I'd say...

1. Apply when they're hiring
2. Market yourself in directories/places where potential clients go
3. Send them personal invites

If you have a past experience (or anything related that could help), that would give you a plus otherwise you could try being active/reputable in the community you're applying. Having a good standing account in well known communities like bitcointalk could help too.

Note: if you're looking to get paid right off the bat, make sure to check if the job is for volunteers or nah.

There’s no way to get this kind of job easily because of the competition on this job is very tough. The majority of crypto freelancer choose this path for job since it’s the easiest way to get extra income online.

You will need a very good portfolio or connection on the team so that they can refer you. This is how some people gets the job easily and not through random application since the team will always choose a user with experience than a newbie. I work as telegram moderator before under a the management of forum member on our local board. The only way I get the job is because the manager is from the forum which I knew on social media. You need to establish your connection or build your portfolio slowly.

You're all suggestions are good and important but here I need to add few things as I am also recently visiting few forums for having information about Bitcoin and crypto but mostly found they are not good or having mostly jobs as volunteers because they have no good income sources.

But still if you want to do then you need to be expert about all things which are important for the mod role or job with you also need to be good in bitcoin and crypto with following forum rules are also important because you have to guide newbies and others for this all just keep going hopefully you will get something positive if you will do this all with consistency.

Are you referring to getting a moderator job on this forum or outside the forum here because you can't compare the two together, if you're referring to getting a moderator's job here then you will have to get yourself enough time to deserve such through your active commitment on the forum and the level of quality contributions you've made to help it's growth, aside this I don't know if there's a season such announcement is being made, maybe Theymos choose a moderator by himself and not like merit source which you can apply for, if it was the external moderators job you means, then try to build your CV and have the required potentials needed to apply for such role when announced.

and also share your experience, if you ever worked at this type of job like how you got that job and what was the process, what strategy you used to qualify for that job.

I've never been a moderator before but if you want to get into one, then be ready to always stay active being online and remain especially when the demands for the job requires such, everything about moderators job is through application when there's vacant position for it.

I think the topic must be in off topic section but let's just leave it to decide for moderators. So you want to become a moderator of some group or community but for that, you have to get some experience. Because once I filled out the application form to become a community support in a telegram group. And the question asked in that forum were easy like qualification and experience plus CV etc.

Well, basically at that time I did have not any experience so I just wrote that I am willing to learn but they were not so I got rejected. For you to get accepted, you must have some experience or at least enthusiasm to work as a dedicated moderator because if you will not love the job it will become non-productive for you.

Don't have the skills to tell about work as a moderator, but you can offer yourself in the service board section that you provide services as a moderator or community manager and most importantly you must also include your Portfolio so that people who need your skills can know your abilities and experience you are the moderator. If this is the first for you and want to try your luck, you really have to have the skills you master.

Generally being a moderator during the pre-crypto days were entirely a thankless job and you wouldn't really have a great time dealing with trolls and shitposters regularly. But with the rise of crypto centered social platforms such as discord and telegram, it has become relatively easier for the applicant to gain a job provided they have good connections with other hardcore crypto enthusiasts and they have established themselves in the community with a good track record of handling insane level of participation and posts.

With regards to being a moderator at platforms such as reddit, you won't be paid as it is a voluntary work and getting anything in return will go against the rules of reddit as well. I currently serve as a mod of r/BitcoinIndia which is one of the most popular crypto platforms in the country where we cumulatively handle an average subscriber traffic of more than 115k bitcoiners. When it comes to forum where you get paid for the moderation you do, as I have already stated in a thread you need to gain tremendous level of trust and report a lot of shitposts from a particular section for you to be considered for the role.

