Investing into those big three would always make people feel a lot better without a doubt. Not a lot of people feel the same way about those, but I feel like they are as good as it gets when we are talking about long term investment. Of course that doesn't mean that they are going to never cause you any trouble, as we have seen from the bear run we have seen them not do that badly but that doesn't mean that we are going to end up with them not having anything good neither.

I can't advice you to stay away from altcoins because if you are from struggling home I believe you should not keep altcoins out of your crypto portfolio, there are few altcoins that will change your lives better than investing in Bitcoin, they have the higher rate of ROI and faster rate of sinking your money too, but the higher the risk the higher the return, it's better to expose yourself to some altcoin but invest less in them and invest more in Bitcoin.

I beg to differ, the yearly volatility of bitcoin remains under 15% if you look at the last few years charts which concludes that the long term volatility is low which applies to hodlers, but the daily volatility may be higher and that only remains a concern for the day traders. Considering the OP, I guess they are long term holders in which case volatility cancels out itself and remains under a controlled ceiling value.

Bitcoin is definitely a popular name if we differentiate between Alt coin and Bitcoin we will definitely choose Bitcoin to invest. While trading bitcoins you must trade with caution or you may end up with losses, don't just think about profit.
