Instead of putting a time frame to sell why not have a price target. Rather than planning to sell in Kate '24 or early '25 you can target when Bitcoin reaches $100k in value or more?

This is a suggestion cause the price does not always rise at the time we expect, as Bitcoin matures the cycle changes slightly to adjust to the newer investors and response from traders to market conditions.

Don't marry the bag, sell it when you know that you've multiplied your profit to a staggering percentage, you will always be able to get back to bitcoin even if you sell your bitcoin because the price will eventually correct itself so just keep a watch on what's happening on the market and the price of bitcoin so you know what to do next. If you're unfamiliar with the saying that I've said, I'm basically telling you to sell your bitcoin when the price is pumping and the sentiment of the market is that it's nearing the peak, aim for that peak when you sell.

Yes bitcoin is a great store of value and this has made it an asset that hedges against inflation, so it is a very good investment plan if you’re holding for that long.
Concerning it breaking you out of a financial crisis, if I guess well you mean it making you rich. I would say there are two ways to this, many people are of the belief that it is not a get rich quick scheme but surely with its volatility it is also a great return on investment. So getting you rich definitely depends on the amount you invested. It has the potential to grow your investment into 2x or more your invested amount. So base on your determined date of taking profit which I would also advise you should state it out on price tag, you could be able ti double your investment then.

My tip is just like what Upgrade00 pointed out, the security of your funds is definitely a priority I wound advise you take this amount off anything exchanges and purchase a hardware wallets. I would have simply said a cold wallet but your current investment amount huge that a hardware wallet shouldn’t be that expensive to you. Or you can just setup an airgapped of any prominent cold wallet like electrum.

Starting it young to engage with any investment is a good thing already. And with your case I'm glad that you know things already such as not putting all of your money into this technology simply because you want to earn profit. Indeed this blockchain is a profitable asset and a useful digital currency as we all know but problem arises from an investor's mindset. Some are having too high hopes and that is why they are going all out on their first investment, which worries them 'coz it is all or nothing scenario. On the same instance  they do tend to panic most of the time which affects their decisions on their investment. But Bitcoin won't be enough to break financial crisis and inflation related issues 'coz that is related to a country's economy and you're just you.

I don't know your nationality, but if you're holding one BTC like you said, which is over $29k, then that is a huge sum of money in many countries, especially in third world countries, so i don't think someone in financial crisis would be able to accumulate one BTC. You also said you are 18 years old, and it is surprising how you could accumulate one BTC at that age and also have over $3000 in the bank from 'flipping stuff for cash".

When selling it, be careful and use a peer-to-peer exchange. Centralized exchanges like Binance have gone full anti-bitcoin in the last years. Don't ever submit KYC in those places, and sell in small portions.

I'd say that you're doing a good job and at that age, only a few can manage to take risks because all they want is to secure their future. While you, you're basically doing the same thing but understands more the risk that you're taking.

If you sell in 2025 just be sure to buy back on the crash in 2026.

Or you can just hold onto all the bitcoin you buy for the long term so that by the time you are in your 30s you will be wealthy, and not have to worry about selling and buying back.

You have made some good achievements and I am happy for you. Because you are still 18 and have 1 BTC in your holdings. And I am older than you and don't have even 0.1 BTC yet. But I am making some savings to make that possible. And I am very impressed with your motivation about getting money in your hands at the age of 18.

This gives me so much hope, all the kids out there should buy bitcoin and keep holding as long as possible. Do you realize how long an 18 year old could keep their coins? I mean we are talking about (on average) somewhere over 50 years, could be as long as 60 years and more. In a world where we have 4 year cycles, that is 15 cycle, so think about how big bitcoin could get. One person could just get one single purchase at 18, and no matter how much they get (unless its like 10 dollars) they could literally be wealthy by the time they die. Bitcoin is one of the ways to grow your wealth. All holders who have accumulated bitcoins so far have seen dividends. If proper time is invested then surely you will get success. You hold bitcoin but bitcoin halving is coming in 2024 so definitely better to wait for halving. Bitcoin investment is best done for long term as everyone has high probability of two to three times increase in Bitcoin price overnight in next year 2025. So I think you should definitely wait till 2025 if you want to achieve better.

In my view, even governments have no power to stop bitcoin because it is decentralised. means it is not managed or controlled by any single entity or government. This means they could not stop Bitcoin, but they could ban or restrict the usage of exchanges, whether they are centralised or decentralised, to buy BTC. Such as the US banning Binance from providing their product to US Citizens.

But the implementation of such big laws is not that easy, and the level of ease depends on the country. Because some countries are banning crypto and capturing those who are involved in it. But some countries are promoting it. So, in which country are you? Will help you gain more BTC, and you should not worry about Governments.

