Bitcoin addresses can also start with 3 or bc1.

But to answer your question, no. Ethereum addresses always start with (0x). The same applies to the other EVM compatible chains.

But I found ethereum wallet address that starts with 1
and this wallet address is on the blockchain.
How it is possible?

I found at least 3 addresses and I know there are many of such addresses that starts with 1

Show the full address, so we can check it. Otherwise, you might wrongly take it as an Ethereum address or it is just without the 0x prefix or maybe just another coin address.

0x is hexadecimal prefix. Some Ethereum apps/platforms might accept ETH addresses with or without the 0x prefix.[1] For example, Etherscan is able to search addresses or transactions hash with or without the prefix.

1nBrsnx2F*********** is only 20 characters long. On the other hand, an Ethereum address usually has 42 characters long, either for user accounts or contract accounts.[2][3]

Why don't you show us?

You already got the answer that all Ethereum addresses begin with the prefix "0x." If you came across something on a blockchain explorer that you're unsure about, feel free to share the link with us so that we can take a look and provide further assistance.

-snip-

That's not possible either because Ethereum addresses can't have the characters N, X, etc. as is the case with the address he's showing.

@OP If you can copy the address in Etherscan without getting any errors, then it's a valid address otherwise it's not.

I doubt what Op is saying is true.

All the time I have spent in crypto space I haven't heard or seen any Ethereum address starts with "1" it's not possible, I know that some Bitcoin address do start with "1", "3" or "bc1" but for altcoin like bep20 and Erc20 they do always start with 0x while for Trons it begins with "T" etcetera.

As others have stated Op, it won't do you any harm to copy the address and post it here so that everyone can see for themselves.

Definitely not there if you ask for originality, real ethereum just running on their own network with clear characteristics (starting 0x). Just be careful if you see it as an ETH ticker on other networks, because it's not always ethereum (or maybe it's some kind of wrapped token) and definitely some of the features don't work like real coins.

This space for rent.

Where did you get this address? If it was generated by a multi-currency wallet, you may have mistakenly chosen another coin than Ethereum.

My question is -
is there any Ethereum address that starts with 1 ?

Check the screenshot of blockchain.com
When I explored the random alphanumeric characters that starts with 1
This is what I got, as shown at the pic.
Address starts with number 1... but its an Ethereum wallet address with zero balance.

I have cropped the screenshot and hide the full wallet address. I will reveal the whole address only if Ethereum community and its users see this post and
If someone from their community or any of its users contact me and ask me to show full address and is ready to take further step of finding technical fault. Then only I will reveal the whole address.
Check the part screenshot here.

It's not a bug. @vv181 was right then, some explorers do read the addresses without the need for the 0x prefix.

The reason why I said it's not possible earlier, was because of the address you provided. The address you're showing now seems to be a valid one (only 0-9 and A-F characters).

We already told you that all Ethereum addresses start with "0x." If a wallet decides not to show the prefix, that's their choice. But honestly, Blockchain.com isn't a good or safe wallet to use anyway. I recommend you find another option that's more reliable.

I have cropped the screenshot and hide the full wallet address. I will reveal the whole address only if Ethereum community and its users see this post and

The screenshot is quite difficult to make out. It would be better if you could provide the complete screenshot while blacking out any private information. That way, we'll have a clearer view of the content.

The screenshot is quite difficult to make out. It would be better if you could provide the complete screenshot while blacking out any private information. That way, we'll have a clearer view of the content.

If some Ethereum wallet decides not to show the 0x prefix. Then it should not also show prefix 1 at the start.

Note: that the below wallet address is just an example taken for explaining.

If we explore below wallet address at any online blockchain platform like
blockchain.com or etherscan.io
0x71C7656EC7ab88b098defB751B7401B5f6d8976F
and we get the existence of this wallet address with details, then we agree that it's a true wallet address of Ethereum.

If we explore without 0x prefix
71C7656EC7ab88b098defB751B7401B5f6d8976F

and we still get the existence of this wallet address with details, then here also we agree that this is a true wallet address of Ethereum.

But If we explore with prefix 1

171C7656EC7ab88b098defB751B7401B5f6d8976F

And still if it shows the existence of such wallet address as Ethereum wallet with details, then will we agree that this true wallet? Im sure, we will not because we agree that Ethereum wallet address starts with 0x prefix.

This is what is happening with wallet address, I've shown in the screenshot.
I don't know whether it's bug or not. But it clearly shows something is wrong with Ethereum blockchain.

We cannot blame source like blockchain.com because it works on integration with Ethereum blockchain and shows the results from it and not of their own.
So, when I explorer the whole given wallet address ( as shown at screenshot) at blockchain.com, it gives the result of existence of such wallet address with prefix 1, from blockchain and not from somewhere else or any manipulated result.

If sometime sooner or later, if someone try to get a new wallet address of Ethereum from any popular wallet like MetaMask, Exodus and they start getting this type of wallet addresses with 1 prefix. Then this will be a serious issue with the blockchain.

