Newbie are wearing avatar in their accounts

Hello everyone,,
The basic rules of forum us you have to be full member to use avatar in your profile. But I've seen some accounts are useing avatar and their  rank is newbie, jr.member, and member.  we cannot use avatar in low rank profiles .. But I saw those accounts is wearing avatar in there profile....

Name of accounts.

As you can see, these accounts were created a very long time ago. Back then, newbies were able to wear avatars.

It's because they're an old newbie, AFAIK back in the days a newbie can wear an avatar, before a big change when merit requirement implemented in this forum.

In addition you can see some users are still wearing an animated avatar, but now you can't. Even you're using GIF format image as your avatar, it will not be animated and the forum only show the first frame.

No, it's way back then before merit system got added. Merit system is just about 5 years old. The wearing of avatar to newbies were change sometime when the forum was hacked, and the loophole when uploading an avatar were used^[1], or maybe way older than the hack incident.

For the merit system and new rank features, yes, this includes the new avatar features, ^{(well, it's old already actually)} which is only for full members above.

So does that mean that since these accounts already had avatars on before the introduction of the sig. and avatar rule that the rule doesn't apply or affect their ranks already having avatar on before it's introduction. Or the forum is only waiting when the account owners must have removed their avatar themselves then can't put it on again, not untill they rise to the appropriate ranks to be able to put on avatar ?

Not anymore, if they've wore avatar before the update that newbies can no longer wear avatar and they've never changed or removed it then it stays there.
But then, even if they're old accounts and try to do that today, the feature of wearing avatar is no longer available to all of them. Those that you've seen have wore it and never changed/removed their avatar long time ago and that why it stays there.

SMF or small machine forum is the software forum that we are using, by default even a newly created account can upload an avatar he can choose from the gallery or upload his own until Theymos customized the forum, which you need to rank so you can upload your own image.  

This is a default forum profile area of SMF software.

After avatars were disabled for newbies, there are glitches which make old-era newbies are grandfather and can wear avatars if they don't take theirs off. Same is for animated avatars that were detected and disabled years ago. Nowadays, we can see some users wear animated avatars.

From all the members you have linked up there the last one @ericools was active in 2020 and all others were active way before that time but there is similarity between all of them that they have created account in year 2011 when there were no such restrictions to the newbie account so they must have updated Avatar at that time.The restrictions were added later on to newbie account by @theymos to prevent lot of things as forum witnessed lot of changes.

But as they were already wearing the Avatars even after merit system implementation it was not removed but newly created accounts faced that restrictions.You would not find any account as newbie wearing avatar or posting images (leaving copper membership aside) after the system implementation by @theymos but they all are from past instances and you can't delete the existing one's.

As you can see, all of the accounts mentioned by the OP are inactive. Only one of them was active after the merit system was implemented, but the rest were not active for long, which means that their avatars may have been on before the regulation for ranks below full member to wear avatar was implemented.

Thank you for this clear explanation and I believe the OP understands the reason why the aforementioned account had the avatars. And also from my own research, the activeness of the accounts are far date back.

2011 and now is a very long time, 12years in between and a lot ha changed on the forum between then and now. Some of them is newbies not having to wear avatars. Perhaps you could try gor accounts created after the merit system was updated.

These accounts from wu back 2011 could as well have been ranked up as legendary members or some of the top ranks around should they have been a little more active but, they evidently weren't and as such, they remain newbies still.

Really this is a very new information for me and i never knew there are old Newbie account who wore avatars back in the time when Avatar was allowed on Newbie status. However sad to see that none of those accounts are active now a days.

Sometime i think why Theymos ban the avator for the Newbies and what is the disadvantage in Newbie wears an avatar ?

When I see that I find it funny and I ask myself why?
I won't blame them but I think is because of over confidence which isn't proper when it come to this forum.
I did it at first when I fit applied for a campaign think that if I wear their Avatar that they'd pick me, poor me, was a novice then but after I saw that sign CFNP I felt bad.
So since then I said won't until I'm being accepted.

With this thread, I found an answer to your question.

Avatars were disabled due to some kind of exploit back around October 2013.
They were re-enabled in 2015 on April 1^st (it wasn't a prank lol) and also the Full Member requirement was introduced.
So regarding the UID range my educated guess would be 1 - 155000

So beyond this date October 2013, all members on this forum can able to wear avatars.  So they're here for a long time.

theymos consider all the possible ways before stopping newbies to water avatar. Just the ancient ones would have been automatically remove. Or is it that, they are lefrover for future reference .

Let me tell you a secret... all this members you mentioned had a super special time machine so they could get back in time and get this avatars easily, and some members even scored animated avatars 
Joke aside, it's not hard to rank up quickly if you are active and contributing forum, than you can add any avatar you want.

I will not say that it is vital to know, but so, the question is purely out of curiosity. Moreover, these accounts have not been active for many years and are unlikely to return to the forum just to change their avatar.

as far as I know, they can remove their avatars, but once they do they cannot wear one again until they reach the required rank for that feature to be available again.

As far as I knew back then when I first started here you need to at least be a full member in order for you to wear avatars. I don't think you seem to understand how things work here. There is no kind of discrimination or exemption here. Neither were they favoured than others.
Are you a developer? If no, atleast you use some mobile or Windows app. When new update is made to an app, it is sent to you as an OTA update and it is meant for you to download and install the update to your system.
If you by any reason refuse to install the new update, will the software developers force into your system to update it for you? I guess No.

That is exactly what happened here. Theymos updated the system code such that from henceforth, newbie to member accounts won't be able to wear avatars anymore. So, newbies who were already on avatar will enjoy it as long as they do not try to remove it and wear again. Once they remove the avatar, they will now be affected by the new update.

You're able to still see them as newbies because they have been inactive for long time and the avatar they worn has been permitted for long as well before the introduction of the merit system, newbies directly can wear an avatar but now things have changed, so don't think maybe there's a way some members were being preferred than the other with this you're seing, everything about bitcointalk has to do with referring to how things were before new development and system set in.

I don't see any discrimination those accounts are not active anymore why envy accounts that are not active here, you are just speculating that they will come back, no one here has seen active newbies with avatars, and besides you are one level from reaching a rank where you can wear avatar and besides these newbies with avatars, once they discard their avatar they cannot wear a new one.
Theymos might grant your request if you see one newbie with avatar, you can then call out Theymos, but since there is none there's no need to complain.

You're the only one who thinks there's discrimination, there's no active newbie with an avatar displayed on their profile, so why Theymos would bother, and why use the word should as if the admin owes you a favor, you are being unreasonable in arguing on very trivial matters, we are all tenants here and the forum and the admin do not owe you anything.

Am very sure one of the reasons why newbies or just members are not allowed to wear avatar is so as to differentiate Bitcoin talk from a regular chat site like Whatsapp and the likes.
It is going to cause a kinda confusion if everyone is allowed to wear any avatar they deem fit, as this could result in hiding the campaigns that are meant to be run with avatars herein.

If the users remove the avatar they can not update it to a new avatar, only the last active avatar before the update will remain. I can see your point but at the same time, I can't see anything wrong with it. Maybe that is just how theymos wanted it to be.

It happened to the gif animation avatars as well as far as I know gif or animation is already disabled on the avatars, so only a few users who have gif avatars before the update can still retain their gif animations.
