This all started with the issue on the MEXC exchange and I had no choice than to look for help on the MEXC telegram group and someone did helped me out, and later she started texting me on telegram about crypto discussions and stuff.

She asked questions about which projects I am currently buying and if I know anything about crypto mining and these brought us good discussions for a while, later she claimed she no longer work for MEXC that she is now a Binance Employee..at first it makes sense because this discussion lasted for months.

I let all this in because she helped, I never let my guide down in any way, I was also waiting for a possible scam habit like referring me to a link, sending me a suspicious link, or a copycat website to steal my fund, I don't trust anyone online.

Fast forward to days ago, I brought up the issue surrounding Binance and SEC, for discussion sake, you know, to learn one or two things, to my own surprise, she knew nothing about that, this was where things aren't looking right, she never knew that Binance got sued.

That's when I started asking questions, and she end up blocking me, I guess we are having those good conversations for months to make me lose my guard, she must be waiting for a perfect time to use me and rob me.

Since she once helped me, she planned to use that on me and take advantage of me I guess, this is where I learned that not following what is happening in the crypto space as an investor is wrong.

It's good to always stay informed about what's happening around crypto lately, get a crypto news app on your phone or subscribe to crypto news feeds online to stay informed, this person was busted because she knew nothing that's presently happening with the exchange company she claimed she is working for.

I don’t think it’s healthy to keep communicating with a someone who has the potential to be a scammer and I wouldn’t recommend anyone to do so. You may think you have solid hold on the situation until you eventually slip without knowing. It’s possible because even though you know the person may not be who they say they are, you still feel some sentiment towards them because they once “helped” you. I believe the conversation would have continued if she had answered your questions. Playing along with scammers is definitely not worth your time, just delete and block.

She is not smart enough. Most scammers are well-informed about the industry or firm they claim to represent. The internet is filled with wolves in sheep's clothing so everyone should treat the sector like a jungle with all kinds of animals both dangerous and friendly ones. They will be nice at first just to make the target become open and relaxed. They even offer financial assistance which is indirectly a bait to attract victims. I hardly communicate with people on social media because many scammers are seeking for loopholes to execute their plans.

You are correct Member Crypt0Gore, we need to always be current with information concerning the crypto space because it is an important source of knowledge. Being informed will also make us smarter than scammers because we will be already conversant with current security tips.

When you ask for help, support in a Telegram group, if not admins, moderators help you in the group publicly but someone else sends you a persona message and show interest to help you, it's either impersonator or scammer.

Don't interact with such Telegram members. That's it, I don't need to read the rest of your story.

In no way should scammers be underestimated, I guess the one you meant wasn't that cunning or maybe he or she newly got into the deceiving business if it was those that are experienced immediately you brought up Binance vs SEC they would have gone online to read more about it so that they can continue the discussion with you and finally gaining yoour trust before they'll bring out their finally trick whichi is the "introduction of an investment scheme". A determine scammer can go an extra mile just to convince you that they are  legit they can even do what you never expected from them.

One thing I do is to avoid any messages I recieve from those that claim they work with the company without any proof, the only time I reply them is when I'm bored a feel the need to make a mockery of them by giving them replies that make it seems like I am really falling for their scam. It always funny to read their reply when they finally found out that I have been playing all along.

Learning more about you're involved in does not just protect you from scammers ( like in your case ) it also help you t be aware of any new event that might affect your business, and also help you make perfect decisions most times.

Former Binance employee here. The first red flag shoud have been that she pretends to work with Binance just after the end of her contract with MEXC.

If you already worked for some CEXs, you know that you won't be hired before at least 6 months (in general but could be more long depending of the position) after your precedent contract with another CEX. MEXC and Binance respect this. This is to avoid the exchanges of sensitives or strategic informations between companies (even if you are just a chat support agent, no matter which position you had in the company).

Even if they are for the same financial group / owners, it is not tolerated to switch between CEXs quickly.
You cannot stop to work for MEXC and one week after start to work for Coinbase/Binance for example, your contract makes that forbidden and this is not negociable. The second CEX won't hire you because of that ; and it is quite a small world, it is difficult to hide your previous positions with other companies.

+ people working for customer support for Binance are not allowed to tell other people on the internet that they do this job during their contract, they would be potentially targeted if they did something like that (imagine how many people would harass them with bullshit questions or trying to access their network etc.. etc..)

Yes, it is always good to stay tuned and be informed of any updates relating to Bitcoin and cryptocurrency because it also gives hints on when to buy and when to sell, especially for cryptocurrency traders.

Aside from that, Telegram is always a bad option to seek support because that is where scammers always take refuge, as they find it very easy to scam innocent and uneducated beginners looking for help.

This wonderful forum always advises us against going through Telegram support channels because they are very easy to compromise and it will be difficult to differentiate the original one from the fake one.

The rare breed of scammers — the ones going for the long con. Be patient first and establish trust, then pull the trigger when the time is right. You'd imagine it's such a time consuming strategy though, but the likeliness of it to work is definitely higher.

You are right, they take their time yo create a hood relationship and find a way of gaining your trust because they know that to trust someone is hard, after that they can come up with their scam strategy to see if you will fall for it.
OP, you are lucky that you raised up a topic that she doesn't have an idea on but claim to. This should be a lesson that we should keep strangers on Internet as our chatting Mate because they can easily lure you into their trap. Information is knowledge and in whatever we are doing,we should have the latest information on it.