Bitcoin had saved a lot of people from inflation and made them financially independent. My only tip for you is to avoid getting into fud because that's what's currently going on in the market. People will say the market is going to boom in 2024 or 2025. But you have to make up your mind about the profits you are expecting. Even the government cannot stop bitcoin for good. They can always ban or restrict it, but they can never put an end to bitcoin seeing a lot of bitcoin investors and traders are doing it secretly, away from the eyes of the government. Also, do not think that bitcoin will be good enough to sell at a certain year. You might be discouraged thinking for that especially if the opposite has happened instead. My advice is, sell if there are possible profits. But only a portion of it, not your whole bitcoin.

I agree with one of the reply that instead of setting a timeframe, I think setting a target price is much better.  We all know that Bitcoin is highly volatile, if in chance the price of Bitcoin is below than your buying price, would you sell it at a loss?  

Also, I do not need think that there is a need to expose your funds, asking question and seeking advice without revealing how much you hold is way safer since there are lots of scammers and opportunist that does not care about other people in the internet.  By exposing how much you have might put you in some uncomfortable situation cause by these kind of people.

Like what others have stated here I say you put in a price target instead of a specific date as it gives you a much clearer goal to achieve than just saying that you'll sell it by the end of the year, makes it so that you're able to close out a positive sale too which is heavily necessary especially with how things are going so far. Plus you can't really rely that much on bitcoin to move you out of financial turmoil anymore since it's a volatile asset that could 100 to zero you in a matter of a day (although theoretically) which is something that certainly isn't going to be your biggest bet, so invest wisely, do your own research, and don't let FUD take over your thinking.

2024 or 2025? too early! but I seriously admire your passion to break free financially for someone who is at that young age. Me, when I was 18 all I do is play video games and went to school to end up to a good paying job eventually, which is not wrong though, but lacking to venture and study more about how to earn more than what the high paying jobs could give you.
Now, while you're still in college, my advices is that, keep stacking those bitcoins wait for the right time to sell it. Maybe a year after you graduated when you decide to run your own business. The profit you could have with bitcoin in the 5 years would be enough to fund what you might need to put up any kind of business model you want in the future.
I personally can consider selling in 2024 or 2025 If I have set a target, let's say $100k and then bitcoin hits it eventually. Well, that's like 300% of profit from your entry point, so not a bad decision.

The government can place some level of ban on Bitcoin that can hinder citizens from adopting Bitcoin freely but they can not permanently stop Bitcoin, despite the ban that have been placed on Bitcoin in some countries, some citizens in that country are still secretly accumulating Bitcoin.

Bitcoin can save your fiat from crazy inflation but to solve your financialy crises, am not sure it can totally do that for you but it can support your financial lifestyle. If you want to end your financial crises, you will need some other means of income like other investments and a job but if you only depend on Bitcoin, you will not easily end the crises that you are talking about.

For instance , you can set price target from which you take profit  by selling portions of your Bitcoin holding.. totally exiting the market at once and then waiting for another deep is not too healthy as it may affect your profit if the  price continue going up.

Glad to see someone so young interested and even wanting to invest in Bitcoin, glad to know you and welcome.
At this age, and already thinking about many things, that's an extraordinary thing. Getting a part time job while still in school, and continuing to want to increase income on the sidelines of school holidays is also an extraordinary activity for your age. Because maybe a lot of kids are just having fun at this age. Especially by seeing how you get money and dividing your money to invest in Bitcoin and also saving cash for your needs, this is actually a pretty good step.

It's just how in the future you will do various money management again. I'm sure you probably already know a bit about how crypto works, because you choosing Bitcoin is a very good and smart decision. Sometimes beginners prefer hype coins at the beginning of their investment career which results in big losses. But here, investing in Bitcoin is the best thing.

None can predict the market exactly true 100%.
But, if I were you, I think I will wait until the bullish era and Bitcoin passes its previous ATH. Commonly, the price will be rising up significantly in the bullrun and you can wait it for several periods after halving. And based on predictions, there is a big possibility in 2025.
But again, this will depend on how you manage your finances, you don't need to push yourself, the important thing is that you have earned profits and you yourself know your financial condition.

Oh, one more thing, if you want to invest and wait until 2025, it looks like you have to be vigilant in 2025. Make sure you see how the market is developing, take profits when you feel you've had enough. Because after all, sometimes we become too greedy and end up regretting that we have lost the moment or are too late to take profits.

