When someone has a particular wallet which he spends Bitcoins from can he be considered a Bitcoin investor?
Or does the term investor refer only to those who hodl Bitcoin?

I can simply define you Bitcoin investor. Anyone who owns a Bitcoin holds it or does daily trading is called a Bitcoin investor. However, if we talk in general then every person who buys Bitcoin invests in it and waits for some time that its price will be increased sometime are the bitcoin investors. On the other side if a person has a wallet then he is just doing some payment transactions from it and he is not coming from this category but if he buys Bitcoin with the expectation for the future that its price will increase then he is considered to be an investor. Every person has their own definition and does not agree on one so it's my self opinion.

Let's first talk about Investment. What actually is an investment?

An investment is an asset or item acquired with the goal of generating income or appreciation. Appreciation refers to an increase in the value of an asset over time. When an individual purchases a good as an investment, the intent is not to consume the good but rather to use it in the future to create wealth.
Source: Click here

So as you can see, if you are making a profit from something or that thing is increasing in value over time, that's an investment. You set a goal and you work for it.
If someone is hodling Bitcoin in their wallet and spending it little by little while also making profits or the value is increasing over time, then yeah, he could be considered as an investor. But if he is spending without any goal and just as a payment method, he's a Bitcoin user, not an investor.

Also, not only those who are hodling are called investors. There are other ways you can accumulate/acquire Bitcoin. By trading, mining and storing(HODL). In every way, your goal is to make profits out of the time or money you spend on it. Those are the Bitcoin investors.

Probably Bitcoin adopter would be a more accurate term on this case. This person has been using Bitcoin as currency on his daily life for purchases and negotiations and doesn't seem to have long term financial returns as a goal. That is the difference between him and Bitcoin investors.

However, I think the hypothetical situation you mentioned is really unlikely, because everyone dealing with Bitcoin daily, being them traders, merchants, freelancers must also be Bitcoin investors, because they understand the potential benefits of holding a portion of BTC on their wallets thinking on future bull runs which have potential to boost the currency's price to new ATH levels. I don't believe there is any Bitcoin adopter who isn't a Bitcoin investor at same time.

Both long and short time bitcoin holders are investors and it doesn't matter if they are spending from their wallet often or not, bitcoin is what anyone can have and spend at his convenience each time they wish to release their holdings, we have to also understand that a decentralized currency like bitcoin needs more understanding from us in realising that it's a currency that only exist in digital form which we can decide to exchange, hold or accumulate more as we want each time we so wish as an investor.

For me being an investor means that your primary end is making money out of something, no matter what. If you just use something than you're a user. If you buy an iPhone you're not an investor because you use the product but if you buy the stock than you're an investor. If you buy and hold bitcoin you can be an investor, if you just need bitcoin to send money (which is its goal by the way) you're a user.

The investor is someone injecting funds into the Bitcoin market with the aim of making a profit from its high volatility, development, and adoption.  No matter how they use the Bitcoin they bought as long as they plan to make a profit out of their injected money though most investors will hodl until the Bitcoin price in the market hits their target selling price, it is the goal of the person whether he will become a Bitcoin investor or not.  Just like when someone buys BTC to use it for the daily transaction and is not aiming for profit but only for convenience then this person is only a user.

I think everyone who has or still holds bitcoin can be called a bitcoin investor. As with investing in other instruments, such as the stock market or gold, investors can enter and exit at any time. And that's not a problem because everyone wants to profit from bitcoin price movements. We must be careful in determining when we need to buy bitcoin and hold it and when we sell bitcoin.

But if I have a lot of money, I want to hold some of my assets in bitcoins for a long time and some to trade in bitcoins (daily or weekly trading - scalping)

Even from the definition of what is said about being investor, --- “An investor is a person who allocates financial capital with the expectation of a future return or to gain an advantage.”

So I guess it's someone that HODLs, because they always have the expectations of a future return and not in a hurry of spending. And these people also invest huge amount, and not just money for coffee ☕

Thats actually correct but most of the so called investor are always tempering with their holdings and some of the reasons for this is because of the lack of understanding and knowledge of actually investing or maybe they rely on their investment for lively hood and this can make an investor lose focus and scatter his whole plan of investing because he doesn't have means where other funds are coming from

Indeed, in terms of investing in BTC, many people tend to hold it for a long time, which is what is called an investor, but in this case of course there are many different opinions, but in my opinion, investing in short-term BTC is also not a problem, such as 3 days or 5 days. It is important that there are benefits to be gained.

but your opinion is really good too and very easy to understand.

But for those who are using bitcoin as currency and payment method, they don't care about bitcoin profits then they cannot be called investors. Bitcoin is so volatile that it can be profitable even if many people do not use it to make a profit. But that doesn't mean they are also considered bitcoin investors.

To me, those who are intending to find ways to profit from bitcoin are called investors. We cannot equate people as investors just because they own bitcoin but have no intention of making money from it.