No one should trust, even admins/employees of telegram or discord groups representing exchanges, especially when they start making personal chats with you and asking for personal information. Hackers can easily access admin accounts and impersonate them in case the owners are careless. It could be a form of social engineering by hackers to gain your trust and then pull off a scam.
Here is a recent scam that was pulled off similarly Hackers impersonate crypto news journalists, steal $3 mn from 1,932 victims

If I was you, I don't keep the communication going on. All she did was her job to get you out of trouble or help you. She got paid for that from that company, later she keeps going the conversation is only to scam you. You should not keep the conversation going, luckily you don't get scammed. If you got scammed by her.

I've so many stranger friends on social media like Telegram or Discord before because I formerly worked as a Telegram admin but when it comes to discussing financial matters or sensitive information I won't trigger that way.  Yes, we should be always updated on what's happening around especially since Binance keeps fighting on the lawsuit and as a forum member, we're very lucky here to always have up-to-date updates and happenings in the crypto world.

It seems the scammer tries to gain your trust and waits for the opportunity to scam you but she finds out that you're more knowledgeable than her.  The reason she blocked your account.

Its good that you never let your guard down, they maybe have help you in the past but they might help you because they have motives in the future, i have the same experience and my friends before where someone pretends to be working in a projects and he knows lots of it, we have decided to invest and let the person manage it, in the start he seems to deliver what is promise, fast forward, he is asking for a bigger investment, which makes us think twice, we have back out and not invested later we heard that he scammed some of the people with the investment and never get anything in return, always be careful who you interact, transact with, when it comes with information you can exchange but always be curiois and alert because, they might be pretending to be someone since, whe never knew who they where, remember even your close friends will tricked you, how much more someone who you never met in your entire life

If I have a problem with a centralized exchange, the first thing I avoid is publishing it in a public place. I know that telegram and twitter are both places where scammers are always on standby waiting for complaints and can kindly contact you the first time (it beats official support alone).

What the SEC is suing is Binance US, Binance global has nothing to do with this case.

The issue with Binance and US is complicated, I personally wouldn’t blame anyone who doesn’t have details about it but yes, since she claimed to be a binance staff, it’s normal for she to be aware of the happenings within Binance

It's good to always stay informed about what's happening around crypto lately, get a crypto news app on your phone or subscribe to crypto news feeds online to stay informed, this person was busted because she knew nothing that's presently happening with the exchange company she claimed she is working for.

I don't know if that's how people work on assumptions and accept offers without making confirmations first, to me it's either the person is not being professional enough to have fallen for such trick or maybe a newbie in what she so called her profession, as for being informed on the current updates through social media or news apps, we have to be also careful because there are fake news as well and we have to know the level of being reliable and trust their source.

Binance problems with sec is not general neither is it global. It is just within the United States and besides some employers do not disclose the challenges of the company it legal or otherwise to their employees. But in your case your chat mate is a scammer.

Then saying that someone should install crypto apps in order to stay updated with information in the cryptocurrency world is not necessary. This kind of apps end up creating FUD in the industry and you panic and lose your funds. I did not subscribe to this news channels neither do I even send them.

If I have important information to know I would create a thread here and I will get the answer needed. Besides I don't think that bitcoin is ending today and there is no FUD against bitcoin and I am a long-time investor who is not interested in day-to-day price. Do I need to poke my nose in those kind of news about the government and Binance and Coinbase?

I don’t think it’s healthy to keep communicating with a someone who has the potential to be a scammer and I wouldn’t recommend anyone to do so. You may think you have solid hold on the situation until you eventually slip without knowing. It’s possible because even though you know the person may not be who they say they are, you still feel some sentiment towards them because they once “helped” you. I believe the conversation would have continued if she had answered your questions. Playing along with scammers is definitely not worth your time, just delete and block.

Prevention is always better than cure because when you give these people some of your precious time, they might gonna lead you to their trap which is they are pretty expert with that and you need to know they have multiple techniques which you don't have any idea about. It's better just to delete their emails whenever you received one or just delete their messages in the telegram because the more you engage in conversations with these scammers, the more prone you are to be fooled to give your money to these guys without even realizing it until it's too late.

Maybe she's not a full time scammer since the hardcore one always follow the trends or anything that can get him updated since they mostly exploit the new things on crypto ecosystem. But much better to stop communicating with such person since it cannot being anything good to us and might she is just waiting for easy perfect chance to exploit us on anything she can possibly do. Maybe she's not techy enough but still have capabilities to attack once there's opportunity seen so we still need to be careful even if they are not uodated on something we know.

This is a good catch mate. That is why it is good to be knowledgeable enough to defend yourself in anything you are doing. If it happened that you were the one who had no idea what was happening there's every possibility that she might have had her way to scamming you.

As an investor, one needs have information or be informed of your business line or possibly knowing what is happening around your business empire.
It is a pity that she was claiming to be with binance working for them and had no knowledge of what was happening. You were smart enough to pick her lapses and possibly you could have used it against her if she didn't had run away by blocking you from chatting with her.

As a result of this secret being exposed by OP.  I would advise investor always to always be patient enough to do little research on their investments and unfolding events surrounding them so as to be informed and having information at their disposal do as not to be taken unawares.
