So you want to be a crypto millionaire?
Fernando Pérez Algaba, apparently a crypto "influancer" (never heard of him), who was missing since mid-June, was found chopped up in a suitcase in Argentina.
Just a daily reminder that flashing your wealth on social media is not necessarily a good idea.

Has anyone heard of him? Was he a decent guy, or just another wannabe celebrity?

Has anyone heard of him? Was he a decent guy, or just another wannabe celebrity?

seems he had 900k followers so had some notable fanbase. but it was more of the fiat lifestyle of cars and vacations.. not crypto influencing

he was as quoted by his family as being a simple car salesman that didnt do well on bitcoin

in essence to grabbed money from everywhere he could, car deals he didnt pay suppliers back, gambling loans he didnt pay back and unpaid taxes. and then said all that money disappeared into bad crypto bets.

i wouldnt cast him as a crypto investor id cast his as a fiat loser that lost big in fiat land, where most of his financial hassles and hustles were fiat related, where crypto was the escape rope/excuse for loss

never good to see anyones life end, especially this way, but lets not pigeon hole this as a black mark against crypto, as most of his hustles were fiat related

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

Definitely not the best way to go, but from what I can see from the reports, he was involved in some shady business. Just guessing here, but it is possible he owed a hefty sum to the wrong people. So it is probably not the best thing to brag about your riches and luxurious life on social media when in such a situation.

The only good thing from all of this that I read is that he was shot at least three times before the body was dismembered.

Probably some of his enemies in the industry or some that he made enemies with in the background. It could also be possible that since he's a dime-a-dozen cryptocurrency influencer, they tried kidnapping him for ransom and then killed him when they found no use for him anymore. It was also said that he is involved in some shady dealings and questionable businesses with some people that might've turned to him owing a large debt to some people like what @Stalker22 has said.

It's not uncommon for these crypto-influencers who used their fame for profit to get what was coming to them, Pleterski just got sacked and kidnapped for $3 million by some of the people who he screwed over with his "crypto" scams and the funny thing is, despite him being the root cause of all this the kidnappers were the ones that got jailed and he's able to run free again without major consequences from his actions, well besides a badly beaten face and a scarring event that should leave him humbled for the rest of his life.

I believe this is his Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/fernandoperezalgaba

In a world where economic turmoil is effecting every country on a huge scale, this might unfortunately become more common. Thugs will only become more open, desperate and some, may have no choice but to find opportunities like this to set themselves and their family free. If we were in a fair world, each others wealth would be celebrated...but we are not.

You'd have have to be an idiot to flash your wealth when majority of social media users, or population for that matter, are living pay check to pay check at best, counting pennies and watching their loved ones do the same, or worse, like lining up at a food bank. People who otherwise would be living normally if the global economy wasn't the way it was.

Has anyone heard of him? Was he a decent guy, or just another wannabe celebrity?

Never heard of him, but the influencer type are usually cocky, narcissistic and not as charitable as they might portray themselves on camera. If he got himself chopped up, he was either stupid, unconscious of his environment, or connected with bad people. I believe that being chopped up and left in a suitcase is a pretty grim way to go, to have that done to you, it's likely you were either a good person that was unfortunately connected to dangerous people or not such a good person and put yourself in harms way by being connected to dangerous people.

RIP anyway. No matter the discussion or the circumstance, no one deserves to not only die that way or be left in that state.

For sure he has a lot of enemies because he has fore warn about this impending death as per the news. And the police found a lot of threatening text message in his phone from people that want to hurt him.

Maybe he scam people out of their money in crypto or in fiat, I guess this is another lessons for those crypto influencers. You just don't know the extend of what you are doing. If you are blatantly scamming, then sooner or later karma will come in your way.

Never Heard of Him but for what I can see about His posting style and His physical look , maybe this person is truly outspoken about how he lives and about what is he doing in life.

actually it is OK to be Influencer of Bitcoin and any crypto , but lets not announce our wealth , or at least never tell about how much it all because this can happen to anyone .

and besides crypto is something that needs to be taken by force and if you lure bad elements about that? then this will happen to anyone of us.

I really don't enjoy talking smack about tragedies -- however it was, whoever it is, just a tragedy that, by the way, has very little to do with crypto, and more to do with lifestyle and poor decisions. Not a bright day for media and whoever it is who'd use the "crypto millionaire" label when neither he nor his family seems not to have used the description, at least not regularly.

Be cool and let's not add to the sensationalism that doesn't help Bitcoin, maybe?

Maybe he has nothing to do with being a Crypto Millionaire and something else that you aren't aware of nor the media? He isn't the first millionaire I guess? There are thousands of them in each country and the source of income doesn't matter if it's real estate or Crypto, this sort of thing can only happen if there was a fight between two people or so. RIP, no one really knows what happened except the family who can access his phone.

Who don't want to become rich and crypto-made millionaire or crypto-made billionaire?

He wanted, I want and you want too.

It is another case, another reminder about very high risk of talking too much about what you are doing, your wealth and how you store your asset. Some people love the feeling to be admired by the crowd and they want to be an infuencer and it is their personal favorite as well as choice.

If they are aware of such risk which including their life and death, and still accept it, they are actually responsible for their activities and we only can wish them luck and the best.

The murder is terrible and nobody want to see it but it happened and it can play a role of very strong reminder, somewhat it has something good for community.