It's always good to see young people putting their time, and researching with regards to Bitcoin, or into different types of investments.
People of your age here in our place don't even know what investment is. What they only know is buying their wants, expenses, liabilities, and wait... watching Tiktok videos that only entertains them, and not learning something thru it.

Unfortunately, not all young people are even interested in investing. Anyway, the government can ban the use of crypto in their own country, but there's a thing called VPN, so I guess you can still access it privately. You said you want to sell it at the end of 2024. You're a believer of the 4-year cycle, eh? Anyway, that's also my target, or at least when Bitcoin reaches my target selling prices, but I might sell most of my Bitcoins when it reaches $100,000.

Tips? I guess many here already gave some tips to you, but if I'll give one, I guess it will be to keep yourself lowkey because you don't know what might happen to you outside your house especially if you are saying to all people around you that you are holding that amount of Bitcoin. I highly agree, the thing that happens in this failed tries is Bitcoin being more resistant to news about government being anti-Bitcoin.  In the earlier years, Bitcoin tends to react wildy when some news was issued about the government taking negative stance about Bitcoin, and most of these news came from China but now  whenever there is news about China being negative on Bitcoin, the Bitcoin market almost don't mind and have no reaction on it.

And also, like upgrade said, better to have a price target to sell, than set a time period, think of it this way, what if by the end of 2024, the price of bitcoin is till at this same level, or just slightly higher, wil you still go ahead and sell? @op.

I also go with this idea.  It is better to have something fixed to target than something variable.  At least we will know the actual target price to sell after all we are looking for profit on this trade so it is better to set a target profit in our investments.

If governments were able to have control, then long back itself any of the government or few country governments have united to have control over it. This isn't possible and same serves as the hindrance for the governments. For that purpose only, the governments have feared bitcoin and opposed the usage and tried to restrict people from using it.

Holding 1BTC is really good and the plan should be to sell and make a buyback once the price falls down. One should be careful with the trading practice too, because the same have the ability to increase the volume of holding.

Sell at the end of 2025 that is probably where the Bullrun is since Bitcoin halving is around 2024 the expected pump will be around 2024-2025 for sure.  I did start on cryptocurrency as well when I was a student, when I was in college as well and it was really great to know this kind of stuff because I was able to earn this amount of money, I mean as a student this kind of money was only earn but someone who has a job so I was really happy about that. But I guess the advice I could give you is to actually invest in a passive income when I earn a good amount of money when I was a student, I didn't really have the right mindset, my mindset was it's okay for me to spend my money on things just because I'm still a student and eventually I'm going to land a job and that is when I'm going to start saving.

Don't sell your coins in 2024, the price rocket will not hit so early then. Wait until 2025, when there are reports of extreme buying that pumps the price up perhaps to $100K or maybe even higher, and that would be the perfect moment for you to sell if you really want to do that.

Just make sure you have an exchange ready and did your KYC because I can't see many exchanges letting you cash out that much without it. (And stay away from Binance.US)

At the age you are at, I would say that the most important thing is to focus on training in skills that will allow you to earn high incomes. To this, I hope you are training without debt. How are you paying for college? Are your parents paying for it?

What if bitcoin fails to play its role during the crisis and fails to meet the expectations of investors like you who are trying to find a safe haven? Therefore, it is commendable that as a schoolboy you became interested in bitcoin and invest in it in an attempt to avoid the effect of inflation on your savings, but my advice would be the following. Diversify your investments. Keep some cash on hand for current and unexpected expenses so you don't have to sell at a loss bitcoin. Since you are talking about a crisis and you are afraid of it. You've made a very wise decision to buy Bitcoin at such a young age. I'm glad you have been able to familiarize yourself with some of the market terms like halving, bear market and bull market. I would like make a correction that government cannot stop bitcoin, no one can. They far they can go is to stop or regulate centralized entities where Bitcoin is been traded which might have little or no effect on the market price.

My advice is that you learn about wallet security. Write your seed phrase on a piece of paper and keep it somewhere safe. Get a good hardware wallet like Trezor, Passport, Coldcard and store your funds but if you cannot afford it you can use a non custodial open source wallet like electrum, sparrow, or bluewallet.

Don't time the market and don't also expect a lot. That's much better to do than to be said but I'm also bullish although I don't want to set a lot or a huge expectation if it's about the price of Bitcoin after the halving. As for all of us including OPs plan of getting that profit during the bull run is a must and we shouldn't miss that this time. $200k is possible and could even be higher. I believe you'll be in better profit selling it in 2025 as against 2024. Bitcoin ATHs usually come a year after every halving, looking at past data. 2025 will be that year for a new ATH to be achieved. Nonetheless, OP will be making a better call if you set an exit point for yourself instead of looking for a duration to sell off. Who knows, price may get to your projection before the time and you're off the market. Choose price target over duration to cash out.

