Do you know of any restaurants and/or supermarkets in the US and abroad that sells food for BTC? It would be nice to avoid Fiat altogether and use BTC to buy our life necessities. The only place I could think of is El Salvador with its acceptance of Bitcoin as legal tender. It's likely every merchant and business there accepts BTC as payment method. I don't know about the US and developed countries. Could someone enlighten me? Thanks in advance. Smiley

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

You should be able to find the ones that accept bitcoin directly on CoinMap. otherwise, you will have to use gift cards from bitrefill or some other gift card provider that accepts bitcoin, but this obviously only applies to big companies.

There are only few which directly accepts BTC as payment method but many food companies accept btc indirectly. Like first you have yo buy gift cards using BTC and then using those gift cards you could buy food.

  • You could buy Food at Starbucks and Whole Foods Market -->Source
  • You could buy groceries directly from these stores -->Source

My suggestion for you is: Buy all the groceries at once like in bulk this will save your transactions fee of BTC and also a good gesture towards savings. You should use BTC wisely as i also know food is necassary too but spending of BTC should be strategic. Only thing came to my mind in terms of food is gift cards are best way.

I never thought of buying products that have cheap prices with bitcoins. Transaction fees will look very expensive for transactions under $200. Especially if every time you pay you have to wait for the transaction to be confirmed by the network, it takes a long time. Even though I love bitcoin, in some cases, using bitcoin is not a solution but a new problem.

But I'm not against your wish to find a restaurant that can pay with bitcoins. In my country bitcoin is banned as a means of payment and can only be owned as an asset so I can't recommend anything to you. But if I may ask, wouldn't you find it expensive to buy a cheap product with a transaction fee of around $0.5? In my opinion using fiat is cheaper and free of transaction fees if you use the same bank network

If I am not wrong, Subway and Burger King are accepting Bitcoin and other crypto payments. They use the Flexa payment network to get it processed. El Salvador is in a different universe, everything and anything can be paid off with Bitcoin, completely avoiding the usage of Flat. Starbucks also has Bitcoin payments accepted, depending on the store location. And in groceries, Whole Foods Market is the one which accepts Bitcoin.

I posted something in the german part of the forum 2 days ago. It is about the fast food company Subway, which accepts bitcoin in Germany. Not all stations, but there are over 100. Here is my posting and the report in the Media about it: Re: BTC Akzeptanz bei PayPal, Tesla, Amazon, Twitter, Mastercard, Sparkasse ... There you can buy your sandwich, which is not cheap, but they are food and drinks.

Could someone enlighten me? Thanks in advance. Smiley

If @Faisal2202 managed to find the answer to your question, I doubt that you couldn't do the same, it's about the basics of using a search engine.

I will not repeat what is already on the links in the previous posts, but as far as the EU is concerned, the Dutch city of Arnhem is known as Bitcoin City and they say that you can buy almost anything for BTC there, including food.

Inhabitants of Arnhem Bitcoin City use bitcoin to pay for everything while shopping. Visitors of the Bitcoin town must understand the requirements when transacting in the city. Bitcoin is the city’s primary payment source. Restaurants, bars, hotels, and supermarkets allow customers to pay with Bitcoin. One can buy cakes, pastries such as doughnuts, food, flowers, interior design, and even frozen yogurt. A popular wood engraver, Tim also accepts Bitcoin as payment for his services. He has even put up a customized wooden sign printed in support of advertising that he accepts bitcoins. Most people get motivated to use bitcoin to pay for their beers with crypto.

The Bitcoin city advertises over 100 venues that accept bitcoin payments, and it is an impressive density of bitcoin-accepting merchants. The popularity of bitcoin lets one purchase organic food, car parts, sweets, and escape games. One can also travel between Arnhem and the airport to rent a car or hire a taxi.

On the other side of the world, there is the island of Boracay (Philippines) where Bitcoin has become a common means of payment, so you can also buy food for BTC there.

I never thought of buying products that have cheap prices with bitcoins. Transaction fees will look very expensive for transactions under $200.
~snip~

The value of the transaction has nothing to do with fees, but depends on some other factors such as the number of inputs/outputs (the size of the transaction) and the current state of the mempool. This means that if you were to buy food for $200 now (paid in BTC) and it was a standard-sized transaction, you would pay about $0.70 for a priority transaction.

