What happened: Fake Ripple #Xrp airdrop website..
Website :
Code:
https://ripple.international/airdrop/
Twitter : https://twitter.com/FinnKnoxETH

Since XRP trending back in the crypto market, XRP fake giveaway scammers are back in business. And now because of Twitter's paid blue badge, it is becoming difficult to identify who is a scammer and who is a real user. Currently, most of the Twitter accounts that are promoting various fake/phishing websites are blue badge accounts, due to which newbies are now getting more confused and victims of scams. A lot of fake websites will come up now using Xrp name, so everyone should be careful not to fall into the trap of scammers.

I agree, that because of the news that they've won the case against SEC. There will be a lot of scammers that will ride the news. Thanks for finding this out OP.

Not only in Twitter. In Facebook, there's a new trend now about being "meta verified" and it's cheap as the Twitter badge by just getting paid and will just have to go through with some verification process but I think that's easy and quick. I have seen a lot of unpopular people getting that blue check badge scattered in many pages.

Nice catch OP. I don't think anyone who has basic crypto knowledge is going to trust this phishing site as XRP isn't going to launch any Airdrop when it's 2023 as it had been launched in 2012. But some new users have chances to participate in these fake airdrops and connect their account to be scammed because some of them rush to participate when they saw a newly launched airdrop without any research of legitimate. So mass awareness is needed. Basically we have to identify which is official campaign and which is just a trap.

And now because of Twitter's paid blue badge, it is becoming difficult to identify who is a scammer and who is a real user. Currently, most of the Twitter accounts that are promoting various fake/phishing websites are blue badge accounts, due to which newbies are now getting more confused and victims of scams.
We have seen many verified official twitter accounts have been hacked or compromised so it's not a good idea also to believe every announcements from official accounts. We must do own research before joining any campaign. If it seems suspicious then we must avoid in terms of security of our assets or wallets.

Anyway I will suggest @Gladitorcomeback to add this Phising site in his list which is POST ALL PHISING SITES HERE (2023). It will make users more aware from these types of every Phising sites.

This has become a very bad trend. Since blue badges are available for purchase with money, it is conceivable that this opportunity is being opened up to unqualified, bad intentioned people who may be dangerous to ordinary users. Now most of the scammers are taking this paid service and showing themselves as trusted and promoting such scams. Newbies should be warned that now scammers have gone a step further to scam on a larger scale.

Thanks for your suggestion. Since you mentioned @Gladitorcomeback here, I think he will list my report if he thinks it's worthy of listing. I'll post the link in his thread, if I think he hasn't noticed my report.

That's true, it is what I have thought when I have remembered that these scammers are also updated with these trends. Since it's easier for them to purchase those badges to make it look like they're legitimate, they'll spend for it for sure just to fool people that are not yet still aware of their tactics. These platforms made it even easier for them, that's such a bad thing to think of but hopefully, they'll be more strict with compliance from these potential scammer's accounts.

That's the time and opportunity for them to scam newbies, they know that when a coin or token is trending there are many interested in acquiring this coin/token, and this time its XRP,
It's a repetitive cycle and expect that if there's another good news for some other coins and project, you'll see that these scammers will be around again trying to get their prey.

these scammers have money to purchase accounts, domains, and hire developers and shill marketers expect this to happen everytime there's hype and trend, it happens on Dogecoin, Axie, Pepe and now XRP and these scammers will not stop because there are always willing victims who are ignorant and not aware of this scheme.
You said it right and that's why they've got the resources and it's easier for them to just reproduce what has been busted to them. But if you're aware of their tactics and scammy activities, you'll never be a victim of them anymore whether you like the project or not.

I don't think it's just Fake Ripple, but hackers and spreading malicious software. From the screenshot, there is an option to link the wallet, and thus, once your wallet is linked, the hacker can empty all the tokens in it.
These scammers are fast, no more than two weeks have passed since the news of the rise in the XRP value, and all these scam sites appeared, and therefore prevention is better than cure and avoiding these sites is better due to the slowness in the deletion process.

This scammer may be sending you free tokens but they are worthless and can only be sold on a site owned by him, and then he may ask you to send money or verify identity.

And yes, since Ripple Labs have won their case against SEC, this criminals wanted to take advantage of the situation and try to trap newbies with this fake airdrop and everything that is related to Ripple or XRP.

So thanks to the OP for dropping this warning. And then for us, we should also report this website. And then maybe also warns other outside of the community about the dangers of this kind of fake airdrop involving XRP.

Scammers are using the same Twitter account to promote another XRP fake airdrop website today. Scammers are trying to capitalize on this XRP trend, which can directly affect newbies. Twitter has now become the most effective medium for scammers to promote such scams, as paid Blue badge accounts are now more desperate than ever to scam crypto users.

