Since we have questions from Women Football in our BSFL league, I would open a topic about World Cup for discussion, if there is interest

Basically, competition system is same as in Men football, eight groups, each with four teams, playing one game with each-other, so three rounds in group stage, top two teams are going into next phase

main competition favorites are USA and England, USA won two last competitions in a row, and Lionesses are European champions

Tournament will be played in Australia and New Zealand, four groups in each country, first opening match is on Thursday between between New Zealand and Norway, that will be played in Auckland/New Zealand, finals will be played in Sydney/Australia on 20 August

For many persons, the USA women seems to be the favourite in winning this year women's world cup over again. But I doubt if the USA women team will be able to defend and retain the title . I look forward to see astonishing results as they unfold in this year 2023 FIFA WWC. My favourite are the Nigerian women's team, even though I don't see them winning the cup am convince they will surpass the roundup sixteen stage. Cheers.

Group H looks like the group of death from out here but I trust the Germany 🇩🇪  team is equal to the task to come out top.

Group E looks like another one of those groups that can produce surprise results as we all know these competitions tend to produce world class results, but of course United States 🇺🇸  and the Netherlands 🇳🇱  will certainly progress but am hoping to see Portugal 🇵🇹  make a point why and how they made this far by fighting for their place...

Group C has the world number 1s Spain who are expected to advance easily but alot has been said about Zambia the underdogs who stuned Germany to a 3-2 beating 2 weeks ago but thats a friendly which means nothing but this could be the dark horse of the group and hope the bookies arent writing them off this early as an upset is on the cards and Japan & Costa Rica better bring  their A game...here we go!
