You need equipment, electricity and some decent skills that are unrelated to what you learn in school in order to become a Bitcoin miner.  It was cheap to mine 1 Bitcoin back in the day when 1 CPU was equal to 1 vote, but Bitcoin was worthless back then too.  Now Bitcoin is worth something and of course, mining costs a decent amount of money too.

There are enough jobs that require little mental and or physical effort.  They are still jobs though.  Mining Bitcoin is not as easy as it seems.

We are talking about thousands of dollars here, so you do need to work and make money before you can be able to buy a Bitcoin miner. All people are talking about passive income and passive income. Focusing too much on the money. Why people just focus first on active income and add value to other people. It just pisses me off. The only time you should focusing on passive income is when you no have enough time to make money, that is.

First of all, we don't make money. Only the central bank make money and most of the world's wealth is debt. How ironic is it? We don't make money, we take money rom other people by doing business or transactions. Like how we trade crypto, from every wins, we know that in the other side, someone have to lose their money. What OP said is not wrong, it is not OP's own dream, but it is what I see young people today looking for. They want to find a job that doesn't require work but still brings in income. That's a really alarming thing and will not only harm them but also our entire society. Today, scam projects are born in series for this reason, they hit the psychology of young investors, who do not want to do but still have high profits.

As for bitcoin mining, I have also met some people who think it is very simple and will only invest once and reap profits forever. But then they realized that things are not as simple as they thought, many people have had to sell mining machines at a loss because of electricity prices, volatile markets...

It is really a passive income, but not all can do this. The truth is that anyone can earn passively anywhere with just those mining rigs and the internet, because most of us only know that the passive income we could get is from our businesses. If our businesses are going well, it means that we are only managing them, and even if we are asleep, we can still generate money. But again, if we are talking about profit on it, it is not that good, but it still serves the purpose of earning passively. On the other hand, like investing in it, it is also great as we can earn huge amounts just by holding it.

People's thoughts are always different. Our mind always thinks how to earn more money with less work. And some people want to earn money without any effort, basically it is human nature. Because people will never choose the hard option over the easy option. When people have no second option, people choose relatively more laborious work.  Earning from mining is less hard work for people but mining is not that easy. Mining also requires us to work hard.  Various equipment mining setups require physical and mental effort to do these things. Basically money cannot be earned without hard work. It is natural that you have to work hard to earn money.

I really detest that type of thinking as well. It shouldn't be possible to make money without doing anything, that shouldn't even be possible if you ask me. There are some rich people who do that for sure, there are some rich people who made so much money that they just buy some stocks and retire and they live off that without an issue.

But even that shouldn't be possible, people should be either spending time or money or something in order to make money. If you just sit on your chair and watch movies all day and still making money, then it means there is something wrong with that economy. I personally believe that even if it's a small work, or a small amount of money, if you profited, you should have done something for it without a doubt.

Sorry but this concept is not going. If everybody only wants money without working for it than the economy is going to collapse. Let's say that only the people who really love their job will continue working and everybody else quits, hoping that crypto currencies and the government assistance programs will take of everything. Than we would all be in big trouble. A country can't function without money. Who would stand up in the middle to bake your bread, collect trash from the streets or cleans toilets. There are so many jobs that if we would money for free nobody would be doing it anymore. Also what me and making money for you? 5% per year? Or 100? It still comes down to how much capital you already own. Starting from 0 is very hard.

Of course your definition of "work" may be flawed if you think work is only something you physically perform with your hands or a shovel!

I honestly wonder why the OP was so naive not to know what work meant, and of course it's kind of ridiculous to say that only physical activity counts as work while others like mining are not considered work.

In this world there are many sources of income that do not really need physical activity, but they need a budged with which to make profit. Trading, mining and investing are some examples, but without working "even with the mind" returns cannot be expected either.

Who told you it was humanity's dream to make money without working? And who told you Bitcoin miners make money without working? Because for the fact that these miners bought these expensive Bitcoin mining equipments, set it up and monitored it, making sure it runs  27hrs, 7days a week non stop so as the make sure our transactions are confirmed on the blockchain, that is work already, and likewise stuff such as trading, buying, selling & investing in BTC can also be classified as work also, but in a different dimension.
So please note that Bitcoin was created to over us financial freedom and not to encourage laziness.

Do you mean the ASIC miners? Do you think that does who have purchased them to mine Bitcoin got it for free? The money that they'll use to pay for those for free? Don't ignore these people's hard work just to attain the money that they've paid for these miners. They're not all for free and it was a product of their sweat, hard work, smart work, sacrifices, and other things. It's an investment and that's been paying them off and people think that they're just earning money for free without knowing how it all started. If it was easy to have this equipment then everyone should have been a miner by now but it's not the case. I think the one you mentioned is not the most suitable description, it is true that man tends to want to be rich without making an effort, but bitcoin was not born for this reason, it can generate wealth but requires initial investment and knowledge, but a miner only can not make you rich, maybe he could do it in 2008 but no longer now, man seeks wealth and wants it immediately but at present it is impossible

You are referring to "Passive income" .....and mining for Crypto currencies are definitely not passive income. There are a lot of work and effort that goes into the configuration and maintenance of mining rigs and also the cooling of these rigs.

You have to be on 24hour standby to handle any problems that might happen with those mining rigs and then you have to deal with mining pools and the conversion of the tokens to fiat for utility payments.
