First of all, I'm glad I avoided betting on Bayern By the way, I think that yesterday many bets were burned not only because Bayern again unpleasantly surprised everyone, but also because the “reliable” BTTS bet did not work out.
As for Bayer having something to fight for, yes, that’s true, but it seems to me that their priority will be winning tournaments (European League, German Cup) and not statistics in the Bundesliga, where at some point they can start as a rotation team.

My post wasn't meant to say that they would prioritize this record by any means, but going down in history against a club named Bayern Munich that has been reigning the Bundesliga for decades is quite a worthwhile goal in my opinion. This doesn't mean they would not rotate to achieve that goal. It does mean that the players will not scale down their efforts at any point in time during the season in Bundesliga games when they are getting closer to breaking that amazing record set by Heynckes' Bayern Munich over a decade ago.

By the way, the crazy thing about Leverkusen is that you don't even realize when they rotate because they have such a balanced team on and off the pitch. Alonso has done a great job to develop all players equally and to keep them being on fire. Remember when the Africa Cup took place and five players left the team, four of which were core players and played like 95% of the games? You couldn't even notice that the team suffered from any absences.

But surely titles are the main priority although records and titles quite often go hand in hand.

This is probably the funniest round of the entire season! 13 participants scored 2 points, which makes the median number of points equal to 3 - in fact, if you specifically try to score that many points, it will be simply unrealistic on the first try.
I’m also seriously surprised that despite how lame Bayern is this season, no one bet against them. Only Ulven suggested that there might be a draw. If the situation is the same with money bets, then the bookmakers are simply swimming in money (and the tears of betters) after this round.

This is actually a good way to twist the challenge in our competition. Try to score 2 points or less! Coming from that angle, you are definitely right that it is probably harder than one would think.

When I saw Heidenheim taking the 3-2 lead against Stuttgart away from home after being down 2-0, I had to smile thinking about all the picks everyone made. Without a doubt the funniest round by far.

I believe Bayern will be in the driving seat in both games against Arsenal and the reason is that Arsenal seems to not be able to handle the games against top teams very well. It was shocking to see how they played against Manchester City. I thought it was supposed to be a top game with chances on both sides, but 27% ball possession for a team like Arsenal? That's not enough. I understand that playing against Manchester City away from home is no fun for any team. But that came across as a refusal to put in the work in that game. Passing accuracy was just around 70%. I think that Bayern will have control over the games, but it doesn't mean they will win. Could be more of the typical problems Bayern is fighting with. Lots of ball control and chances, but then fail to score and fall apart regardless.

It's the same for me by the way. In European competitions I am all for Bayern, but in the Bundesliga I am happy to see teams stand up to Bayern.

I'm blessed with a neutral outlook, and it's hard to feel sympathy for a club that's had 11 consecutive titles (or maybe even more, I can't be bothered to check) and always hard to support a team so dominant; the league is irrelevant. I can even objectively say if there comes a time Liverpool dominates their league, I can understand it will be unpopular. This is, perhaps, the way it should be.

Bayern the underdogs vs Arsenal, Kane or not, that has to be some kind of error in bookmaker estimation, don't you agree? There is such a thing as pedigree in a knockout competition, but perhaps one simply cannot ignore form.

You may have a point in saying that Manchester City was restricted to one attempt. That's indeed a good achievement, yet I think it is not enough of an objective for a game that ends with 27% ball possession for a team aspiring to become the next Premier League winner. That is far too chicken-hearted.

I guess you call. Bayern one of the most mature sides because of their past, but right now I can't see any of their maturity. The loss against Heidenheim was rather the peak of their immaturity. But who knows what will happen over the coming days as Eberl said a few things about an entire overhaul of the team in the near future.

After yesterday's games, I was finally convinced that Arsenal are rightfully considered the favorites. And maybe now they should be bigger favorites than the bookmakers quote them, but it’s that same pedigree that distorts the picture.
But if you look at the facts, last year Bayern could not show any competition in the games with City, and a year earlier they were knocked out by Villarreal. If you look at the trends, Arsenal is clearly progressing, while Bayern is regressing.
I don’t know if I’ll bet on Arsenal, but I definitely won’t bet on Bayern.

Bayer now have 76 points, which means that if Bayer wins the game against Werder in the next round, they will officially become champions. Bayern can do them a dirty trick and lose 2 points in the game with Cologne, and since this game will be a day earlier, Bayer’s game will no longer matter and the celebration will take place prematurely.

Hmmm... I don't know. Maybe it’s just that not everyone writes books, but the fact that the old school is mostly alcoholics is quite widely known and, in principle, no one hid it. In fact, in the old days this was the norm.
As for Kane, he has a great reason to end the season "in the right mind": the European Championship, where England are among the main favourites. I think that he will be 100% in focus while this tournament is going on. Another question is how it will end and what will happen if Kane finds himself a complete loser everywhere this season. I hope he can withstand this load.

It is a much deserved title for Bayer in all fairness, and they are doing it in a very remarkable fashion at that, a kind of dominance that would have been expected of no other team but Bayern Munich. Leverkusen are still unbeaten in the league despite being behind on several occasions, they've always managed to turn it around, they have the best goal difference and the least goal conceded, what else could have been required of them to go down in the history of books of the Bundesliga ? There's nothing else I can possibly think of.
