It appears that there be a competition between Blackrock and other investment firms on tokenisation on real world assets. This investment fund in the news, Skybridge Capital has declared that the winner of this will be Solana because of the lower fees and faster transactions.

However, Blackrock has supported Ethereum and it has an ETF for this. I speculate that Blackrock might also begin a partnership with Coinbase to use their layer 2 for faster transactions and cheaper fees.

What about XRP? I thought it was going to be the chain of choice for companies launching RWAs. It's even older than Solana itself. At least, they've chosen a less-centralized alternative. Solana (although a constant victim of network outages in the past) has been growing exponentially over the years since launch. It's almost as big as Ethereum. So it would make sense for BlackRock and the likes to adopt it for RWAs.

XRP fanboys are going to be whining big time. It's likely the chain will remain without use cases forever. As for "De-Fi", we all know it doesn't truly live up to its name. Around 90% of so-called "De-Fi" projects are centralized. I'm afraid RWAs will live on a hybrid model (centralized/decentralized) as this proves to be most convenient for big corporations and governments. At least, not all hope is lost. Who's to say they'll also use Bitcoin in the long run?

@Abiky. I do not know about XRP and RWA. What I know about Ripple is it has close connections with the Donald and they have begun close relationships with some executives in the traditional banking industry in America. We can only wait for the news on this.

Also, the XRP fanboys do not care if DeFi will be used in Ripple. They only care about the pump and they will certainly dump hehehehe, very much similar to much of the altcoin holders.

RWA was a failure during the bull markets before. However, on the present bull market, the cryptospace has begun to witness the largest investors from traditional finance enter and as predicted when I created this thread, RWA will certainly become the next trending storyline.

Blackrock has partnered with Ethena Labs to create Convergence chain. This might be the next blockchain to enter the top 10 on coinmarketcap.com.



The market value of tokenized U.S. Treasuries this week surpassed the $5 billion for the first time, rwa.xyz data shows, as demand for blockchain-based real-world assets (RWAs) accelerates.

The asset class grew by $1 billion through just two weeks, led by inflows into asset management giant BlackRock's and digital asset firm Securitize's market leading BUIDL.

It has been 2 years already since I have created this thread and RWA for the cryptospace has been a storyline since 2017. However, it is only presently that RWA is beginning to become more popular in the cryptospace because this RWA is more attractive for institutional investors who are only beginning to enter the cryptospace.

I predict that in 2 years, RWA might be where the biggest profits will be created.



Stablecoins are only a fraction of what the real-world asset, or RWA, sector could become.

According to new research from Standard Chartered Bank released Wednesday, the non-stablecoin RWA market could see significant growth over the coming years.

“The key lesson from tokenisation efforts so far is that it is pointless to tokenise an asset simply for the sake of tokenising it,” Geoff Kendrick, global head of digital assets research at Standard Chartered Bank, said in the report.

“The tokenised asset needs to be cheaper, quicker to settle, and/or create access for more investors than its offchain equivalent.”

Honestly I thought stablecoin narrative is fading after usual money, but it seems the narrative is being pushed to the front again. I'm sure the effect of circle going public and become a success plays a big role.

Now i'm seeing RWA focused stablecoin like openeden, noble, and so on. They trying to stay in the RWA narrative by backing their stabelcoin with real bond not some delta neutral hedging.
I think they will become hit again soon now that the GENIUS act has passed.

Let's not forget that stablecoins are all part of the plan to indirectly introduce CBDCs to the public. In other words, stablecoins will replace CBDCs in the long run. As for RWAs, it won't be long before they're integrated into public blockchain networks. I'm talking about assets tokenized on the Blockchain such as Diamond, Silver, Gold, Real Estate, Oil, etc.

At the time of this writing, we only have tokenized Gold and Silver assets. But Oil, Diamond, and even Real Estate? That is yet to happen. I seem to recall BlackRock showing interest in RWAs on the Blockchain. Will they use the XRP Ledger for this? Considering that XRP is centralized, I wouldn't be surprised if they do so. Either way, it looks like "De-Fi" will be here to stay for a long time. Just my opinion.

Decentralization has always been a "buzz word" in the "De-Fi" space. 99% of projects aren't as  decentralized as they claim to be. Developers wisely use the term "decentralized" to help attract the masses into their project. I think "De-Fi" will turn into a hybrid solution in the future (CeDeFi), as centralizing forces continue to dominate the industry. RWAs would most likely succeed within centralized platforms. Not the other way around.

With BlackRock getting interested in RWAs, we all know where this is heading into. It's "Wall Street's game" now. We will trade stuff without actually owning anything. That's the future of RWAs, I'm afraid.

