Exchanges do anything but prevent unauthorized access. What is worse is they have the liberty to permit access so you are not only at risk of a hack, you are at risk of not being able to access your profile cause the exchange does not want you to.
Safer to user a wallet where you get to authorize the access using your private keys and not have to write to customer support to spend your bitcoins.

It might help in cases where a scammer wants to move stolen funds, but trusting your data to third parties is not advisable.

Everyone who has access to the KYC database is an authority, what we fear is data leakage by "bad" authorities, which in some cases the service team trades on the black market.

Furthermore, digital identity solutions enable exchanges to comply with regulatory requirements and anti-money laundering (AML) policies.

That in no way prevents losses, several cases of recent exchange money laundering investigations impacted KYC users as well where their assets were frozen.

It depends on the internal policy of the service, to solve certain problems the customer has to do a more complicated re-verification.

Can you explain little about the robust identity verification process?

I don't want to go through KYC verification everytime when I want to access an exchange or verifying with live identity like selfie or Video call verification everytime but if it's not then its actually in the practice by all the centralized exchanges so what is the solution to protect the user identity who are using a platform and undergo KYC due to regulations.

If the identity of users are crucial to centralized exchanges and that they should prioritize its security and privacy, then they're better off not asking for it. Their users will remain more private and secure that way.

Compelling users of centralized exchanges to provide their personal information only put them at risk, their accounts and funds, too. The collection and safekeeping of personal information are problematic. First, authorities could easily require centralized exchanges to submit such data. Second, these data could be hacked, leaked, shared, or even sold by whoever has access to it. It happened; it could happen again. Third, many have complained that their KYC application is repeatedly rejected, and for reasons they don't even know. Pending approval, their accounts are locked and their funds stuck. In other words, this process could only be used by centralized exchanges to steal funds.

Furthermore, I don't agree that this contributes to "enhancing the overall user experience." It's quite the opposite. This provides inconvenience and even bigger problems. As a matter of fact, if possible, anybody's identity should be kept offline.

The difference comes from the relationship of users of cryptocurrency exchanges, as its role is limited to buying and trading, and it is not like the banks that you mainly plan to keep your money in. the data requirements must be at their minimum level to verify that you comply with the anti-money laundering laws, and therefore the claim for this data must be at the minimum level that It is permitted by law without being shared with other parties and disposed of after identity verification.

AML existed before but only for institutions and big amounts of money. Average customers were affected only after restrictions introduced by the SEC.
At first glance, KYC sounds good for shutting down criminal activities. Unfortunately, this looks very different in reality. KYC in crypto doesn’t necessarily help to stop money laundering or reduce criminal activity; nor does it help to prevent terrorist financing. On the contrary - KYC endangers our privacy and encourages criminal activities (via KYC scams, identity theft and other means).

Identity verification is just for compliance. For security and privacy? lol no. Centralized exchanges are merely pushing that idea to make the verification more palatable to people. The reality is data breach/leak is always possible and one can only be hopeful it doesn't happen to them.

It's not as robust as you think as well. Those with malicious intent could surely bypass it just fine.
