Reserved Posts that didn't Used

I just noticed some contests in the 'Service' section where some participants replied as 'reserved' but didn't actually post their entry or participate in the contest. I noticed this since I've been participating in some of those contests and waiting for their entries to compare my work to theirs and only to end up with nothing (LOL).

Here are some of the contests that have ended, but the reserved posts are still there and didn't use:

I don't think there is anything that needs to be done since those posts won't even count for the weekly post quarter.
The reservation was made with expectations that they could be able to finish up their work and submit it, but sometimes either the participants forget about the work or, due to schedule, they end up not meeting up with the contest, which will leave the reservation blank. If it's on a self-moderated topic, it will be left to the manager to do justice to that and save the Moderators the stress. If you have already reported them to moderators, then I think that's all that could be done. Since there are no rules set by the contest managers that they are breaking, they are all good to go.

I don't think even mods would delete the reserve posts, especially if the contest is still on going. The only other way around would be a campaign manager who has set up a self-moderated thread and does not tolerated reserved posts, otherwise it's no big deal.

You do not need to report such posts. I am surprised that someone will feel like to report such posts.

Even if the contest is no more ongoing, moderators may not delete the post. I do not think if the person that created the thread made the thread to be self-moderated, that he will delete the reserved posts. Such posts do not deteriorate the thread.

Reserved in a contest means you have the intention to participate and will work on your entry,  the contest manager will have a grasp of those who have intentions to participate, if the participants did not post their entry that means they decide not to continue maybe because they have seen better entries or they cannot finish their work in time.

Urge the poster to remove and advise them not to do the same in the future.

Mods can't ensure the user's initiative with the reserved post so there's some doubt. If the contest is currently running, your report may be rated as bad because entrants will likely literally fill the post with their work seconds before it ends. I personally wouldn't do anything with those posts.

I don't think the reserve post is necessary anymore cause you are not going to accepted in signature campaigns and contests on the first come first serve basis which was followed in way lot back years so anyone who deserves the place will get a spot.

Rather than debating reserve post isn't need to be deleted or should be deleted, it's better if you take an action. Have you try to report all of those reserved post? I've report few posts and let's see what's the moderator will do with my report.

Yeah, based on logic there's no reason to create reserved post because there's no difference with user who's apply or submit in the first with the last one. But they're not breaking the forum rules, so there's nothing harm with it.

You do not need to report such posts. I am surprised that someone will feel like to report such posts.

I definitely wouldn't if they're in a sig campaign thread that's accepting applicants or some other type of thread where posting "reserved" could be useful (unless those posts are outdated, and even then it's probably a waste of time), but just yesterday I came across a member whose entire post history consisted of "reserved" posts, and they were all in altcoin ANN threads, all from a few months ago, and it didn't make sense to me why this user made them.

I just checked my reporting history and couldn't see it, but I did report one of that dude's posts with a note to the mods that his whole history of posts were just "reserved".  If someone happens to stumble across a situation like that, personally I'd suggest reporting it.  I think the mods would take action (like they apparently did with my report), and it helps to keep the forum tidied up....somewhat, anyway.

From what I experienced those people didn't meet up to submit their entries and maybe they likely failed up with the contest haven seen lots of participants who participated in that contest and they may think even if they submit it they won't win any prize. In some cases mod might get them deleted or leave it since is not spam because I believe if their entries were submitted there's no way those posts would had been deleted.

When competition opens, there might be assumptions that early entries will get more attention. Some members feel that it's necessary to reserve the first page so that their entries will not be lost on page two and others. But this is not the case because the panel of judges will always scrutinize all the entries even if they are on the last page of the thread. There is no need to reserve these slots because participants can always post their entries when they are through with their work. This will help reduce the unnecessary reserved posts that litter some competition threads.

But if you are too concerned about these reserved posts, it will not be out of place to send them a personal message. It would serve as a reminder for them to consider their post. Many of them might have forgotten that they made such reservations or they didn't meet up with the competition deadline.

Bounty and signature campaign managers also do that and that would be to create enough space for themselves to make further announcements if there were any in future. I think that was where the "reserved" thing started from. It then got hightened during the "first come, first serve" era of picking hunters for campaigns in 2017/2018. Then managers would just pick participants based on FCFS basis and not merit. Even when the merit thing came up, once applicants were able to meet the merit requirement they were picked based on who applied first.

Now, selection isn't that way any more. How things changed. Really, it's no big deal. Obviously, those who posted reserved and not delete it after 24hrs must've forgotten they did and that's why it's still there. It's no big deal. The mods should be able to pick such up.

I did in the past and the post deleted by mods as well that is why I am saying that others also can consider reporting that posts that will no longer useful in any thread. Some people post one word as post in the middle of a thread and come back later at the end of the day or week to write all of them at once it also can be reported and also to the campaign managers cause they are abusing the daily counted post cap by this trick.

I don't understand why users besides the thread starter would reserve posts.

- If a contest lasts a month, you have one month to submit your entries. They don't have to be on the first page and you don't have to "signal" to anyone that you are participating.
- If there are limited places, a knowledgeable campaign manager will accept entries by those users who actually submitted the finished tasks in time, not made reserved post that they later edited.
- The same should be true if payment will only be sent to the first 10 participants, for example. All the manager has to do is check the last edited time and date.

That's the best we can do, i never participated in any contest like this, but I did use the reserved technique to book my post reply so that i remain on top but i change the reserved status to the required information for which I have reserved the post count quickly. So that, i would not forget about it after.

This is used by many members of this platform and many forget to fill their posts again or maybe some might have left it unchanged on purpose. The reason could be anything, but other than just reporting to moderators i do not think we can do anything else.

if the thread in question is self-moderate, you can try and report it to the thread creator. other than reporting it to the mods and the thread creator if the thread is self-moderated, there is nothing more that we can do.

to be honest, an unused "reserved post" is such a non-issue that a thread like this should not even be made.

Reserving a post doesn’t make sense. It doesn’t gave you an advantage when your post is on top even on tournament, giveaways or signature campaign application. It doesn’t count too for signature camapign quota unless you are doing a reserve now post later method which is technically cheating on signature campaign just to fill post quota.

I notice a lot of this post on Roobet art contest which is not necessary since Hhampuz browse all the application from first to last submission as long as it was submitted during the deadline.

I didn't realized that this is cheating and i never joined contest as i aforementioned and i never used reserved post method in joining signature Compaign. I was a bounty hunter before and i hope you do not know that some bounties are limited for some participants so whenever i new bounty came.

Many users just reserved the post count and then after filling the form they edit their POA. I hope you understand what i am saying. And who failed to edit their POA their request to join the compagin is rejected. This was that simple. So, I don't think this cheating has anything to do with forum rules well that's what i hope. And i have no idea about any contest because so far i never joined them so i never posted reserved post there.