RWA is short for real world assets. BlackRock CEO Larry Fink mentioned in an interview in the Fox news channel that they can create more tokenization of assets and securities. Similar to the other trending storylines of the past, the next big storyline might be for the tokenization of real world assets and there are platforms in DeFi being developed for this already.

The RWA market is still small in size compared to traditional financial markets. The liquidity of tokenized assets, especially for large and expensive assets, is not as high as in traditional markets. This creates a barrier to attracting investors. In addition, the use of RWAs as collateral in DeFi platforms has not yet become widespread. RWA needs to mature more, but that does not mean it has no potential. Who knows, maybe we will see the RWA sector be understood and create a major transformation like Bitcoin over time.

@Balmain. Agreed on that it needs to mature, however, I disagree to what you are implying that it might not become the next trending storyline. I speculate that there will be a big dump on the cryptospace and the investors of cryptocoins will move some of their funds to RWA for safety while the cryptospace is on a bear market. I have created this thread on 2023 speculating that the next big storyline might be RWA, real world assets that will be issued and traded onchain. The SEC just dropped its long-awaited "innovation exemption," giving qualifying platforms a five-year window to operate markets for tokenized U.S. stocks without registering as full national securities exchanges.

Until now, a company that wanted to build a U.S. market for tokenized stocks would bring buyers and sellers together, and regulators could treat it like a traditional stock exchange. That meant potentially having to fit blockchain trading into rules designed for venues like the NYSE and Nasdaq.

Now that's changed.

The SEC will essentially allow firms to experiment with trading real stocks on public blockchains without forcing the technology to conform to the traditional exchange rulebook. And the word “real” is the big distinction here. The SEC is drawing a line between tokens that actually represent ownership of a stock and products that merely track its price.

Under this temporary five-year sandbox, specialized platforms known as Tokenized Securities Venues, or TSVs, can facilitate trading in eligible tokenized U.S. stocks through smart contracts and liquidity pools without registering as national securities exchanges. Certain firms that provide liquidity to those pools can separately receive relief from dealer registration requirements.

Simply put: The tech borrows a DeFi-style plumbing with securities-market controls layered on top.

The IMF has begun to research on tokenized stocks. This does not give assurance that it will be a big usecase on the next bull market, however, it certainly implies that RWA through tokenized stocks will be a big storyline for the cryptospace!



Tokenized stocks are already delivering two of crypto’s long-promised benefits: round-the-clock trading and the ability to buy a fraction of a share. They are also markedly less liquid and more volatile than the conventional equities they track, according to a new International Monetary Fund (IMF) study.

The IMF’s latest Global Financial Stability Report, titled Scaling Tokenization: New efficiencies and new vulnerabilities, examines the five most actively traded tokenized U.S. equities, including Tesla (TSLA), Nvidia (NVDA) and Alphabet (GOOG) as well as measures such as the Nasdaq 100 Index, across centralized and decentralized venues.

Imho those visions that seem like best selling points of the whole RWA tech, like automated dividend payments, non-custodial ownership and permissionless transactions. They are near impossible hurdles to overcome, because they are clashing with regulations by their very core tech. And that's really hard to change without moving to basically centralized markets (which exist already).

So i am skeptical and i am seeing only the use case as synthetics (pegged value) for trading pairs.

@o48o. On your speculation that regulations will be a hurdles, yes you are correct. However, regulations are presently becoming more friendlier for the cryptospace because much of the big crypto companies have begun to donate both to Republicans and Democrats.

My prediction, on 2029 after the Donald has stepped down from the presidency, RWA on the blockchain will become a priority. There will be favored crypto companies but much of the others will be regulated through enforcement!



SEC rolls out long-awaited 'innovation exemption' for tokenized securities venues

Blockchain-based trading venues that want to list and trade tokenized securities received fresh permission and an explanation of how to do that from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Thursday.

The SEC unveiled its long-awaited tokenization exemption on Thursday morning, formally granting these so-called "tokenized securities venues" (TSVs) the ability to provide automated market makers and liquidity pools that, in turn, can be used to trade tokenized securities. These companies will have a five-year "conditional exemption" from having to meet the definition of an "exchange" in U.S. securities law, according to the SEC.

Goldman, Wells Fargo, Morgan Stanley see tokenization as a growth play, not a threat

blockchain, has been generating headlines in recent months, with a growing number of companies saying they’re offering, or planning to offer, versions of equities, bonds and commodities that can be traded around the clock with few, if any, geographic restrictions.

Not surprisingly, Wall Street's biggest banks are also examining the technology, and this week’s third-quarter earnings calls allowed executives the opportunity to voice a clearer picture of where they think the business is headed, though none put a revenue figure on the opportunity.
