One good feature of this forum is that, no one specific way of justifying how the distribution of merits work. A quality post can be abandoned with no single merit, despite receiving lots of commendation from members on the comment section. The distribution is decentralized, only people with Smerit can give out merits to a post that pleases their expectations after going through the write up. If you judge it that way, OP, it means members who have over 10,000 posts and 3000 merits are sharing low quality contents in the forum, it's wrong. Every member has a particular user who awarded them the most merits, showing it's a personal expectation, but then the post is always worth the merits. Hence every quality poster suddenly gets merited and most times never thought the post will get some merits.

You are right mate. I think most of what you have said seems correct because it is not all boards merit source look at for the time being. hence they have their thread for possible applications for merit because there are some posts believed to be lacking merits so in that case one needs to submit their good quality post to get rewarded with merit as that is the only way their post could be noticed.

If someone isn't getting a lot of merit, it's not a sign that most or all of their posts are bad. Merit is a limited resource and typically it's awarded for outstanding posts and valuable insights. If you are making average posts, you might be not getting a lot of merit while not actually being a shitposter. Also, using total earned merit can show incorrect results, because sometimes there are posts that earn a lot of merit, dozens or even hundreds; so a user can have a large share of their merit coming from just a few posts, while the rest of their posts are average.

One more aspect of this is a user who has very good knowledge related to crypto but has limited time to post here. So he could have got more merits but his stats will differ because of less activity.

Alot of persons on this forum always advise newbies on post quality.my question is simple and on behalf of other newbies like my self is it necessary to monitor your activity and post count in comparison with your merits

It seems you are getting this wrong at O.P, because one thing you need to understand is that the number of "Activity" or "Post" count on your account does not or is not a criteria to determined quality of post, as when people say post "Quality post" is simply means they are telling Newbies add value when making contributions to forum discussion, because an "Activity" is determined by how much time spent on the forum, and likewise merit determined by how much such user gave meaningful & helpful contributions to discussion, while post count is just a mere number.

It's neither of the two illustrations above or any other elsewhere. I'm one of the very few who have continued to insist that meriting posts is a subjective matter. It's the same way we say generally that, "beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder." Anyone meriting any post(s) does that from the angle that they like what's written which may not be seen or perceived by others as such. Going forward, OP should know that the number of merits a user has doesn't equate quality posting from the said user. If you look closely, you can see several profiles with good post quality but they hardly get merited or merited enough.

To me quality on posts and participation means those posts that can be translated into positive engagement. Also, it is worth to notice that the quality of a participation depends much on the point of view of each one of us, there have been posts around here which have been merited by some but others would find them to be rather bad or even unnecessary.

That is just my opinion, of course...

In other words - post quality is subjective from one user to another. There's no consensus on what quality is - but when the written content is good, useful and constructive on the thread, then I think it's a quality post.

After all, getting merit for a post doesn't necessarily determine if it's a quality post - but someone might approve of your efforts or might like your post. In practice - highly reputable users tend to be perceived as quality users even if they once time posted the same advice as a non-reputable user's post. They are easy to get merit with - while others are difficult.

But wait - that is just my opinion too, of course.

Actually, the meaning of quality full post for me is those posts that benefit others it can be the news, technology updates or tips and tricks, etc. For me, merit refers to the qualification of a member. In this case, the higher the merit, the higher the quality of the poster. Because only the quality full post it has been able to get merits. Yes, it is true that many members increase the number of merits through abuse of merit but I think if we look at the overall it will not be able to take him very far.
So on this criteria I would choose the first example you gave as a higher quality full poster than the poster in the second example. Because for me quantity doesn't matter, quality is the matter. The poster given in the second example may have more posts but as per his qualification the first one has managed to achieve the number of merits he got with fewer posts. I wouldn't call him a bad poster but I think the quality is a bit lower than the first person because his post quantity is more than the first person.

My friend its pretty simple, quality post actually speaks for themselves  in terms of merits <snip>
What you wrote is an example of what's NOT a quality post, and I've snipped most of it out for brevity's sake.  Rambling words that don't say anything interesting, or repeat what others have said, or are just plain incoherent are examples of what we've fondly referred to as "shitposts" for years now.

But Mr.suevie is correct, though, "post quality" really is a simple concept, and it doesn't matter whether merits are earned or not.  Good posts should be interesting or informative or both.  And on top of that, they ought to be written with proficiency in whatever language is being used.  If you read one of your own posts and try to think objectively as to whether you'd want to read it if you were someone else, that should be a good measure of whether your post is a quality one.

Browsing through this thread I'm seeing a lot of advice from members who can't write for shit (and are getting paid to do so, no less).  Threads like this aggravate me to no end.

