Does anyone know at what point Moore's law will come into effect and they won't be able to make the nM count smaller? So far smallest I have heard of is 2nM. Is that it for a while after they make 2nM?

Well for 2nM seems pretty accurate as they should not go that further, for this we have the smartphones Apple and Samsung which so far are at 4nM in chip production and I think they have been in 5 nM and 4 nM for quite a while now,I doubt they will go much further and normally this depends on the level of applications created for these phones, the same for the level of games and intensity of mining, rendering and engineering loads, the further these go the further they put pressure for the producers of devices,in this case the GPU makers to go as low as possible.

I heard that it is impossible to make chips smaller than 5 nanometers for a long time. The hashrate and payback of the video card are important to us, as well as the consumption of electricity and temperatures, and technologies will constantly change for the better.

Look at this massive cooling system from MSI
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5413085.msg62339571#msg62339571
The RTX 5090 will be hotter than the previous model and manufacturers will install such huge cooling systems.

If AI does become something that utilizes your local GPU power to process information, I wonder what effect that will have on the mining market for GPUs.  Will it be a rising tide lifts all boats scenario, or are current graphics cards unable to perform AI tasks at a decent rate?  I'm curious, but it appears that the market is equally uncertain about the future of AI.  One thing it does seem to be indicating is that the GPU business is going to be extremely more profitable in the coming years, as P/E ratios for GPU companies, specifically Nvidia have gotten a little crazy.  I think Nvidia would have to make 20x more profit for their P/E ratio to be anywhere near reality in the current environment.  In short, people are REALLY bullish on AI.

YouTube channel RedGamingTech says that Hopper Next is "basically Blackwell," the codename for Nvidia's next line of gaming GPUs. The rumor is that Hopper Next will be used across different product segments, including RTX 5000-series GeForce GPUs and high performance computing (HPC) parts for AI and other enterprise use.

The RTX 5000 series is expected to be based on TSMC's 3nm process node, though Huang did confirm that it could tap Intel for future chip manufacturing. The CEO said early test results for an Intel-manufactured Nvidia chip based on the former's s next-gen process node had yielded good results, and both companies are "evaluating the process" on how best to move forward.

https://www.techspot.com/news/98922-nvidia-rtx-5000-graphics-cards-rumored-launch-next.html

right now it's just rumors, but if there is a big demand for AI hardware, then Nvidia will probably limit the performance of gaming graphics cards in AI, and release a special series for AI.

Nvidia’s next-gen RTX 5090 GPU to be built on TSMC’s 3nm node
Nvidia shipped the first GeForce RTX 40-series graphics card, the GeForce RTX 4090, in October of last year. The company soon followed it up with GeForce RTX 4080 in November and the RTX 4070 Ti in January 2023. Most recently, Nvidia unveiled the RTX 4070. The entire series utilizes TSMC’s 4nm process node, which is also employed by many mobile processors. However, reports suggest that the upcoming RTX 50 series will be built on the more advanced 3nm node from the Taiwanese company.

So 1080ti = was good > big mining

For big mining, you need a global coin with an idea like ethereum. And now there are some clones of bitcoin and ethereum that will not be used in the future. I thought about the idea of a new coin for mining for a long time, but so far I don’t see a single candidate for this place.

The 2xxx series did not differ much in mining performance from the 1xxx series, and the 4xxx series shows a large increase compared to the 3xxx series. But the 4xxx series came out at a time when GPU mining is unprofitable and ASICs are replacing video cards from mining.

Nvidia is taking over the gaming video card market from AMD because it makes good video cards. 4xxx has no locks and video cards are good in mining. If not for the 12-pin power supply connector, then this would be an excellent replacement for the 3xxx series. In the meantime, there is nothing to mine, then any video card will be a bad investment.

It looks like the manufacturers want to modernize this shit a bit and make it non-meltable ies not burn

According to trusted German leaker Igor’s Lab, the PCI-SIG (the industrial group that standardizes PCI data and power connections) has revised the 12VHPWR design into the upcoming 12V-2×6 connector. Physically it looks almost identical, with twelve standard power pins and four extra, smaller pins for sideband data (making it reverse compatible), and it can handle the same maximum 600 watts of power to the connected device.