This story reminds me of that kid in Canada called CryptoKing which did something similar. He appeared rich during the bull market. Took peoples money and bought crypto after it topped and then lost most of his investors money.

Then he got kidnapped by one of the investors but made it out alive. Apparently he wasn’t a good trader or anything. But he was flashing his money around and convinced many people he knew how to invest and that’s how people got hooked.

I agree with the general line of the comments. This is not so much for being a crypto millionaire, nor so much perhaps for the lifestyle he showed in social media, because today there are many influencers of that style and they do not end up dismembered, but for getting into messes he should not have. Getting into debt with someone you shouldn't and failing to repay the debt is the most likely cause of that.

That’s awful and shocking. Why do some people feel the need to flaunt their wealth on social media? What are they trying to prove or achieve?

Well, this is something one can get as an ending - a horrible one at that and one that must be demanding justice as soon as possible - when you are known and maybe got some enemies while doing business. As pointed by someone here, this incident most likely got nothing to do with Bitcoin or crypto for that matter though the man can be holding some. Anyway, it is not a good idea to be flaunting your wealth especially in a country like Argentina but then again being showy is something many people enjoy so it is a choice or a risk one can be making. I don't have any wealth to show to the world so I feel safe that I will never end up in a suitcase anytime.

The only good thing from all of this that I read is that he was shot at least three times before the body was dismembered.

If that's the case like he owed bad people money then we all know how cruel they can be even if someone tries to hide from them but he was trying to show off his luxurious lifestyle on social media which might have intrigued them to catch him and kill in such a manner. We should never flaunt with other people's money although I feel bad for him and his family but we should not get influenced by what we see on social medias.

Satoshi had thought about the incident that happened to Fernando Pérez Algaba long ago, he knew that the risk he would face was enormous if he appeared in public introducing himself as the originator of Bitcoin or introducing himself as Satoshi Nakamoto. The strategy adopted by Satoshi hiding his real identity (anonymous) has indirectly saved his life from the target of people who think Bitcoin is a threat to their business and people who want to take Bitcoin pieces from it.

This incident needs to be used as a lesson for anyone who has large amounts of assets stored in crypto. There is no need to advertise too much the amount of assets currently owned on social media, you never know that the many people who follow you on social media have malicious intentions towards you. Vigilance needs to be increased for your safety and also for the assets you have, be wise in using social media, there is no need to show off your wealth in public places because it will threaten your safety.

Learn from Satoshi, even though he has more Bitcoins than anyone else in the whole world, people scattered all over the world never know who the real Satoshi Nakamoto is.

There are few crypto millionaires in the world today and everyone knows what they are into but we don't hear that they end up in a pool of blood, this is the second time I am hearing something like this and we shouldn't just into conclusion because of what the media is feeding us.

The first story was about a Mexican fella who dumped many into Ponzi scheme crypto investment and ran away but he didn't know that few of his victims are drug lords or Cartel members and they dismembered him.

There is a big chance that the same happened with this crypto influencer, maybe he owe or scam some people into making them invest in something that later crash?

One thing I noticed about Crypto influencers is using people to pump their bags, a coin with thousands market cap can easily turn into 2 million because of a crypto influencer talking about the coin.

I am not saying this is it, it could be few other things but it's not about living a good life and showing off, the news said it's done by a professional, he must have hurt someone, a killer was sent to get the job done.

But unfortunately, who cares about the death of an ordinary "fiat loser", as you put it? This is a common phenomenon that is difficult for the yellow press to sell, therefore, the media will inflate this incident as a connection with crypto currencies, which, thanks to the media, are synonymous with the dark web, prohibited goods and other criminal activities (which, of course, is completely wrong). Most people will consider this as another black mark against crypto currencies, because they will not go into details and look for information about this person (analyze lifestyle and ways of earning money) as you did (for which, special thanks to you).

"Missing millionaire crypto influencer found dismembered in suitcase" - these will be the headlines of the articles, although it is quite possible that he suffered this fate simply for the most ordinary debts (in fiat) and in fact, he had little to do with crypto currencies.

This is the first I’m hearing of him and sadly, it’s no good news.
I don’t know why news outlets on social media headlines describe him as being a millionaire crypto influencer. He did other things aside trading crypto. According to the article, he was also a car salesman and rented out luxury cars that probably brought in more income than trading in cryptocurrencies.

To be shot, then chopped up and stuffed into a suitcase is also a telltale that he has made some not so nice people very angry. Perhaps some deals gone wrong with some not so understanding people. Most likely nothing to do with cryptocurrencies.

It's true, something that is showing off usually will always end badly. Because if you become someone who often shows off, whether it's in the form of showing off your wealth or showing off in other ways. Usually there will always be a handful of people who will definitely not like this action. So as much as possible, we should always be able to stay away from this show off.

Moreover, like showing off wealth in the field of crypto investment such as bitcoin, for now it will indeed be more prone to being targeted by a handful of bad people. Because crypto/bitcoin assets are now trending and popular in the world of investment assets. Therefore, the bad guys, became interested in targeting people who own crypto/bitcoin assets.

And criminal acts that target crypto users, most of these bad people use the internet system (people who are called hackers). But after learning about this incident, it can be concluded that bad people who target crypto users can commit direct crimes without having to go through the hassle of hacking the target's computer.

So in conclusion, we as investors and users of crypto currency. Must be able to be more careful, and must always be able to stay away from showing off or being arrogant. Because we never know, what's in anyone's heart, even the closest people.
