Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

I'd say within a week or so. Unless this is a trade secret, would you mind explaining how you worked around paypal's general reluctance to deal with BTC ?
Trade Secret and my 10+ year long relationship with them (Which is holding less and less footing as the days go by)

I had a reply from support on 12/28 that it should be back within 48 hours... using paypal was the main attraction (for me atleast) to use bitinstant...
Given that its now been 20 days or so, I'd assume that maybe they didn't skirt the paypal -> btc problem everybody else has...
EDIT: I wish you the best though in getting it back working!

I find it fascinating and very telling that, Paypal, one of the most popular (but not well loved) online transactions services continues to hassle and equivocate with any person or service that wants to exchange bitcoins.
Is this because the problem with scammers and charge-backs are that bad ? Or is Paypal just being a corporate bully?

Paypal is a horrible entity, and virtual currencies are banned under their TOS. And yes, they are Bullies... But sometimes.. . they are a necessary evil.
