Investing in altcoins is always a bad decision before a bull market starts for good. In bear market, you DCA bitcoin and nothing else. Bitcoin is the best performing asset during a bear market (because altcoins are going down far more) and in the beginning of bull run when altcoins are either going sideways or up but slower than bitcoin because the majority of investors think bitcoin is cheap and are too scared to buy shitcoins. History shows that the best moment to buy altcoins is when bitcoin break previous ATH. At this point, the mass media write everywhere about pump, a lot of new investors are coming to the market, who, seeing how bitcoin has grown, are looking for cheaper alternatives pumping altcoins. Well what did you assume? That the market would go up when you bought your coins? Wishful thinking then. Bitcoin is still down from a few weeks ago but in comparison to months ago, it's in a better place so no worries there, just bide your time with it. For altcoins I tend to never really hodl them for a long term, that's just going to really make you lose out imo in most cases (some cases investing on an altcoin for a year or two can bring out a lot). ETH is still looking pretty good I think, looking at the chart you clearly bought both coins at it's peak, meaning when it was rising up. Buy when it's going down, not the other way around. Buying when the price is going up is a quick ticket to losing money in the obvious short term imo.

Regarding the price fluctuations of Bitcoin and Ethereum, just wear a blindfold for now. It's not a short-term type of investment so be sure you won't panic sell even if it goes down pretty hard. It's just the behaviour of it but when it finds the bull market I am with no doubt you will be happier with your decision.
Altcoins. It depends on the coin you invest with. Perhaps telling us what it is could enlighten us and then we could check out what is happening behind it.

I did invested in altcoins and I still hold some of them. But, it's not my entire portfolio is composed of altcoins. It can be counted in hands and I'm willing to wait until I break even or get a little of profit from holding it.

I am not really a crypto expert but i am following the crypto market since 2017 and since then the market always pretty much reacted the same way. When a bullrun is starting, so far Bitcoin was always the first project to make massive gains. After a certain period of doing that the Bitcoin rallyie stops and the big altcoins like Ethereum, BNB and other projects from the top 20 or top 30 are starting their pump. Again a few weeks later even the small altcoins are pumping like crazy. In the end altcoins have usually pumped way more than Bitcoin itself.
Then in a bear market it is as you say, Bitcoin will also go down but way less than the average altcoins.

Based on what you have been writing above if you have been investing your money at the peak price. the price of bitcoin has been pumped from 16k to the 30k and yeah you know what you ahve done. That's why you have been facing the lost.

Altcoins are normally more volatile than Bitcoin since it has less liquidity. People investing in altcoins are those riding for profit and not with investing purposes so don't expect any long-term profit on any altcoin, especially those pre-launch scams. Pre-launch of altcoins is a Ponzi scheme on crypto in which the just use the collected capital for liquidity while they are the ones who will dump on it using their own tokens. We can't deny that altcoins, especially meme coins these days are very hot and hyping. We can say people are making money from this situation but can't ignore the risk and losses that awaits them. Now, if you care about at least a safe investment, it is better to avoid this kind of project rather than focus on Bitcoin. Some altcoins can go down to zero from $15 during a bear market. So, investors find it difficult to throw in money into such coins. Not all but many were already gone. I did invest in some altcoins, the good ones IMO that turned into one of the worst investments that I've ever got.

Well I do not think this is something you need to worry about to be honest. Price of Bitcoin is now $28,000 and price of Ethereum is now $1,900. If you are going to HODL them for long term gains it is not going to make a big difference for just a small amount in price difference.
I think it is more risky for investing in alt coin market. We know price of Bitcoin will go back up we just do not know when. But it is so low now and same with alt coins. But for alt coins it might not go up as much as Bitcoin price, so it makes them more risky then Bitcoin.

