You can very much have a section which you feel will attract other users just as we have Off-topic and Politics & Society. You cannot guarantee that people will use those boards and they definitely cannot be the main attraction on the forum if the theme is a crypto forum.

I will recommend you just include an Off-topic section and everyone can make whatever post they will want, be it celebrity gossips or sports news (which could be in the gambling section as we have here).

Do not expect people to be attracted by one thing and then switch to another, there are already so many gossip blogs and sports outlets.

Nope, its not bitcointalk anymore if you put local news,celebrity discussion and other more. It became showbiz talk if you add stuff like that.

Bitcointalk should be Bitcoin and crypto topic only. And beside you could just start that discussion on out of topic section regarding on what topic you want to discuss.

The OP is suggesting this off topic on other forum that he is planning to launch on our local. He is not suggesting to add this off topic on our local board in Bitcointalk but some local board already have this off-topic thread and even the global has the off-topic board dedicated for other subject from Bitcoin. Even theymos consider the possibility of accomodating this kid of topic here in the forum to become open for anyone.

Nope — because there's no way that people will be using Bitcointalk for things outside of bitcoin/crypto. Platforms like Facebook/Instagram/Twitter/Reddit/etc already exist for those purposes. Bitcointalk will always be a niche community.

The lazy ones are the one who go to Facebook and the rest social media, bitcointalk is like another world on its own they need to study before being conversant with the platform and those who are already deep routed into bitcointalk may likely finds it very difficult to cope with other social media. For instance, someone like me finds it very difficulty to start putting my eyes on those local site and social media because I always pay much attention to this forum.

yeah, it's good to have a variety of topics/interests on a forum to keep people engage on other things and not just talking about cryptocurrency(it's not that there is something about it), but having those varieties doesn't mean it would attract more people or traffic to that forum. what I am saying is, while including more topics/interests on your forum is good, you'll still need more than those things in order to actually attract more traffic to your forum.

It's good that you know Symbianize is a good model for what a local forum should be, it's customized to local needs many people think that a forum is not good unless its monetize for users but I still believe that there are people who take their interests to another level by being an influence in their niche, I've seen forums that are still going for many years with members having thousands of posts and there are no incentives being members.

We are still contemplating the name and the language that will be used will be in a native language.

That's good, but it's unpredictable how many users will be absorbed before knowing how much interest local netizens have in entertainment topics. And tbh, I don't think people would take that long to intensively discuss something like that in a forum. From the many social media and news platforms that I know in my local area, the average visitor only makes 1 comment and then leaves, and so on.

It will delay the growth of the site, because it won't be focusing on a specific content. Google love sites with similar kinds of contents, it shows the site is enriched with bitcoin knowledge. I understand, you'd want uninterested crypto folks to stumble upon cryptocurrency and pick interest. It's difficult to convert the entertainment traffics into bitcoin lovers, they'll remain completely passive about crypto. Although, few people can be converted, yet the site will suffer from distractions. The growth of your site is the first priority, so any feature that can dwindle the success of the site you're building should be removed.

Is it good for local forums to include other interests to attract more traffic, we all know Bitcointalk is an international forum dedicated to the promotion of Bitcoin, and being the first makes them the number one forum about Bitcoin, if you're going to launch a local forum is it good to add other interests like local news, local celebrity gossip, local sports to attract more local users.

The strategy is to get other people with other interests in the forum to get them to know about Cryptocurrency which is the main theme of the forum.

I would like to highlight that I am launching a local Cryptocurrency forum there's a misinterpretation of my post I should have included this, anyway got a few domain names and we are in the selection process. 

I do not think that we should include other things in the forum which have absolutely nothing to do with cryptocurrency. Bitcointalk is not a general forum for whatever, its a forum for Bitcoin first and (other) cryptocurrency second. Sure, we may have sub forums which have less to do with cryptocurrency, but they are always deeply intertwined with it.

Also, I do not see a need to attract more users. The forum is doing really well as it is.

If anything, new people coming in that have no interest in cryptocurrency in the first place might dilute the very essence of Bitcointalk itself and make it into "generaltalk". Although on the other hand, we might create interest in crypto for people who were not interested in it before. But thats not a good enough argument to overhaul our image.

From what I have understood that you are going to make a forum totally different from BTT just like a new website with different domain name. Am I right? Or I misunderstood your statement. Because their is no need to buy domains etc. If you wanted to make your own board for local community here on this forum.

But I think you can not directly gain board for your local community but you will be provided or allowed to make a topic or thread in which your local community members will reply and have conversation. Just like our community.

If you wanted to made another forum dedicated to local community then either your local community will spend time there instead of here or if you wanted to make local community here on BTT if you have none then it is good idea to make one. But as per your voting I think mostly people are not in favor of making other topics in your local board such as politics and celebrities.

Because you are dedicating this forum of yours for Crypto enthusiasts which means other topics becomes non related so it is better to not add them at start. Maybe if you observe the traffic is lower then your expectations then you should include other topics too.

Although, Bitcointalk was created for Bitcoin purposes. However, it is later used as a cryptocurrency forum and as a platform for information related to the blockchain, cryptocurrency, announcement of new or old established blockchain projects, and announcements.

That's not what I know about how Google interacts with a site, Google valued the age of the domain, and unique content, so a blog with PR4 and the blog deals with the Economy and blogs about a phone that topic about a phone will rank up because the topic is in a PR4 blog because it satisfies Google parameters, so I can give you one example we have this forum about Bitcoin and there is one topic about

UAE is the biggest buyer of Russia's gold

we can't connect UAE and its gold on topic about Bitcoin but it shows up in the first page for the keywords UAE is the biggest buyer of Russia's gold that's because there is a discussion about UAE buying Russian Gold here in Bitcointalk.

It's not about specific content, it's all about parameters

Maybe we can have a section about celebrities here in Bitcointalk after a few months all those topics will land on the first pages of Google.

Ehh, stop over glorifying Bitcointalk. Let's not act as if Bitcointalk is the go-to place if you're smart and research-oriented and all that — because most people here don't do research either. Very evident due to the amount of low-quality posts.

Yes, it's good to get more topics going. If limited to only Bitcoin discussion, that could be monotonous and boring. Monotony, they say, kills interest. Getting other interests apart from that on Bitcoin will surely excite and energize posts and opinions. For instance, there are members who come here without having the faintest idea of what Bitcoin is. Such members should've somewhere to start from while grappling with discussions on Bitcoin.

No one is disputing that and I believe the major reason it remains number one and top over other fora isn't because it was the first to be created but because of its post and earn opportunity. I'm yet to see another forum that's like this forum in terms of such incentives.

Nope, I wouldn't say there's any of such in my country, Nigeria. However, we do have many P2P groups on WhatsApp and Telegram.

Yeah its really boring if we can only see generic post and generic replies coming from different people but I guess the administrators already solve this issue that's why off topic boards in every local section exist. So that people can post those bitcoin or crypto unrelated stuff there. But unfortunately not everyone us using that board since most of off topic board is not monetized or their post is not counted that's why we see those off topic boards have less human interactions.

I will be locking this thread, for now, thanks to those who drop and post their idea, opinion, and reviews I will just update this thread when I got a domain hopefully in a week, unfortunately, the domains that I research and found interesting are not available, those are good domains for a local forum in my country and its unfortunate that they are parked.