The Sceptical Chymist, you kick their ball very hard, I think.  Cheesy

About the quality of the posts, to be honest I've overlooked so many users on my local board that they completely ignored the rules in my one of the help threads moderated. They failed to understand the rule of the thread that only quality posts can be included in the review application, but almost every day I see them starting to abuse the generosity of other users because they only meet the minimum quota of the application without caring about the expected quality.

I think this quote is very useful for some of them right now.

I have been trying to figure this out because I believe most merit source can not go round the boards to see for themselves posts that is worth meriting and likewise too some post lacks merit as well  while some merit source have specific number of merits to allocate per post. In this case when a post that is worth more merits is undermerited, based on the merit criteria would a merit source still allocate merit to the post?

Sometimes the merit to activity ratio is not a true measure of quality. Most people attracts merits more than others. You can be producing quality but in a board that lacks merits and this will make your merit count not to equate your post quality.
Some other users apply in different merit awarding threads while others don't.  Some users even get monthly post review by some merit sources.  Such users may have higher merits than you and that doesn't mean they produce more quality than you.
I have written about quality posts. You can read this thread to see what I consider as a quality post - What is a Quality post?

But Mr.suevie is correct, though, "post quality" really is a simple concept, and it doesn't matter whether merits are earned or not.  Good posts should be interesting or informative or both.
A quality post does not need to receive merit instantly or a few days after posting. People loss their minds when their self-thought quality post is not merited after a few days.

To receive merit, it needs many contributors: seen by members who have sendable merit including merit sources, and those members have sendable merit at that moment to send. If they are empty when they see a quality post, they skip it and no merit. If they really want to merit it, they will bookmark it and return to merit it days or weeks later.

If months later, someone quotes a quality post, makes it visible, it will have chance to receive merit even it is a very old post.

I agreed also think merit is not matter "post quality" mean helpful or informative post and valuable discussion, quality post with gather number of merits is not true for the factors, But if you keep making helpful posts then you will keep getting merit. "post quality" make to follow for two thinks:-
1. You can share information (but not violate rules or scammed).
2. Help others people when need or solved the problem.

Thanks @The Sceptical Chymist and @BlackBoss_ sharing the value and for encourage new thinking.

Alot of persons on this forum always advise newbies on post quality.my question is simple and on behalf of other newbies like my self is it necessary to monitor your activity and post count in comparison with your merits

Like does it mean  someone with and account say
Activity;50
Merit;87
Post;51

Has more quality post or is a better poster than someone with say
Activity;100
Merit;87
Posts;150

I guess you're having the wrong perception here mate merits, posts, and activity don't matter the quality of the post will just depend on the quality of the post itself. I mean yes high-rank members will have higher posts or merits received and probably could make more quality post than someone that is just a newbie,  but that doesn't mean that all newbies don't have quality posts, newbies definitely could make quality posts Even though he or she was just a newbie, but the higher rank like legendary for sure have a lot of experience on cryptocurrency and would probably make a quality post most of the time. Also the longer the length of the post doesn't mean its a quality post, you need to check the contest of the post, sometimes the post answer was just direct to the point.

You could just depend on the information it has in a post, like sharing experiences knowledge, etc, and if it does answer the topic or the question of the OP you could say that it is a quality post.

As you said, it's called post "quality" not "quantity" so I wasn't even thinking you'd make that comparison anyways ...
Post quality can equally be termed as the value and essence of posting outrightly; anyone could get up and make any post they feel like, but if doesn't answer a question, solve a problem, direct and guide, then that post isn't termed as being "quality"
Alot of people could define that to Thier own discretion but you're just gonna realize that it rhymes and has a common aim, which is ORIENTATION. Since the forum is a community to learn and to unlearn, alot of peeps always feel it's right to teach and learn in the process too.

Another instance is that post quality should not be rewarded base on the numbers of posts made but the quality of insights it's made up of, a quality post is not out of our own individuals discretion to judge on that except we are involved in making such transaction and still get involved to determine wether it's worth a quality standard or not that could receive being merited by someone, so the beholder judge wether your post is a quality post or not under his own best way of understanding quality post a d how he feels the impact of touch through what you've posted.

In short, post quality means how informative, helpful and on-topic your post is. At the same time, you have to keep in mind that if there is an answer in thread on the question, then there is no need to reinvent the wheel and post solution again unless you offer something different and that's why I am posting here because no one has said this:
We learn from examples, right?
So, check out the posts of these people and you'll immediately understand what high quality post means:

There are a lot of people out there who post high quality posts but I can't really tag all of them, it will take some time Cheesy But you can check the post history of these users to really understand what high quality post means and will help you to figure out what's low quality post Cheesy
