How does it actually work, and why exactly 9? Is it from fairy tales or is there an ancient origin? I really want to hear the versions.

The idea that cats have nine lives is a common myth and superstition. While cats are known for their agility and ability to land on their feet, they do not actually have nine lives.

The origins of this myth are unclear, but it may have originated from ancient Egyptian mythology, where cats were revered and considered sacred animals. The goddess Bastet, who was often depicted as a cat, was believed to have multiple lives and protect her feline counterparts.

The phrase "nine lives" may also have been popularized by Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet, where Tybalt exclaims, "What, art thou hurt?...And yet thou wilt have but one [life]."

In reality, cats are just as vulnerable as any other animal and can suffer serious injuries or even death from accidents or illnesses. It's important to provide proper care and attention to ensure their safety and well-being.