As I said those who is serious on finding the bug or any technical issue about this matter and need to know the wallet address then, contact me personally.
Or ask Ethereum community to contact me.
Also one can forward this issue to Ethereum community, so that they can at least know what's going on with Ethereum.

I have no desire to contact you personally. If you wish to present any evidence to support your point here, it is entirely up to you to provide it. I don't trust you anymore and I'm curious to know what your true intention is behind this topic.

Or ask Ethereum community to contact me.
Also one can forward this issue to Ethereum community, so that they can at least know what's going on with Ethereum.

Forward it yourself.

Same screen shot of wallet address:

Screenshots can be easily manipulated. Post a link to the real address on blockchain explorer if you want us to believe you.

is ready to take further step of finding technical fault.
It is not a technical fault from Ethereum.

If some Ethereum wallet decides not to show the 0x prefix. Then it should not also show prefix 1 at the start.
0x is a hexadecimal prefix that the ETH address used and 1 is not an ETH prefix.

And still if it shows the existence of such wallet address as Ethereum wallet with details, then will we agree that this true wallet? Im sure, we will not because we agree that Ethereum wallet address starts with 0x prefix.
Stop assuming things. ETH has not undergone any significant change in regard to its address generation. We/community did not agree on wether the current ETH prefixed is 1 or 0x, it is a technical fact that ETH addresses start with 0x.

For sure blockchain.com is possible to blame. As you have said yourself and how it actually works, the integration process by blockchain.com is the one that needs to be scrutinized.

In fact, it is very likely the problem is on the blockchain.com side.

If sometime sooner or later, if someone try to get a new wallet address of Ethereum from any popular wallet like MetaMask, Exodus and they start getting this type of wallet addresses with 1 prefix. Then this will be a serious issue with the blockchain.
Nope, it won't.

Here is the thing, you can freely paste the address here since it does not possess a serious threat to ETH.

Or you can simply search for the address on another Ethereum explorer. I'm certain the issues won't persist, and it is an explorer-related bug, not ETH.

In here, some are saying.
I have manipulated the screenshot.
Why I will do such thing? What I will get by doing it?

I presented something that shows some technical fault or a bug, either at Ethereum blockchain or blockchain.com

With etherscan.io
The scene is even worst.

vv181,  I am not assuming and playing around. Just got something interesting to present. So I did.
I don't have to do anything thing with Ethereum or it's community.
Even if I find such thing with Bitcoin, I will post it here, just to inform crypto users.

Here is the another issue.

"On Ethereum and other networks compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), public addresses all share the same format: they begin with 0x, and are followed by 40 alphanumeric characters (numerals and letters), adding up to 42 characters in total".

It says that the Eth wallet address must consist of alphanumeric characters.

Now check this link https://etherscan.io/address/0x1234567891011121354156117981940232723242

Or go to https://etherscan.io/
And explore the below wallet address made of prefix 0x and only 40 numbers.

0x1234567891011121314151617181920212223242

This wallet address shows up as existence at etherscan.io having only numbers, with zero balance.

Again, if we see the same address at blockchain.com which starts with prefix 1, has 26-35 only numbers.
1234567891011121314151617181920
One will not find any results. It doesn't exist because the whole set are made up of only numbers and the fact is bitcoin wallet address is made of alphanumeric characters.
This proves Bitcoin blockchain search result at blockchain.com is correct.

Whereas Ethereum search result at  etherscan.io is incorrect.

This proves Ethereum wallet address at blockchain has something wrong in it.

After all I have nothing to do with bugs and those technical faults.
Just wanted to inform you guys and all those Ethereum users, that's why I posted this topic.

No, it doesn't say that. Read the rest of the text.

"This address is a number, even though it also includes alphabetical characters. This is because the hexadecimal (base 16) system used to generate the address doesn't just use numerals, like our ten-digit decimal system. Instead, the hexadecimal system uses the numerals 0-9 and the letters A-F." (source: metamask.io)

Now check this link https://etherscan.io/address/0x1234567891011121354156117981940232723242

Or go to https://etherscan.io/
And explore the below wallet address made of prefix 0x and only 40 numbers.

So what? The address is still a valid hexadecimal format. You don’t think every address must include all digits, do you?

This proves Ethereum wallet address at blockchain has something wrong in it.

No, this proves that you don't understand fundamental mathematical concepts, including the differentiation between number systems like base-16 or base-64. Did you skip a math class or two at school?

Besides, you have not yet provided any evidence of the mentioned address on blockchain.com explorer.

It is also shown on blockchain.com explorer:

Unfortunately, your post did not prove anything at all but your unfamiliarity with how Ethereum address generation process works.

After all I have nothing to do with bugs and those technical faults.
Just wanted to inform you guys and all those Ethereum users, that's why I posted this topic.
We do also have nothing against you. We just trying to inform you that Ethereum addresses that start with 1 prefix is technically impossible. And it is neither a bug nor a technical fault.

Have you even tried that and do you think those wallets will ever try to thwart transactions en masse by giving users non-standard addresses (even looking unfamiliar to the common user understanding)?

As a side note, if you think a site has presented inappropriate information, then report it to support or just look for alternatives.