You can sell your bitcoin whenever you feel like, it can be in 2024 or 2025 depending upon the price action in the bull season, but you should never sell the whole 1 bitcoin. Keep 0.25 BTC in a separate wallet and do not sell in for the next 15-20 years. You can save it as your retirement funds and you will be one of the richest people in the world after 20-30 years if you have just 0.25 BTC with you.

I agree when you say that BTC will be a good hedge against inflation if we hold it for a long time, such as accumulating bitcoin now and we will avoid future inflation. But in the short term, don't jump to the conclusion that it will be better than fiat because of its volatility.

That's actually good to start early as long as it doesn't affect your studying at college. Starting early would give you an advantage as you could still more learn earlier and benefit more as you have more time to gain knowledge about Bitcoin, because some people discovered Bitcoin late and they already having difficulty from understanding it due to some people doesn't really understand how digital or online works.

I think you are already in an excellent position than most of the users here. If this is your savings and your patience to collect this much amount of money then you are already on the right path for sure. The government cannot "turn off" bitcoin. The only way they can do it if ever they want to try is to turn off the entire internet, which is not possible. Another way they may choose to do this is to try and gain control of all the miners and execute a 51% miner attack on the network. $100k is the base price of ATH that can be achieved, the lower limit of sales is $90k and the upper limit of sales is $120k.
Such a sales strategy is quite effective, selling part at the lower price and the other part at the upper price target.

If I had that kind of money at my disposal when I was 18 years old, I would have most likely spent in on other stuff.

Don't marry the bag, sell it when you know that you've multiplied your profit to a staggering percentage, you will always be able to get back to bitcoin even if you sell your bitcoin because the price will eventually correct itself so just keep a watch on what's happening on the market and the price of bitcoin so you know what to do next. If you're unfamiliar with the saying that I've said, I'm basically telling you to sell your bitcoin when the price is pumping and the sentiment of the market is that it's nearing the peak, aim for that peak when you sell.

This. Keep seeing people out here telling OP to hold on for dear life but are not really aware of a person's capacity to hold their bags. As for someone like him saving his ass during bear market seasons is just as important as actually holding his bag. For me it is possible to predict when the bullish market come but I think it is still very hard to predict the peak of it, so to maximize the profit maybe you can gradually sell it when you think the price is the peak of the bullish market. at that time usually there are many people spread FUD so you have to stick to your plan. don't looking for news in social media such as instagram, youtube, twitter and etc. only trust news in this forum because there are many legendary member and other experienced member who control or validate it. people in those social media only looking for engagement and follower, they don't really care about you.

The best thing you could do with that is to forget it for at least a decade. Focus on your study and graduate. Find a good job and a steady income so you don't have to touch your BTC. Accumulate more if you can. Even in bull markets I always regret selling my coins.

As for someone like him saving his ass during bear market seasons is just as important as actually holding his bag. Doesn't have to always apply to taking profits, it's more important when you're looking at a loss. And in that regard OP should look into learning about how the market works, and how charts are being read so he could study the market and devise good predictions that will help him get by.

You're on a good track, the strategy should work out fruitfully for you. As long as you ensure that you won't have to sell even 1-2 years post-halving, you should do well. At least, I think so...I'm doing something similar so hopefully it works out for us

As other have said, even government can't stop Bitcoin. They can hinder it with regulations, propaganda, and spreading fear/uncertainty/doubt through media and laws, though ultimately Bitcoin has been built in a way where an individual can safely ignore all of that crap and still use Bitcoin with no problems if they are clever enough.

I would prepare to hold for longer than 2024, expect to hold until end of 2025. Bull cycles historically have started 6~ months after the halving and have continued with high volatility for 2-2.5~ years post-halving. If Bitcoin doesn't save us from inflation, honestly, I don't know what will.

Thant's right, it's worth doing, but only when bitcoin is in a bull market, when it has been able to reach the new ATH, then you can pay for everything you need with bitcoin, if you have such an opportunity. All countries around the world are facing the inflation problem, actually, you are envious because at the age you have now, if I look at it, at that young age you have a bitcoin that you are ready to hold until the bull run comes . And I admire the height of your belief in Bitcoin.

You didn't do your research well on the aspect of government is probably the one that can stop bitcoin. The government has failed so many times as they try to do that. You are free to sell your bitcoin whenever you choose, but you should at least have a predetermined price you desire to sell your bitcoin since you have 1 bitcoin already. Given the impending bull run, 2024 or 2025 is a favorable opportunity to sell your bitcoin.