The term bitcoin investment basically refers to people who buy and hold bitcoins. You cannot become an investor just by using bitcoins, becoming an investor requires high skill and experience. For example, if a person trades Bitcoin daily and holds it for a long time or holds it for a short period of time, they can be called an investor. And if you invest your money in bitcoins, then you are definitely an investor too.

In simple terms, if you are waiting for a profit, no matter if you have a skill or experience, holding a bitcoin doesn't require it, but it is a must because you know there are tons of ups and downs, which for sure your emotions will follow also. So I would say as long as you are waiting for a return, but if you're just spending it, then you can't be called an investor, unless you say that you will wait a few more days or weeks to see if the price of Bitcoin goes up before you convert it or use it, which can be called holding.

I don't think there is anyone who spends bitcoin as soon as they buy it. Maybe in the case of having received it as a payment for something it could be, but  normally, even if you tend to spend it, you will hold on to it for a while, so you can be considered an investor, especially if you expect to make a profit from it.

For me, an investor is above all someone who acquires an asset hoping to make a profit from it, holding it for a certain period of time, but above all who knows the asset he is buying and the market well. That for me is the difference between an investor and a gambler

That's right no one using bitcoin is an investor who holds bitcoin for the long term and stays in one place despite the ups and downs of the market, they are usually professionals. Knowledge about investment and crypto market is high real investors use them not only to earn money but also as an option in trading or investing. They usually want to grow the investment year after year using bitcoin to give you a high return on your capital.

A Bitcoin investor can vary in terms of background, motivations, and investment strategies and they usually fall under these range ;

1. Early Adopters: Individuals who recognized Bitcoin's potential early on and acquired Bitcoin when it had a relatively low value. Many early adopters are technology enthusiasts who were intrigued by the concept of a decentralized digital currency.

2. Speculators: Some investors are attracted to Bitcoin's price volatility and potential for high returns. They actively trade Bitcoin, trying to profit from short-term price movements. Speculators aim to buy low and sell high, taking advantage of market fluctuations.

3. Long-term Investors: These investors have a belief in the long-term value and potential of Bitcoin. They tend to hold Bitcoin as a long-term investment, often motivated by the idea that its limited supply and growing adoption may drive up its value over time.

4. Institutional Investors: As Bitcoin has gained prominence and regulatory clarity has improved, various institutional investors such as hedge funds, asset management firms, and even publicly traded companies have started exploring investments in Bitcoin. Their motivations can range from diversification of their portfolios to hedging against inflation and economic uncertainties.

5. Individuals in Regions with Economic Instability: In countries experiencing political or economic instability, some people turn to Bitcoin as a way to protect their wealth from potential devaluation of their national currency, capital controls, or restrictions placed on traditional banking systems.

It's important to note that these categories can overlap, and individual investors may have different combinations of motivations and strategies. Each investor's approach to Bitcoin can differ based on their risk tolerance, investment goals, and understanding of the cryptocurrency market.

When someone has a particular wallet which he spends Bitcoins from can he be considered a Bitcoin investor?
Or does the term investor refer only to those who hodl Bitcoin?
The term bitcoin investment basically refers to people who buy and hold bitcoins. You cannot become an investor just by using bitcoins, becoming an investor requires high skill and experience. For example, if a person trades Bitcoin daily and holds it for a long time or holds it for a short period of time, they can be called an investor. And if you invest your money in bitcoins, then you are definitely an investor too.
In simple words we can say that those who wait for profit by investing in Bitcoin or those who buy Bitcoin with the intention of profit are called Bitcoin investors. In this case, it is not just about doing the transaction. Here there can be profit or loss in investment. When you gain or lose by purchasing, both will be marked as investment. Generally we consider who invest in bitcoin for a long time. Someone can asked, can I be an investor if I can make a small profit by selling bitcoins on the same day I bought them? I think he is also an investor because he invested for earning money. Generally Bitcoin investors are those who invest with the intention of making profit by buying and selling Bitcoins.

When one commits money or capital all for the sake of making financial gain/profit, such a one is considered an investor. In the case where the financial commitment is done with cryptocurrency, or in this case BTC, the person can be called a Bitcoin investor.
A Bitcoin or crypto trader is an investor as well as anyone who HODLs BTC short or long term. Also committing an ample amount of time to a potential profit venture, is an investment too.
The aim of an investor is to make more gain or double their capital and it really does matter alot  the strategy or kind of venture one intends to invest in.

holding Bitcoin in wallet without investing or trading it, doesn't make someone an investor. you will only called an investor when you are trading on your Bitcoin and making profits.

Or does the term investor refer only to those who hodl Bitcoin?
My understanding is that a Bitcoin investor is someone who holds Bitcoin for an extended period of time with the intention of profiting, whether it is for a lengthy or brief period of time. The investor is an investor if the only goal is financial gain. Everyone has reasons for holding cryptocurrencies, and I believe that the majority of people who have Bitcoin in their wallets are holding for the sake of making profits.
