I have 1 Bitcoin @ 29k  & I keep about $3000 in cash in my bank as emergency fund
With your Bitcoin knowledge thus far, you should have realized that this can be dangerous; your Bitcoin amount can kill you.

...and not seeing it as a 'investment' but more of a freedom digital currency. -snip-
If you guys have any tips , do let me know ... I would be very grateful for it.
If you don't consider Bitcoin to be an investment, don't ask for advice from others; it will make you hesitate in making decisions.

You have started early and pretty glad you have a good grasp of the bitcoin. You a plan and you are sticking to it. Great job.

Quote
The only thing that can stop bitcoin is probably the government.

The government cannot "turn off" bitcoin. The only way they can do it if ever they want to try is to turn off the entire internet, which is not possible. Another way they may choose to do this is to try and gain control of all the miners and execute a 51% miner attack on the network. No matter how long they try to fight it, soon enough they would realize that as a means of survival amid economic and social challenges.

Instead of putting a time frame to sell why not have a price target. Rather than planning to sell in Kate '24 or early '25 you can target when Bitcoin reaches $100k in value or more?
-snip-
This is a good suggestion as I think so too. Instead of targeting sales at the end of 2024 or 2025, it is better to target sales at the highest price like the upcoming ATH.
But need diamond hands to do that and don't be affected by the FUD that suddenly appears.
Just believe in the price target to be achieved and hold it.

The Bitcoin cycle continues to run, and now that Bitcoin is approaching Halving it will certainly be a good opportunity to enter.
When an 18-year-old teenager has accumulated 1 BTC and has a $3k Fiat reserve it is also extraordinary.
Even when I was 18 I didn't have any assets.

I do find myself rather left out sometimes .. I
never interested into getting into a relationship
never partied before
never smoked
never had a sip of alcohol
don't really spend money . ( Took me 2 years to deciding to buy a PS5 as a treat)

I don't know how to really describe this but teenagers around my age these days are really questionable.

also ,

I did not expect to get so many support from the bitcoin community , i would like to thank you guys.
I got my bitcoin in my cold storage(trezor) . I hope school keeps me busy enough to not think about bitcoin so i can HODL longer haha. Good luck to everyone and continue to HODL !! it will be worth it Smiley

Wow, congratulations for your mindset, being this smart and thinking about the future in that way, when you are 18 years old, it's not common at all! Just keep doing your researches about bitcoin, keep investing, and don't worry when the market goes down, you have a whole life to see a lot of new ATH. I seriously wish I was this smart when I was 18, kudos to you!

I know this is just your joke, but don't be too subjective because everything in the future is unpredictable.  always improve your knowledge of bitcoin and the market so you don't fall behind, and the more knowledge you have, the better you understand bitcoin thereby helping you to be more confident in your investment.

I admire you as a student being able to hold the amount of bitcoin that many people are dreaming of.  i don't know if bitcoin can make you richer, but it will make your life more worthwhile.

But imagine OP as a student owning BTC at early age would be a advantage for him. So whenever how many years would it take if he decided to hodl Bitcoin as if it doesn't exist for him then good for him because whatever the market would be for sure it would reach high amount than this year. By that time as he hodl Bitcoin he could also invest at his knowledge since he's too busy enough at school where he could also add Bitcoin subject for him to learn. We learn everyday even people who started early are still learning today. Maybe if OP studying in PH, I think it would be hard for him to keep up as the educational system here is too hard. Imagine your class starts at 8AM then ends at 6PM you can't even do any extra curricular activities by that time.

First of all you can't say that at the end of 2024 you can sell your Bitcoin,  are you sure that it's up to 100k$ per Bitcoin at that time?  What if end of 2024 Bitcoin remain at 30k$ only in the market? Will you sell it?

Of course you will be waiting for a few months, years depending on its price, because we know Bitcoin's price value is volatile, and no one really knows what will happen in 2024. Though many are expecting high on this particular only be 100k $ each of Bitcoin's but it is still a prediction to this day.

OP get lucky due young age have 1 bitcoin in his wallet and difference with my self know Bitcoin after pass on college but ever have many bitcoin but not hold yet, I think very good decision from OP holding bitcoin as many possible actually still on 18 years old and have beneficial at the future with bitcoin will going up more than first time investing by OP. Current Bitcoin price drop few percent from OP investment, right now drop to $29,000 but don't worry for OP price bitcoin will back.

Its not bad ideas when having 1 Bitcoin trade as short term due still not close yet with halving time and has chance for OP get double his bitcoin due price change raise $1k until $2k in this months. I am appreciated with OP still as student have mindset with investing in Bitcoin and hold it for long term, not any necessary needed and have parent supported with financial I think OP can get many bitcoin as holding assets before halving time.

No one can predict what the next ATH will be and you could be left holding your bags if you're waiting for that before you sell. It's better to set a realistic target and wait for that price to be hit before selling.

For example, I expect that we will break the $100k mark during he next bullrun, I can make $90k or $120k my target price and hodl till it hits that, regardless of how long it takes.
Indeed, no prediction is 100% accurate, and sometimes even the trend changes 180 degrees from bullish to bearish in a matter of minutes.
Of course, realistic targets are needed so that there are no mistakes in taking which price limit will be sold.

$100k is the base price of ATH that can be achieved, the lower limit of sales is $90k and the upper limit of sales is $120k.
Such a sales strategy is quite effective, selling part at the lower price and the other part at the upper price target.
Then the profit can be maximized and not miss sales at the main target price.

