Adding up Bitcoin option payment is really that something commendable if we do speak about recognition.

For holding/storing funds esp long term, I would recommend hardware wallets as well.

I would suggest investing in "bitcoin accepted" signages as well so you can reach more people. Adding bitcoin.org URL would be a nice touch for the people who are not familiar but curious enough. The website has some beginner friendly guides + the domain name is quite easy to remember/read even if you're just passing by.

It's a really good idea that you chose to introduce Bitcoin payment in your business as well as a way of promoting Bitcoin in your area. I have my own business, where I also accept Bitcoin payments. I usually don't leave payments I accept in Bitcoin because of price volatility; after receiving payment in Bitcoin, I usually convert to fiat currency and only keep my profit in Bitcoin. But that's your decision to make; Bitcoin volatility is also good for the business some times, because if the price of Bitcoin is going high, then you will definitely be making more profit added to the profit you made from your sales.

Also, to gain customers willing to pay in bitcoin, you should post an official notice in your business premises and make some advertisements on social media. You can also make stickers and give them to your customers to stick to their cars at will. that will get you more exposure.

I'd most probably create two wallets for the business: one hot wallet for day in, day out transactions and; one cold wallet for long-term storage. Expect that you may not be getting a lot of payments in bitcoin because a lot would probably just flirt with the idea but will not commit given how well bitcoin is performing very recently. At least, it will give some awareness about bitcoin if they see a sign hanging outside your gas station saying "bitcoin accepted here." But yeah, you might have problems with confirmation times and all those, but if you are just trying it out, a simple wallet like Electrum would suffice. Be wary of double-spends though, enforce confirmations on transactions before letting your patrons go.

I hate to be a kill joy here but don't you think this scheme has already been polarized already? Hope you know its not a cool thing to do in trying to or actually lying to the good forks of forum user's right.
Somehow' its always you beginners [Newbies - Members] that are always having these contracts that wishes to pay in bitcoin or someone just started accepting bitcoin in their firm or someone just convinced his or her boss to be paid and even pay the rest of them staff in bitcoin. I still won't be surprised to see someone convince his nation's government to start paying its civil staff in bitcoin.

I like what you have down mate, as I see based on what you have said, mostly people who patronize your gas station are youths so therefore, it would be of good benefits and importance that you do e needful just as you have said to enlighten them more on bitcoin and how it works so that they could be able to adapt quickly to it but I will advise you not to think or try a way of convincing them so that you do not put yourself into problem.

Congratulation first. It is a great step and I think it is an effective and unique one. A gas station is a place where people always come and pay regularly. Also you make your customers life easier with bitcoin payment, now they don't need wait for the changes or find their wallet to pay. They can pay the bill by scanning a QR code if you have one for bitcoin payment. But if you don't put a QR code along with bitcoin address people got demotivated, because people will find it uncomfortable to type all the characters of bitcoin wallet at a gas station.

Congratulations on your new establishment. IMO adding bitcoin option as a secondary means of payment is not bad, but how many people do you think would pay for their gas with bitcoins. I don’t think it will have much impact in your business, in my country people see bitcoin as an asset and they do not like spending their bitcoins for whatever reason. There are others on the forum who are in similar business as you and also implemented bitcoin payment gateway, they will be in a better position to give advice.

I am glad to see you begin which rarely people do. First, before continuing to discuss, may I know where you come from?. Because in my country, the mini gas station is growing up in my village which can help people to buy gasoline where is far when buying from the city. But, because in my country bitcoin isn't able to payment, we can't do that in my country.

as posted above, a wallet with your own private key (noncustodial wallet) is the best. But as I know, the Mini gas station is a small business with small money, better to you use a wallet with Lightning Network which supports small Bitcoin payments at a low fee.

No doubt you have made a very good decision. As people in your area are not much aware about Bitcoin so hope through you they will become aware about Bitcoin. Since you set up a gas station and connected bitcoin as a means of payment for that gas station. 
When people come to your gas station and go to pay for gas, they will curiously ask you how to pay through it. This is how they will be introduced to Bitcoin. Especially the youth community of your area will take it very positively and you will see people coming from far and wide to get gas at your filling station. 

El Salvador recently integrated Bitcoin as a payment method for gas stations in their country. And after some time you decided that it is really admirable. Hopefully, little by little, Bitcoin will become one of the means of transactions.

I agree with you maybe the OP need to add a few options to pay using Bitcoin and Lightning Network.
The lightning network can help you because the transaction fee is very cheap it's just around 1 satoshi while bitcoin's average transaction fee based on ycharts is around 2k satoshis

You can also provide some services and put the Bitcoin logo accepted here, such as changing oil or repairing tires, etc., and with a 5% discount, you will get double interest.

If I were you I will not want to accept Bitcoin as a payment in my business, imagine there are 5 consumers want to buy fuel and there's an one who interested to pay with Bitcoin, so he ask me when there's no more customers.

I will explain about Bitcoin, tell them to buy Bitcoin and use it etc, but there's no financial gain for myself lol. I'd rather to learn a new skill to earn more money rather than explain to stranger and not get anything.

But OP would be investing in more money by putting an ATM, I think that there's not a lot of people that would probably use their bitcoin to pay for such utilities, even with the discount, bitcoin is too precious to be used as a means of payment. The scenario that keeps playing in my head is what would happen to OP's gas station if the prices go down the next day and that next day is also the time for his restocking in supplies, how can he profit if not break even.
