Gateway time-out Error code 504

I was unable to access bitcointalk for last few hours and got this message of Gateway time-out with Error code 504



How come the forum unexpected downtime is too much ? Is everything OK ?
By the way this is the biggest downtime i experienced on here.

It was down for everyone for the last few hours. I used to visit the forum once in a while. I tried a few times and it was down all the time.
We have never seen such long down time. Maybe some internal work is ongoing, maybe the imgur issue as theymos was also looking for a solution.

I was also experiencing the same issue. I think the timeout was a longer one this time because I was unable to visit the forum for more than 2 hours. I think the host might had the issue seems like Cloudflare was working but the host was down.



I hope if there was a bug that might have been fixed during the shutdown time or maybe there was a off time issues with the server itself.

I don't think this has anything to do with imgur.

When I tried logging in but couldn't because of this gateway ish, one thing came to my mind; I thought I had awoken in a different time or the apocalypse was taking place  ..but I'm glad it's fixed .

I am not a hacker or a software programmer, so I don't have a good education about all that, and that's why I am asking this question too. What could be the cause of this error message when trying to log in to bitcointalk.org this morning? This error occurred for more than 2 hours before it was able to be fixed. I know I have experienced this before, but it did not take so long before I was able to log in, but it seems today's experience took so long, I was beginning to think if the site was under attack, because nothing seems to be a surprise to me anymore this days.

I thought it was a DDoS attack or some issue affecting the forum because I had been attempting to access bitcointalk for the past 3 hours without success, I even tried a VPN but it's negative.

I was thinking if there were any changes happening on Bitcointalk, possibly related to Imgur or any new implementation for posting pictures on the forum. I believe this is one of the longest shutdowns in the forum that has occurred in years, I hope nothing bad happened. I'd wait for more replies to know the cause of this issue...

I guess the whole forum is down for the past few hours which only theymos can tell what actually had happened. I hope he did actually fix the things up or this is just related to server downtime and got fixed by the registrar or something.

So far this has been the longest based on experience. For over three hours no one could access the website. I guess there actually was an upgrade, maintenance  and something of that nature ongoing. I know it was not a ddoss attack because we have high tech gurus who runs and manage this platform who can fix things here up but this took much longer than expected.

Probably the longest downtime I have witnessed in this forum. I actually bookmarked a url here that I needed to read early morning when I wake before work, but I tried and the site didn't open. I had to reach work, got a spare time and tried again but to no avail
It seems the backend became like an automobile combustion engine and theymos didn't know which nuts to remove or replace

Do we have some mirrors available somewhere in case of a longer downtime ?

By the way, 3 hours without the forum is not like a trauma, but it could be great to have some mirror urls in case of a long failure, or DDOS

These are things that can happen. That sometimes it just happens when we're sleeping, that it takes a little longer to resolve.

What matters is that everything is back to normal.

This also surprised me seing this and the next that comes to my mind was if there was an ongoing upgrades as regards the poll made on Theymos thread concerning the image, but honestly we are all excited and very happy to see the forum back again, i still believe all these was for good concerning one aspect being upgraded on the forum, we appreciate Theymos for kind and prompt administration of the forum in all aspects, he's really working hard in giving the best to the forum continuity.

Everything is back to normal but this is the longest down ever because several times it happened it was only a matter of minutes and I was able to access the forum again properly, so I thought there was nothing to worry about maybe because it happened in the time zone where the forum administrator was sleeping so he didn't realize it would what's going on.

Quite worried when the forum went downtime we became quite curious so that the internal problems could be resolved properly and now the forum is normal, and activities are smooth again.

I've never heard of forums having mirror links and one of the accesses is forums with this domain and nothing else, but actually, we often experience this kind of thing but today maybe that's what I've felt for a long time.

We thought it was an Imgur script issue but for real it's not.

it's been down for me too for the last 3 hours and i check on Bitcointalk Twitter to check for any info but sadly i don't see any info regarding this down. but i only see a meme coin update.

It is the first time since 2017 that the server has stopped for all this time, and it is definitely not related to imgur or DDOS.
There was a problem with the server and we will report it soon.

I was afraid that the server was hacked because I use a useless recovery email, and I hope it is not hacked .

For me it lasted more than 3 hours.
