Hello friends, in this thread I will tell all the ways to take care of laptops that used for mining.

Since I am a laptop user, which is the laptop I use for Mining, I hope this method can help you who experience mining using a laptop like me.
For everyone who has used laptops to mine Crypto, it is important to take proper care to ensure optimal longevity and performance for Laptops. Here are some ways that you can do:

1. Cleaning the outside
- Use a soft cloth made of soft microfiber moistened with 70-75% isopropyl alcohol to wipe the outside of the laptop and can also clean the layers to remove dust or dirt that may have accumulated during the mining process.

2. Cleaning the cooling system
- Mining generates a lot of heat, and it is very important to keep cooling systems clean. Use compressed air or a small vacuum cleaner to remove dust and debris from the cooling vents and fans. This helps maintain proper airflow and prevents overheating.

3. Check the thermal paste
- Over time during the mining process, the thermal paste that helps conduct heat between the CPU and cooling system can degrade in performance for cooling processes. From that, you need to consider replacing the thermal paste if you see high temperatures or abnormal cooling performance.

4. Monitor internal temperature
- Keep an eye on the laptop's internal temperature using monitoring software. If you notice an unusually high temperature, it may be a sign of a cooling system problem or dust buildup.

5. Scan or device scan
- Mining software can sometimes be associated with malware or viruses. Do a thorough scan with antivirus software that is reliable enough to ensure your laptop stays safe and free from any malicious programs.

6. Update drivers and software
- Keep your laptop drivers and software up to date, such as graphics drivers, BIOS updates, and any mining software you use. Updated drivers often include bug fixes and performance improvements. But, you also need to know that sometimes there are cases where certain drivers are used for mining, for example like me who uses an Acer Nitro 7 laptop that has a GTX 1660 Ti gpu, where I once had to use certain drivers to get hashrate. which is better than using the latest Driver version.

7. Optimize power settings
- Adjust your laptop's power settings to ensure efficient energy consumption. You can reduce the maximum processor state or limit the power usage of certain components when not needed, this helps minimize heat generation and save battery life.

8. Back up important data
- Regularly back up your friends' important files and data to an external storage device or cloud service. This ensures that even if something goes wrong with your laptop, your data is still safe.

9. Need to consider going to a professional service
- If you are unsure about carrying out maintenance tasks yourself, or if you suspect a hardware problem, you should consult a professional technician. They can provide a thorough checkup, cleaning, and troubleshoot any special issues you have.

By following these steps, I hope it could help maintain the performance of your laptop and extend its lifespan after using it to mine Crypto.

Note: Maybe I will keep updating this thread if there are new additions to do maintenance. From that I hope someone might provide a reference or a new way to do maintenance. And if you have questions, please ask and I hope I can help friends.

Hello friends, in this thread I will tell all the ways to take care of laptops that used for mining.
<...>

What on earth can you mine with a laptop? Definitely not Bitcoin, unless you're simply using it to control ASIC miners. It's like trying to haul a massive fully loaded 53-foot trailer with a scooter – it's just not built for that kind of heavy lifting.

When it comes to laptop maintenance, the advice holds true for every laptop out there, regardless of its purpose. Whether you're using your laptop for work, gaming, or simply browsing the internet, taking care of its maintenance is essential.

I don't really meant that We can Mine BTC directly with a laptop. But I mean, we can mine BTC indirectly by using other algorithm such as; FiroPow, KawPow, Beamhash, and other by using miningpool that support BTC as the Payout (Payment). For an example, we can use Unmineable mining pool that supported BTC as the payout. Here it is : https://unmineable.com/coins/BTC

I see, I was wondering what you were mining when I was reading your topic.

You should post your topic in the Altcoin Mining section of the forum, here it's the maximalists sha256 ASIC's section Grin and you won't find people motivated to discuss it here (as per https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2415854.0)

Pure nonsense. Did you just make that up? It's called altcoin mining, then you can exchange you altcoins for BTC.
You seem to have a lot of advice about subjects you know nothing about.

Ignoring the fact that mining with a laptop is a stupid idea, most of those tips look like they are taken from any one of hundeds of laptop user guides and they
have nothing to do with mining. But you left out the two most important things that anyone should consider before mining with a laptop,

1. Don't mine with a laptop that is also used for anything important, consider the laptop disposable.

2. Remove the battery to prevent overheating and fire risk.

You also don't distinguish between CPU mining and GPU mining which is also important.

Hello friends, in this thread I will tell all the ways to take care of laptops that used for mining.

It's not the beginning of 2022. Video cards are very cheap, and it’s not worth buying laptops for mining now. Many laptops after mining are sold in 2023, it is better to write a few tips on how discount lovers should not buy such laptops. I would be wary of laptops that were bought at the peak of ethereum mining and have video cards that could mine ethereum.

Exactly, the power efficiency in Mhsh from a laptop is very little compared that with the price of a normal range laptop with a medium GPU you can probably build a full rig now for the same price as the GPU prices are considerably down and they will be further down looking at the situation that we have now.

The OP can of course use Nicehash or any other pool that supports Bitcoin payouts and be happy,no need to go the laptop route unless you have an existing laptop that has a good GPU and you don't use that laptop for any other thing.

I follow graphics card sellers who sell after-mining graphics cards, and they've started to sell a lot of laptops with RTX 3060 and other graphics cards.
This means that laptops are useless for mining and are sold at good discounts, but these are also risks.

im typing from laptop that used to mine eth back then and still kicking good except the speaker seems rattle, thermal paste already replaced and some dust cleaned
now technically is free laptop gaming  Grin, and connected to monitor for better use, laptop gaming getting cheaper everyday, looks like people moving to hybrid device rather than pc
while pc handheld improving so fast, seems next couple years might gonna use for mining  Cheesy
