I strongly agree with you on this. It's easier for people to go on dropping lots of different suggestions on how to quit as an addict. I presume they will get to know better when they find themselves in the shoes of extreme addiction there then they will come to a realization that it's not as easy as they make it look. Addiction is parallel to hunger, when hunger comes you don't feel comfortable and settled till you satisfy your hunger by feeding same with gambling addiction, it takes divine intervention to eliminate it. That's why we're advised to flee from falling victim cause the repercussion effect is better imagined than experienced.
But not many people find themselves already experiencing a gambling addiction. And indeed, addiction is like a hunger that asks us to satisfy that feeling, and only by gambling we will feel that satisfaction. And so that we don't experience the same thing, we must continue to practice good self-control because that's the only thing that can prevent us from experiencing gambling addiction. And before it's too late, we can check ourselves while playing gambling, and if we find signs of addiction, we can reduce it slowly so we don't get addicted.

This isn't a bad advice, although, from my experience, telling people to seek help and control themselves when they're addicted is throwing words to the wind. Have you ever known any drug addicts, or alcoholics? Go to them and tell them that they should spend less on their addiction and control their habits. It's scary how fast a fun activity can become an addiction. Winning can be addictive, like a sweet taste. As with any addiction, the results are severe and ugly. You mentioned self-control, which is vital. Set limitations and follow them. If you're losing control, a leisurely departure is appropriate. Remember that asking for help is powerful, not weak. Ask for help when things get tough - there are various support networks.

2. Don't think that you will gamble to make money, because if you do that, you will surely have a problem later.
With this, despite you remind people many times to gamble only for fun. This is hard to get removed. Everyone wants to gamble with the reward and get as much wins as we can. That's why having the mindset that you're only gambling for fun is just a thought for the many yet, many don't follow that. Your emotion and mind will be changed when you're in the actual already. And when you win a few times, you'll get that positive thinking that the house is beatable and you're in luck.

I think I've been feeling addicted lately, and yes why should I be afraid to get addicted when you have money to gamble with, sometimes in bad situations you just need to distract yourself from this cruel world and play with me.
But your suggestion OP is a suggestion that needs to be taken by people who want to quit or are afraid of being a gambling addict, it's quite good, and I don't reject it, I will probably do it next time if I want to quit, thanks for the formula. But remember, if you want to gamble but are afraid of killing your finances, then plan your bets well, and you should never keep money in your wallet if you think you can spend it if you lose your mind.

So while everyone can celebrate winning at gambling with a smile, losing at gambling cannot be accepted very easily. And he who can control himself even in loss cannot be addicted to gambling in its deep addiction. and he can quit gambling at any time when he/she want. Because he has complete confidence in himself and can control himself in all situations. this can be said to be one of his great qualities

I think your relations matter more than your will power to let go of an addiction. If someone that you truly love in your life makes you emotional in a way that his/her words touch the inner core of your heart which really makes you feel that you're not doing a good thing, and because of that your loved one is getting hurt. Only that emotion can stop some addict to give up on the addiction otherwise, addicted people will never let go of their addictions.
Emotional support does help for sure, but it can't cure your gambling addiction unless you are willing to fight it first which is why willpower is the most important factor in this case if you ask me. As they say, your greatest rival in life is you yourself which is why you should constantly fight yourself in order to improve.

Gambling becomes addictive for those who have plenty of money. A middle-class man only gambles in order to earn some extra income. If he becomes addicted and keeps on losing, then definitely a point will come when he won’t have enough funds to gamble further, and automatically his addiction will also get over. Yes, the points mentioned in the OP are good, but some gamblers will deny following them. Gambling addiction is seen only in rich people. For them, gambling is like winning. For them, the money doesn’t matter. I would suggest everyone gamble only within their limits.
Being an addict in gambling does not only affects a particular class, it can happen to anyone whether the rich, middle class or even poor people, the urge to bet more can occurs when the middle class keep losing and in a quest to recover there lose they end up finding it hard to quit when they've not been able to achieve their aim and I've seen cases where people run out of cash and borrow money to stake on games and recover what they lost so if gamblimg addiction only happen to rich people like you've said most poor or middle class people won't take loans to gamble when they run out of cash, some even go to the extent of wagering their valuable items or properties which is not considered a good idea and very risky. However having access to more money could fast track the addiction of gambling, but doesn't mean it can only happen to the rich because of that cause there are other issues like depression, over confidence of winning, and sometimes even family background, because a child born in a society or family where they take gambling as a hobby might end up becoming an addicted gambler when he/she grow up.

It is that conception of using it as a way of distraction that leads to addictive tendency while you feed your thinking that it is a way of distraction it is growing rather as a harmful habit on the other way round. There are multiple healthy activities to engage into for distraction and whiling away of time than using gambling.

What I would suggest, and this is coming from a former gambling addict, is to actually stop when you're already contemplating whether you should carry on with your gambling routine or stop it completely. 9 times out of 10 it would always be because you're either exhausted with the gambling setup you're in and you need to take a breather, or you're already discovering certain signs of gambling addiction and these glimpses are giving you some sort of cognitive dissonance, either way the best thing to do is to not actually contemplate a plan which would only lead you to gamble further, but to take a second to think about it, stop gambling for a while, and only come back when you're positive you've already gone past that hurdle.
It's better to quit than to think and be trapped, Gambling isn't something you should just dilly-dally around cause it chips away at your mental with every loss no matter how much you tell me you're only gambling for fun, actually meditating upon your current situation will help even more than thinking about how to go about your next gambling session.