Reason being that, before you buy some of this coin you have to buy bitcoin first and then swap to those coins, and before you can sell you have to still swap to Bitcoin before selling for fiat, so Bitcoin seem to act as a mediator for their transactions. So why border selling or swaping some bitcoin to buy those copy coins, its better to just leave your bitcoin portfolio than to sell some of if, most especially this halving period. However is better to add to your bitcoin portfolio now than to sell.

That's crypto for you.  I know this is an older thread but in downtrend alts are volatile and even in uptrend they are very volatile l.  If you can't handle the swings then I think you need to step away from crypto.  Bitcoin for sure is your safest bet amd sounds like the place you want to park your stash at.

I don't see any reason why I should DCA Altcoins, that is the worst strategy ever and not sufficient for accumulating any Altcoins.

The heavy dumps doesn't affect us because we have thoroughly mapped the market and knows were the market is heading specifially in bear season. Nonetheless, the only issue I could sense here is that you do not know the market you invested in but nevertheless still made the investment, this is bad. You wouldn't have asked such a question with an obvious answer if you knew it. Bitcoin's size is so large already, and for this, what it would shed when falling can't be as grievous as what altcoins would share.

Ethereum is an altcoin too but has a somewhat better large size compared to other altcoins, so we can relate it with Bitcoin as well, their large size is an advantage for them when they are falling, mind you, a disadvantage when they are buying. This is where the advantage of the altcoins comes in, they fall more just as they rise more, so when you are losing with your investment, you should not panic but pray and hope that they soon start buying, just like how they are doing now.

In other words, you lose more in altcoin depreciation and gain more in their appreciation, the choice is yours. Also, try to learn how to read the market, this will save you from panic as to know when to invest and divest.

halving is an event wherein the supply entering the market is reduced

Yeah, I know what the halving literally mean, but due to history occurrence we are hoping same also happens to this halving, after the halving comes bull run, and that's our expectation, I don't care if history repeats itself or not, all I know is, its better to buy more now, so you won't regret later. The price going down ever since after you bought them does not indicate they it was a bad investment, if you understand market dynamic especially with cryptocurrency you will understand better that this can be considered a norm for coins to first drop price and later go up again even Bitcoin does this but Bitcoin do have a cumulative upward movement regardless of the dropping at some point.

It's only a matter of patience, if you can be patience enough to allow price move in your direction then soon you will turn out profitable. Most time it's better to do these investment in the long term before concluding if they turned out good or bad because short term doesn't most often

Personally I believe altcoins are a better alternative. They are capable of bringing your larger profits if you made the right choices and decisions.
Altcoins have and could have multiple of uses and can be widely adopted around the world. They are faster and cheaper to transact.
Tried transacting bitcoin this morning and the suggested fees were $14 from my wallet. And diversification is a must when you invest. You can keep a large bitcoin stash but never grow it over 50% of your fiat equivalent.

Practically, I don't recall any season being an altcoin season. But it there is then it's my first time but I only have heard that after the run in Bitcoin price there might also be coins that will run with Bitcoin because of its attachment to Bitcoin. Altcoins don't have bull run but they run with Bitcoin when Bitcoin experiences the bull run if I'm correct.

I have not taken note of this before even though it may be true and I have to pay attention to see it for myself. Could this be the explanation to what the altcoin season is? I made a post on the topic What causes altcoin season? but I have not gotten a clear answer as to why we should have bull season that will be followed by altcoin season. Some people actually gave response close to yours but not exactly the same as yours. If I may ask, when do we expected the altcoin season in the present bull market? Yes I have invested in Bitcoin as well as some Altcoins. I invested 90% of my investment in bitcoin and the remaining 10% in altcoins. If the price of Bitcoin increases in the market, the price of altcoins also increases slightly. You can invest in Bitcoin as well as invest in altcoins to a lesser extent. If you invest in bitcoins the risk will be low while in altcoins the risk remains high.

You have omitted one great altcoin that has been doing well lately, that's Solana. It price movement is more higher than the three you mentioned. Well, the point here is that most altcoin will definitely experience a price increment as BTC moves higher unless if the altcoin is a dead project.