How I became a mod of r/bitcoinIndia was a kinda boring story and I think this happened back when the sub-reddit was so small with 5k bitcoiners and I have been reporting shitposts and requested myself for the role as a helping hand to the head mod of the sub. When Bitcoin boomed during the last bull run, eventually a lot of bitcoiners from India joined and the sub started gaining traction and hence it became a popular and large sub of the country  Smiley

I have never gotten a job on any crypto platform but I would love to share the experience of my friends. How they got their is through networking and recommendation. Networking- they attended crypto events and were active in the sessions. They move around during tea breaks introducing themselves to the guest speakers and other participants. One even requested for a trial, some others got to get a second meeting after the introduction. And they got offers.

For Recommendation, these folks were consistent and built a solid social media presences that they the CEOs reached out to them direct saying we are looking to fill this position and you came highly recommended. And that was how they got the job. A couple of them had no coding skill or background in STEM.

Getting such jobs is not difficult, but most projects would want to pay you with their tokens, which may not have been listed on any exchange. It's always as good as doing a free work. The others that pay with bitcoin is difficult to get, because the project always need experienced people to take up the position. The only method is to keep on searching until you get one, you can also take the free jobs to build portfolios for a better mod job in future. Visit crypto subreddits and freelance forums, there you can find such openings. Also keep an eye on some projects shilled on telegram and reddit, a few of them may need mods for their channel and groups. Goodluck!

Firstly, I'd like to ask - do you have any moderation skills? If no, (cus you sound like you don't) then how are you gonna deliver the job satisfactorily to the clients? Making enquiries on things you dunno at all is as good not even knowing anything asking about it.
Secondly, the crypto space is very competitive and we've got alot of trusted peeps in the system already; it'll take time and much more concentration on any new cat.

OP, getting a mod job should not be a problem but rather have you got any experience? Do you have a portfolio?  because nobody would want to hire a novice to moderate their community because that alone is a disaster not to talk of when he or she is being paid to do the job.

If you lack experience, you can start as a volunteer at first and doing the job for free would grant you more exposure and experience so you could build your portfolio and CV. Then you do your own self marketing.

Seems you want to make money from being a moderator on cryptocurrency platforms. What you need to do is create your work proposal and sent it to new projects so that they can look at it and employ you if you have the kind of service and experience they needed. You need to have experience and knowledge about how to be a moderator and you must have a vast understanding about different cryptocurrency projects so that you will be able to answer questions from people in the community that you are working as a mod. Experience is one of the skills that you needed to get employed.

and also share your experience, if you ever worked at this type of job like how you got that job and what was the process, what strategy you used to qualify for that job.

Firstly make an announcement on this forum of you offering such service and then observed each bounties that get launched on the forum, try to get in contact with the developers of the project and offer your moderation services to them. Preferably make your service free for the first few projects you get in contact with so you can build a very nice and attractive CV that you can used for future application and get hired for your experience and exposure. Do this and you will get one or two projects that'll hire you especially as your service is kind of free and they won't spend money to get you to manage their social platforms.

You can also write the managers of the bounty to link you up if the project they launched campaigns for will be interested in moderators for their social channels. As you get experience you can then search for newly launched project and offer your service to them. Your charges this time shoudn't be too expensive, when you can start requesting for what you feel is worth your pay is when you start getting job offers from other projects looking for moderators on for their platforms. Remember first you need to get the exposure and experience before you start demanding payment.

Build your profile and give that profile professional look. Mods on discord are tech savvy people, gain knowledge about technical stuff of discord and learn how to operate discord properly.

The projects must need to have a moderator for their channels or community; the mods can be treated as a manager of the channels if you want to get hired as mod better to build up your knowledge of how to navigate to the platform they are using next is know how to build social media management or any management related knowledge it's ideal to have a certificate to as your credentials if there's any. Next is build a good reputation, so many projects would like to seek your engagement. As possible, create a portfolio so you don't need to explain too much. Based on my experience as a moderator in the community in a local channel, you always need to keep updated with the projects and manage the people around you to prevent speculation of rugs.