Just by seeing the TLD of the website's url, any reasonable person should realize that this is a fake website and can not be a professional url.
People should also stop being greedy. No one is going to give money for free (not anymore).
Scammers use different technics but none of them would work if the victim doesn't get blinded by greed.

These drainers are the trending scam nowadays and they are very dangerous in many ways, first if you have any assets tokens or NFTS on your wallet then connected it with that drainer website you will lose everything and forever. Secondly if you connect it also with that drainer but your wallet is empty you won’t know it’s infected which means once you receive anything through your wallet it will disappear instantly.
These kind of scam drainers are made with web3 application and smart contract, i don’t understand why wallet such Trustwallet and Metamask didn’t find a solution to that yet. A popping message that warns you for example when you enter such malicious websites.

There are too many scam websites which look like this one. Do you think metamask, trustwallet or whatever other wallet's team have enough resources to spot them all! It's impossible.
Besides, we all know that when you decide to use cryptos then you made the choice to be your own bank and that no one should control your money (Including protecting it).
Unfortunately, cryptocurrencies' world is still the wilde west.

Well, I didn't mean it in the sense that Metamask or any wallet should individually spot and block every website one by one. Clearly that's an impossible thing considering new drainers with different domain names are created daily in large numbers. What I meant is that wallet services like Metamask or any wallet that allows web3 interactions (which usually called connectwallet), should establish an automatic security system capable of identifying unaudited and insecure smart contracts. These contracts are mostly exploited by scam web3 apps to steal all assets, token and nfts in the same way as a drainer.
Here is a very simple example of how these drainer looks just before giving them permission to interact with your wallet,

It is like being closed and you do not know where the blows come from. If they do that, the whole system will be centralized, and then there must be a central authority that allows and prevents smart contracts, which is very harmful to technology.

The easiest solution, if you are greedy, is to create a new wallet in a computer that you do not use for cryptocurrencies or that does not contain any important data. In the end, if the wallet is empty, they will not be able to steal anything, and all your loss will be gas fees.

Too bad that these type of scams is like a hydra, cut off it's head and two heads will grow back, I'm tired that it's just catching these scammers, I hope that we can reach out to more people about these type of scams to inform them but then again, a lot of people don't like to be informed especially if the information drive isn't interesting.

Pro tip to every newbies out there: If something big and positive is being announced about a certain cryptocurrency, always expect that scammers will join the fun and ride the wave to try and scam unaware and uninformed people, they always will. If something is too good to be true, it ain't.

I am glad you posted about this scam because after the SEC court case it is obvious XRP trade volumes will definitely increase with time. It seems like these scammers are not going to vanish taking their scams with them, therefore as a community we have to be vigilant and we must try to bring these scams to the attention of as many people as possible.

What happened: Fake Ripple #Xrp airdrop website..

Actually the main org or account has yellowish badge in twitter now, not blue, only subscriptions are those in blue badge. Or you can just check/click the badge if what's their status of having it.
And yes, outdated/no knowledge newbies are prone to this shitty giveaways just like as this

https://twitter.com/xrprlpple/status/1683210149404483586

So, if you encounter such twitter account or tweets, directly just report the account.

Anyway I will suggest @Gladitorcomeback to add this Phising site in his list which is POST ALL PHISING SITES HERE (2023). It will make users more aware from these types of every Phising sites.
Thanks for your suggestion. Since you mentioned @Gladitorcomeback here, I think he will list my report if he thinks it's worthy of listing. I'll post the link in his thread, if I think he hasn't noticed my report.

First of all i appreciate OP work and you catch this busters very earlier. Twitter is their main source for promoting these scam sites. These scammers creating so many scam sites , trying to fool airdrop hunters. I already added both sites in scam list and Thanks BD crypto for mentioning which make it easy for me to check this thread.

we should report both sites and also others if this twitter account share new one. I know scammers can make new sites just by paying some $ but we should do our work. If scammers are not giving up bad deed(creating sites to steal fund) , why we stop oir good dead(report to keep safe others fund).

where to report this sites so that it will be taken down. (https://safebrowsing.google.com/safebrowsing/report_phish/?hl=en)

A lot of fake websites will come up now using Xrp name, so everyone should be careful not to fall into the trap of scammers.
Any trending news in the market, of course, is exploited by scammers who publish these fake giveaways in their accounts verified by the blue badge and publish these phishing sites in popular hashtags on Twitter. I see that the blue checkmark feature has increased the rate of fraud on Twitter, as they delude users that they are legitimate by using this badge. Therefore, beginners believe them at first sight, after seeing the blue checkmark and the number of their fake followers, and through the large numbers of retweets and likes of the fake giveaway tweet; in addition, no one can reply to the scam tweet because only people who the author of the tweet has mentioned are allowed to reply, so they prevent negative responses in this way as well.

Thank you OP, for sharing this warning. I hope newbies do their research first and don't believe anything on Twitter; even official accounts can be hacked, so they must be careful and make connecting their wallets the unlikely option.
