Hi,

Any idea what happened to blockchain.info API? Is it still functional? This url: https://api.blockchain.info/customer/signup gives me a 503 error. It's one of the oldest and most popular APIs around and it would be a pity if it would go down forever. I also don't see any options to contact the support - it seems they offer support for their trading platform/exchange and wallet services but no mention of API anywhere?

If you want to communicate with their exchange, you need to have an account there and then get your API key from there as described here[1].

For the wallet, then it looks like you need to install a service[2][3]

As for everything else (blocks/mempool data, balances, tx, etc.) then you don't need an API key[3].

Their status page[1] doesn't indicate any kind of downtime related with their API. Their Twitter account[2] also hasn't shared anything related with that recently and the only complain that I found on Twitter was this user[3] who hasn't got a reply from Blockchain.info as of now, which is odd. Perhaps opening a ticket in their system[4] would provide you with a faster reply from their side?

Thanks, that tweet looks totally related to this issue. I did contact them finally, using their trading platform support form. I really hope they'll forward it to the person(s) in charge of the API. API itself seems to be functioning, it's just the url I provided above has issues.

P.S. The status page seems to monitor just the exchange and nothing else.

Blockchain.info API is not down. In fact, I've just used it to list all (~4000!) of the transactions of a Nakamoto address, which required multiple API calls to fetch all the data. So no, it's not in the water just yet.

You can verify this by asking ChatGPT to make example requests to blockchain.info in CURL or python for you to run.

Also, you don't need to sign up to use their API - most endpoints work anonymously without an API key. (Beware that they have a strict 1 request per 10 seconds limit or you can get IP banned.)

Yes, in fact the API itself works, I've realized that already. But I'm trying to run a script which uses this link: https://api.blockchain.info/customer/signup and it's giving me a 503 error. And I think you still need XPUB key to use it for purposes I'm trying to use it for. So XPUB is also not working/impossible to acquire. Perhaps I'm wrong and you can guide me?

What is it exactly that you're trying to achieve? Have you checked the link I gave you above?

You should be able to get your wallet's XPUB by following these steps: https://support.blockchain.com/hc/en-us/articles/9012572718108-What-is-xPub-and-how-do-I-get-it-

Sorry it seems I mixed up xpub key and API key. Xpub really works and I'm able to get it by visiting the page in the tutorial you posted above. This url is necessary for requesting an API key and it doesn't work.

P.S. Not sure why this thread was relocated to Web Wallets since the issue is not with the wallet.

According to WBM, at least on the 15th of April you were still able to sign up for an API key[1], but somewhere between that date and 2nd of June the website became unavailable. Perhaps they have disabled the API signup page and now you have to be registered in order to get an API key? They do mention that on their documentation[2] page.

Ok, I finally got a response from Blockchain support:

Quote
Unfortunately, we have stopped issuing new Wallet API keys and cannot provide any specific time frame for when they will become available again. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Thanks for your assistance guys, I really appreciate it but this time it seems this issue can't be solved.