There's no exemption when it comes to those people who would really be affected with gambling addiction on which it is true that even if you are rich or poor, there's always a tendency that you would really be able to get addicted if you arent really that good on handling yourself when it comes to gambling then you should really be avoiding it on the first place but on the time that you do find yourself get addicted then it would really be a huge problem but quitting wont really be that much of a problem if you are really that kind of person who do have that good self control and discipline towards self. Gambling isnt bad as long you do know your limits and as long you do know that it is really just that for fun and you are spending on the amount which you can afford to lose. It is really just that important that you should really be not going into your limits or border line when it comes to spending because this is where people usually fail on doing so.

This isn't a bad advice, although, from my experience, telling people to seek help and control themselves when they're addicted is throwing words to the wind. I think this depends on the person addicted. If the person has no intention of fixing himself then I agree that all our suggestions will just get ignored. But if the person is willing to change but does not know how to make his first step then it is more likely that this person will listen if we give him and advice on how to recover from gambling addiction. Have you ever known any drug addicts, or alcoholics? Go to them and tell them that they should spend less on their addiction and control their habits. See where this leads you As I stated, it depends on what is the aim of that person. If the person has not realized that he needs medication then he will really ignore our suggestion and there might be a possible argument because these addicted person will try to reason out that they are fine. We all know how we should quit and addicts know it too, but they are unable to due to the weakness of character.
It is the denial that prevents them to quit and get cured.

Thanks to the experts who gave those tips, but according to my experience, your ability to stop gambling depends on whether you are a new gambler and are playing fir fun or you are an addict who can't control himself. If you are an addict then nothing of the advices you have provided would help except seeking professional help. Addicts can't even recognize that they are have addiction problems. They need someone to support them and tell them what they need to do.

From experts view those are the required elements to stay away from gambling. With the realtime things might vary. My experience on gambling have taught me, understand gambling, not to get greedy, never go behind the losses. If your mind have started to go behind losses, then you be sure that you're on the wrong track. Anytime the gambling could kill your funds. Prepare your mind to accept loss and take a break than chasing loss.

There's nothing wrong if you want to gamble. However you should know the risk and the consequences of using your money in gambling. The problem is, many of us are not prepared for the outcome and tend to regret that we gamble our money resulting to losses. Then it's the start of the thoughts of trying to chase what we lost, becoming uncontrolled and spending most of the time playing that led to addiction.
This can be prevented if from the start we're aware of what to expect and our main desire is to have fun and not to double our money. Because if you let yourself uncontrolled, it's already hard to overcome such situation. So you need to follow what the experts says to stop the addiction.

Let's be honest here. Very few people can control themselves while gambling due to the insane temptation to keep earning more or chasing their losses. It's very, very difficult to resist such temptations practically. The ones who can resist those temptations either earn a lot or just have fun based on my research.

Things we must do to stop gambling according to experts:1. Recognize the problem 2. Remove the stigma 3. Confide in a love one 4. Seek professional health 5. Adjust as needed
Source: https://www.forbes.com/health/mind/how-to-stop-gambling-expert-advice/Now, if you still want to gamble but you don't want to become addicted to it, one of the things you should do in my opinion is:
1. Only set aside an amount of money that you will use to gamble in a casino. 2. Don't think that you will gamble to make money, because if you do that, you will surely have a problem later. 3. Just spend a few hours staying in a casino to gamble so you can avoid what you don't realize is wasting time that you should be spending on important things instead of gambling. Absolutely mate this is must to do if we don't want to be addicted in gambling and the main thing here is Gambling is for fun which is we can keep playing in casino as long as we have enough money to to play and also like what you said above it's better to have the mindset that we must play for fun and not for profit because once we aim more profit then the more we get loss because in gambling the results is unpredictable.

Although the advice mentioned by op is correct, maybe when he just said the word "Quit" he should have put "Prevent or Avoid". But all in all, I don't see anything wrong with the opinions he said, in fact, there is truth in what he said.

Most of gambling addict didn't know if they have a problem over their gambling habit, rather than self diagnose, it's better for the gambler to seek a professional when someone e.g. wife or parent often ask to stop gambling. At this point you are right, because it is still different to actually ask the person who is addicted to gambling. Although the advice mentioned by op is correct, maybe when he just said the word "Quit" he should have put "Prevent or Avoid".
Yeah, there's no need to quit from gambling if a gambler know how to control themselves and not for making money. Advising someone to quit gambling isn't good, @OP isn't even my parent or someone that can control my life.

This isn't a bad advice, although, from my experience, telling people to seek help and control themselves when they're addicted is throwing words to the wind. Have you ever known any drug addicts, or alcoholics? Go to them and tell them that they should spend less on their addiction and control their habits. See where this leads you We all know how we should quit and addicts know it too, but they are unable to due to the weakness of character. But its not bad trying to throw the advice outside maybe some of the addicts can still grow a mind from the constant advice given that can help them withstand this habit of theirs and moreover I have seen someone who have discipline himself to actually reduce his gambling act because of the huge losses and problems he had to encounter.
