Another bad experience with Rtx 4080

A fellow miner with experience, but late noticed a problem with overheating of the power connector.
I do not recommend video cards with this 12 pin connector, as if it was invented against mining.

Was this having a 2 x 6 PCIE-x connectors or a single 12 pin connectors as most likely 2 x 6 PCIE-x connectors should somewhat not make the card overheat,for Rtx 4080 is the first time I am seeing this and I guess this is plain bad luck because I have not seen this en mass like I used to see a lot of complaints for the 4090 card which of course with that power consumption was going to overheat a lot and it was for me a bad design from Nvidia but for 4080 first time I am hearing here,maybe not a lot of people have bought these cards yet.

By the way was your colleague using such recommended cable as per Nvidia specs as from what I see there they wanted a "3x PCIe 8-pin cables (adapter in box) OR
450 W or greater PCIe Gen 5 cable"

Tell the manufacture that they screwed up and push for a replacement card with the right patch cable with the correct female pins in it.

I think the cable was used out of the box. Bad contacts always give such negative consequences, but in Russia such breakdowns cannot be returned under warranty. Very high power per connector, Nvidia are assholes, they need to come back with proven 8 pin connectors.

Much better than an adapter, it eliminates an unnecessary extra connection, but only works with Corsair. Each different PSU needs its own custom
cable to match its pinouts. PCIe 5 PSUs are still rare since only Nvidia GPUs can use them.

There are chinese atx PSU with ratings of 3000w, 2000w, they are big and lots of wires. They are cheap, might worth a try--only for old ROI'd cards LOL

I think running them at 50-60% of rated power would be ideal.

Moreover, if you need more than 2000 watts and 2 corsair power supplies of 1000 watts each do not suit you, then it is better to buy server power supplies. The 1300w can be used for 80% load, that's ~ 1000w, the 2600w used at 50% is 1300w.

Warranty is already priced in the retail, at ~300$ you already bought the 10yr warranty. For the cheap psu, you don't need to wait for 10 years for ROI.

I would only use the cheap psu on old gpus, when upgrading use the branded on new cards, move the old cards to the chinese psu.

pin burned surely warranty wont accept it, neither gpu or psu, sadly some psu cable quite bad doesnt hold 300w of power.
mostly the cable socket or psu socket get burned. and now gpus seems using under wattage configuration lol
