- get out of debt and do it fast.
- cut my expenses and save more.

I think this also fall under what the op is trying to imply, because if am not mistaken it is the knowledge he had about gamble that made his exposed to that lucky opportunity because if he hadn't known that it is actually possible to have such winning in the act he is involved in, he wouldn't have given it a try even if it falls under a first time luck.