I have 1 Bitcoin @ 29k  & I keep about $3000 in cash in my bank as emergency fund

I am actually amazed that an 18-year old person can accumulate 1 BTC at their disposal. The fact that you also allocate your emergency fund implies that you know how to manage your finances. If I had that kind of money at my disposal when I was 18 years old, I would have most likely spent in on other stuff.

I really admire that you also know your priorities as young as 18 years old. You understand the mechanics and fundamentals of BTC and on how it can improive its price later on. Continue what you are doing OP and this will definitely reap rewards in the future.

The BTC halving that will happen this 2024 is one of those key moments that almost everyone is anticipating. With the price of BTC sitting comfortably around $29,000, there is a huge chance that its price may increase, thereby increasing almost everyones's value of BTC in that time.

I just hope I have your resilience and patience when it comes to these things. I am having a hard time managing my finances and I hope I can learn a thing or two from you, OP.

Whether you invest in Bitcoin long term or short term is entirely your personal decision. I just feel it from a really deep interest. I can't do any math on it. The reason is that everyone is very interested in Bitcoin. It sits right where Bitcoin was. It went way up, it doubled and then halved again. If you can afford to wait and risk losing your investment, it is worth holding onto your investment for the long term.
It is important to know what to do before you do it though. Sure you can do long term or short term holding, but if you start short term and become long term it may not be a much issue, however if you start long term and turn to short term then that could be a huge issue for you.

This is why it's smarter to make sure that you end up with something more sensible in that regard and could make a big change in the end. I know that it will take some time but it could also be something more to care about as well. I know that it will not be that simple, and I know that it will take a while but as long as it goes along with your pattern and strategy, then you could do whatever you want, there is only caring about sticking with it.

I see that you have an interesting plan in mind regarding your involvement with Bitcoin and your financial activities, I would advise you in the first instance to continue learning about Bitcoin and how it works.. As you further understand its technology and its potential impact on the system financial, you will be able to make more informed decisions because BTC has other characteristics that are quite attractive in addition to the ones you mentioned, Bitcoin has the potential to provide significant profits, my perspective on this investment is long term... I try not to make impulsive decisions based on daily fluctuations instead I focus on the big picture and your long-term financial goals.

Being a student and from personal experience because I am also a student, I would tell you that it is important to have rigorous control over your expenses. Therefore, keep a budget and make sure you live within your means. In addition to your Bitcoin focus, consider setting up a long-term investment and savings plan… this helps me a lot in building a solid financial foundation and protecting myself in the event of unforeseen changes in the market… without further ado. Good luck in your studies and in your financial activities!

You can sell anytime as long as you are seeing impressive profits on your investment. But if you’ll wait for a bullish market, then that will definitely give you a deserving harvest. My only advice to you is never to marry your investment or your bitcoin itself. You can set it as your future goal and do everything to get it, but if you fail and lose on your investment, don’t be totally affected on it. There are a lot of opportunities in the market, learn to invest but never expect profitability most of the time.

If you guys have any tips , do let me know ... I would be very grateful for it.
Don't marry the bag, sell it when you know that you've multiplied your profit to a staggering percentage, you will always be able to get back to bitcoin even if you sell your bitcoin because the price will eventually correct itself so just keep a watch on what's happening on the market and the price of bitcoin so you know what to do next. If you're unfamiliar with the saying that I've said, I'm basically telling you to sell your bitcoin when the price is pumping and the sentiment of the market is that it's nearing the peak, aim for that peak when you sell.
This. Keep seeing people out here telling OP to hold on for dear life but are not really aware of a person's capacity to hold their bags. As for someone like him saving his ass during bear market seasons is just as important as actually holding his bag. Doesn't have to always apply to taking profits, it's more important when you're looking at a loss. And in that regard OP should look into learning about how the market works, and how charts are being read so he could study the market and devise good predictions that will help him get by.

Most of all OP, take it easy. Most of us here lost more than what we could've assumed and if not for us staying strong in mind we wouldn't be here anymore, tanking a loss is pretty nasty, but not coming back from it is even more. Don't beat yourself up and quit after your first loss, carry on and learn to be a better investor!

that is a very good plan, but as someone who experienced in bitcoin investment I suggest you to not sell it in one time. For me it is possible to predict when the bullish market come but I think it is still very hard to predict the peak of it, so to maximize the profit maybe you can gradually sell it when you think the price is the peak of the bullish market. at that time usually there are many people spread FUD so you have to stick to your plan. don't looking for news in social media such as instagram, youtube, twitter and etc. only trust news in this forum because there are many legendary member and other experienced member who control or validate it. people in those social media only looking for engagement and follower, they don't really care about you.

I wish I was 18 and hold 1 BTC now. Smiley
The best thing you could do with that is to forget it for at least a decade. Focus on your study and graduate. Find a good job and a steady income so you don't have to touch your BTC. Accumulate more if you can. Even in bull markets I always regret selling my coins.

That's cause they want OP to be on the same team as them, the diamond hands that will only sell their bitcoin for an unspecified and unknown (even to them) price which will only get higher and higher as the ATH keeps getting higher, they want OP to be like them, who wants to sell beyond what the current ATH would be which won't ever be reached. I would agree with you on OP learning the basics but I think he's still got a lot of time in his hands that's better off spent on living rather than be obsessed with bitcoin. OP should just learn about supply and demand model and I think he's good to go.