I have seen many people working as moderator or mod for social media platforms like discord, telegram, forums, etc. how to get that kind of jobs easily and what maybe the process of getting a job like this.

and also share your experience, if you ever worked at this type of job like how you got that job and what was the process, what strategy you used to qualify for that job.
If you want to be a moderator on a social media platform just create one. It will be very easy to be a moderator on the social media platform you created. Most moderators of some of these platforms are the owners or creators. Another means of landing a mods' job is by becoming active in the forum and frequently giving positive contributions. If you can also suggest to the operators or owners of the social media platform how to improve the visibility or performance of the venture, you can be employed as a moderator. If your suggestions are creative and have the potency of making the forum achieve its goals, you can be in for a good job. Acquiring skills or professionalism in the field related to the platform and applying for a job as a moderator will also not be a bad idea. You will never know until you try, keep trying.

You must have experience in cryptocurrency, understand very basic knowledge in this field especially scammers, impersonators, cheaters. You must also understand about some security basics like phishing sites, phishing links. You must understand about non custodial wallets, transactions, transaction fees. Many things which you must have to be able to support users, members in those social media channels.

If you have more advanced skills like set up bots on Discord, Telegram, you will be more competitive with your application.

If you think you have good knowledge and skills, you can find jobs.

at least you should already have experience in managing your community. or at least social media groups or channels. it can be quite convincing when you offer your services to potential clients.
develop your relationships by interacting with many people. include in some of your local projects first. The more people know you are a community manager, the better your chances of getting a job.

whatever effort you put in, good luck.

Now that you are aware that you need some experience before you can get accepted into a project that will be willing to pay you a decent amount you should look for a project that has a decent amount of subscribers and that has moderate active users and offer to assist them in moderating the group for free so that you can start developing your portfolio from there if you think you can just apply and you'll get accepted once when you haven't got any experience that's a lie. You can even volunteer to work for campaign managers to moderate their bounty groups ( trust me that place is a hell of a place) and with that, you can even get close to the manager and through them gain connections to larger projects. Remember Rome wasn't built in a day...

I haven't good any job like this and the main reason is that I'm not that interested. But obviously, if you wanted to get a job, just like in real world you have to apply for it and have the background and have experience on the job itself.

So there are no secret strategies, you need to learn the craft. Maybe if you are that inexperience then maybe there could be some companies that are going to hire you but the salary might be small. Don't take that negatively, might be better to accept it and then start from there. Best of luck to you job hunting.

Most of us suggesting to have some experience but at the beginning no one have any kind of experience. So you can try without any experience but have to aquire knowledge how it works and how to be constructive as a mod. So if you are interested to be a Mod in NFT or Altcoin or any other crypto platforms then spend your times on those kind of groups and learn about how to manage everything and be effective as a mod by observing others. That will grow your starting experience.

So now question about getting the Job. You should make a gig
or ad your job in Freelancing Platforms like Fiverr, Upwork and many more. You can get jobs from LinkedIn too so try to build e professional profile there and find clients. Send them job offers or requests and try to convince them.

Another great opportunity can be the Services board of this forum. Here you will see both clients and worker are posting about their services. You may join there. But the competition is much higher.
It would be a little bit tough to start your journey as a mod but not impossible. Wish you all the best.

The moderators job handling community inquiry basically answer all questions regarding the project you are in for that group. So basically the skills needed for that are your communication experience in terms of language speaking either its native or english. Of course thats also included some experience on how to handle technicals on particular platform like telegram and discords. Its hard to compete with this if you dont have background for that.

Just like another user mentioned, it may not be easy to obtain a moderation job, especially without prior professional experience. However, that doesn't mean it is impossible. To increase your chances, it is essential to build a strong portfolio that showcases your relevant past experience.

This portfolio should encompass not only our forum but also all social media platforms where moderation roles are in demand. It is crucial to present your past experience related to the job in the best possible way to effectively market yourself.

I don't think that this thread belongs to the off-topic since this is still somehow related to crpto and to our forum.

I'd say...

3. Send them personal invites

Never send a personal invite or message to anyone who is hiring. They will give you a form to apply on and only from there your application will be viewed.
if you DM someone for a role, they will surely ignore your application for being a mess. If I was hiring someone, I wouldn't recommend anyone to personally message me regarding that.

There would be a forum post or guide available with all the FAQs and rules.

1. Apply when they're hiring
2. Market yourself in directories/places where potential clients go
3. Send them personal invites

In addition to this points above; i would advise that you find networking opportunities in crypto currency too. Find and Join network groups, network channels where there are other crypto currency freelancers, mods, shillers etc because there are always job placements and adverts in those network groups as well.

Make sure to have a linkedin profile as well, well optimized and also add a profile picture too.

Goodluck!

I had similar experience where I was contacted for a moderating job on telegram. I had to send them my  portfolio.  After which, I was told by the team that they would pay in their own native token which is not professional. I had to let them know how it is been done  but I was considerate enough to accept their local token in a lesser percentage but the insist I had no option than letting it go because of my past experience with such agreement and at the entire end it didn't go down well with me as I made a huge loss. My time, my efforts, my commitment, my expertise all for that project, just like that. It really weakened me but I had no option than to move on. The experience was not worth it. So if you have any negotiation of this nature in the nearest future with any project you would know what to do and be plain with them.

The likelihood that you will be invited to work on any forum or telegram group as a moderator depends on your experience and your fame. I had to lead a large group on social networks, but for this, I had to be an ordinary user for a long time and gain some acquaintances, as well as the trust of the people who were the organizers.
I still think that to become a moderator, you need a good knowledge of the areas in which a forum or group can be set up, as well as the ability to be online regularly to be in touch with users almost 24/7.

In my opinion, you should look for projects where they do not have a local community yet other than global.

For example, I am in the Philippines. I saw a project and look on their Discord chat.

After that, I check their global channels to see if there's a Philippines group chat. If there is none, that's where I can reach out to the mods and apply as a moderator for the Philippines community of that project.

Be sure that you make a strong case on why they should be hiring you as a moderator like sending them your resume, cover letter, etc.

There are many projects that are emerging from time to time, so always take time for the opportunity to check if they do not have a local community yet for their project.

Twice, I worked as a Telegram moderator for two Altcoin projects. The first one was in 2021, but along the way, the project died and my work with them stopped. The second one was last year until this year, after which I just stopped working with them in the month of February this year.

The reason I got those two jobs was because of how much I knew about the project. During those years, whenever I came across any Altcoins that I liked, I would devote my time to reading through their white papers and studying the activity going on in their Telegram and Twitter accounts. For the first one, I discovered that their telegram group had no moderator and not much activity, so I became active in that group. People were asking about the project, and I was responding to them. I did that for two days. In the process, I also sent a DM to the CEO of that project, offering to take the job of a telegram moderator. It took about a week plus before he responded to me and thanked me for how helpful I had been in the group. From there, we agreed on some weekly payments, and I started working for them before the project failed along the way.

For the second project I worked on, it almost happened like the first one, but in this case, I became active in their telegram group, but the group admin became angry and warned me never to act as an admin while I was not. I picked it up from there and informed him that I have experience on how to manage a Telegram group and also how to run advertisements for projects on my social handles. He asked me how much I knew about their project, and I answered every one of his questions. He gave me the job last year, but I just decided to resign this year because my activity was too high.

Also, if you want to get that kind of job, you can send those projects an email or send DMs on Twitter, Facebook, Telegram, and Instagram. Just send a proper proposal to them through any fast link you can reach them with.

You just need to apply when you see a company is hiring for those. You have to try it for yourself to see if you're going to be qualified or not.
The last say is still in the company's hiring process and it's not all the time the experience that you have but with the attitude that you'll show them during the interview. But it is better to have a background study and be aware of these positions before you apply so at least, you're still ready for any question related to it. Usually, these companies aren't too difficult to with these hirings especially they're urgently needed.

I remembered my early days as telegram moderator, these were the principles I applied  to securing my telegram moderating jobs then. I do make sure i study the white paper of the project to make sure I am always active and replying to questions from investors and members of the telegram community. One day the CEO of a particular project was asking me series of questions on the platform as an investor  whilst i had no idea he was the owner of the project i responded to him with facts and details he was marveled and he sent me a pm and there he asked if i can moderate the telegram group i agreed and  I had to start work immediately. That was how i began to gain experience and knowledge on telegram community moderating.
OP can start this way as this is how you can get the experience too and it would make you have reliable source and contact to always give you jobs in the nearest future based on recommendations.

Well except you an alien from another world then the system of hiring in the cryptocurrency world is same as how people in other aspect hire, there is no special thing here for you to know or understand that you haven't heard already.

First competency, it's only those who merit the job description that gets the job so you have to have a good competence level and if you don't you can actually go and build yourself. Then create awareness you can do that by promoting your service and hopefully it would get to your prospective employer, and very importantly having a positive attitude.

If you have had former experience on moderating, you would probably be led to the right place. The best thing you can do is study up on what interests you most about cryptocurrencies and build the knowledge, then you can put into practice the best advice you can get here.

I don't know much about moderating, but I can say that when you show more interest in the betterment of an idea, you would have unknowingly gone through an interview phase and what would be left is simply to ask. Which is what you have done.

I ever see that some bounties campaigns pay people to be modertor (or something like that) on telegram to direct the audience / their crypto fans then keep the discussion on the telegram is active and keep it stay conducive.

You can find some bounties like that here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=238.0 after that you can apply as like you apply any bounties on this forum.

I know of some friends whose side hustles include moderating social media groups or channels. One is hired through somebody who's connected to a group who offers social media moderation. Another participated in a paid online training class. She paid tens of dollars. Right after the short course, she was immediately assigned a moderation task. She was able to refer a few friends for the same job. There are also others who went through platforms like Fiverr, Upwork, and the like.

So there a number of ways to get such jobs. You can even offer such services here on the forum. I bet there are also campaigns here which include translation and moderation.

Get jobs from friends' introductions is one of ways to have jobs in cryptocurrency. But nothing comes without reason, you must show your friends that you are capable to handle those tasks and when chances come, he will introduce you to company and if luckily enough, you will be hired by the company.

Different social medial groups and channels require different skills of moderation and a newbie can start with one or two familiar channels like Telegram or Discord. Handling social media accounts like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram will require more knowledge and more skills. It's not easy like with Telegram and Discord.

If you can use bots to help your moderation in Telegram and Discord, better chance to be hired.

Is actually very hard to get a mod job, if not almost everybody would have become a mod, some persons get a mod work based performance by contributing and offers solution to their telegram group, I was on a group with serious discussion about a topic and a guy among us were good on that topic as such he contributed and offers solution, so immediately the manager ask him if could work for them as mod, so that's how he got the job. So sometimes to get a job as a mod you need to showcase your talent and you will noticed.

Though in most cases some projects select their mod internally before even coming public but is best for you to follow up new project which are starting new.

Yeah, that's just how it is, my friend. The first time I did the moderator's work, it was just my first experience with it, and I think the CEO asked if I had been experienced, which I think I said yes, where as I was not, but I just got along very well with the job, and he always commended me for doing a nice job always. The last one I got last year before I stopped this year was so demanding of me because I had to integrate some Telegram bots into the group. I had not done it before, but immediately the CEO asked me to integrate the bot on that Telegram group. I said okay, rushed to YouTube, grabbed some videos, and learned how to do it. I did it and made some mistakes, which I still fixed. For the OP, I think he can also prepare himself for such a situation.

Also, OP, I would like to add that if you want to get a moderator job like you asked, you should also look out for mostly new altcoin projects; some of them do really need moderators.

Absolutely, doing a search for new altcoin projects would help OP in getting potential mod jobs because they would be open  to looking for work force as they are new to the system. If OP is really ready to start a good mod job and getting experience on the job, Op would need to do as you have said. Another thing is upgrading in skills like learning how to integrate bot into the telegram group just as you have said which made it easier for you. I believe OP should put that into consideration as well because all these would add up to experience and skills added to CV.