Yes, for occasional purchases, $0.7 might not be a problem. But if I make purchases frequently enough, like eating 3x a day, $0.7 is going to be a serious problem for me. especially for me it only takes $3 for a meal so $0.7 is a lot as it seems like 20% of my meal cost

Btw, sorry if this is off topic, but honestly I'm curious if bitcoins are effective for everyday purchases? Maybe someone who has lived in a country where bitcoin is legal as a means of payment can share their experience with bitcoin. I have a thought that bitcoins are not effective for everyday purchases due to high transaction fees and busy network so they often get delayed but that is just my opinion, I have never had any real experience using bitcoins for daily transactions.

For transactions in large numbers, let alone across countries, we seem to agree that the use of bitcoin is very effective and transaction costs look very cheap compared to the fiat system.

As far as I know Burger King accepts payment through Bitcoin.  But I don't know about any other restaurant.  However, I have come to know about some restaurants by article from Google, but I am not sure how true they are. 5 Restaurant that accept Bitcoin as there payment I have some faith in these 5 restaurants accepting Bitcoin which is why I shared this article link here. But I am confused about the restaurants other than Burger King

I heard that Rotan Island in Caribbean accepts bitcoin widely and bitcoin can be used to pay for whatever thing you want to buy in Rotan. They have a large bitcoin community on the Island so using bitcoin in their restaurant is accepted.

In my country bitcoin is illegal and I have never thought of using bitcoin for buying foodstuff because you can only use it in some businesses that accept bitcoin secretly. I don't think that we can deal without using fiat in this world because bitcoin and fiat goes hand in hand.

Lucius was actually referring to the $200 you hinted, i would say it would be carefree to actually make a purchase of such things at such price using any electronic means that’s is even fiat transfer or credit card because the fee will certainly be a worth after. The only way will be paying through paper money.

Bitcoin isn’t effectively ok if you’re definitely buying stuffs of low cost like below $10 dollar but aside that it seems ok. Also most of these businesses will surely have the lightening network integrated which is key to saving one from paying too much and also makes transactions faster. But aside that it is not ok to pay using bitcoin for frivolous things. I even advice it usage only on cross border transactions or when fiat payment will be a stress

Though I've never set foot in El Salvador, one fascinating tale I came across involved someone purchasing coffee with Bitcoin there. This story serves as a vivid reflection of how Bitcoin has become a fully embraced currency in the country, without any restrictions whatsoever.

https://youtube.com/shorts/fa9xB69jZk0?feature=share

Regarding the progress of other nations, like the US or any other country you mentioned, it's crucial to note that the decision to adopt Bitcoin as a payment alternative has no bearing on a country's level of advancement. Each nation holds the prerogative to decide whether Bitcoin deserves to be considered as an alternative payment method. Such determinations are entirely subjective and rest on the shoulders of the respective leaders of the concerned nation.

Smiley

There are more to this but here are few companies that accepts bitcoin payment online https://buybitcoinworldwide.com/who-accepts-bitcoin/ once you've subscribed to them, ensure that you make a decision to select your payment option as lay with bitcoin, it is very easy and still getting more comfortable for people to see where they can make their online transactions in bitcoin and purchase goods and other materials, food and groceries where payment can be allowed in bitcoin, i know of the meldives resort accepting bitcoin for payment, some educational institutions as well and many more together with El-Savador where bitcoin is a legal tender.

You can use the lightning network which is cheaper in terms of costs, if sending from the onchain network it will be very expensive if you often make transactions but currently the lightning network has been widely implemented in a restaurant that accepts bitcoin.

Yes, I also have no experience in bitcoin transactions for everyday buying food or whatever and it is only available in certain regions with fairly wide adoption in their country, as I said the lightning network is a solution for cheaper costs, so if someone, for example, often makes transactions to buy something with bitcoin then the lightning network is the solution.

I saw some media spread how someone paid something with bitcoin using LN.

I have seen that in cities with a large community of Bitcoin enthusiasts it is possible to find some restaurants and shops that accept Bitcoin as payment, areas with a higher concentration of tech startups and cryptocurrency enthusiasts tend to offer this option. But I feel that on a national level, the adoption of Bitcoin as a method of payment in supermarkets and restaurants has not yet reached a significant level, clearly due to the volatility and the lack of regulatory filtering... What I have noticed is that in New York They are more open in accepting Bitcoin, if you are in this city, I will give you this link where they indicate several restaurants where you can buy with BItcoin.

Source: https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/22/10/29346501/crypto-friendly-restaurants-are-cropping-up-in-nyc-here-are-our-recommendations

On the other hand, abroad, such as in the United States, the adoption of Bitcoin as a payment method varies by country... Some countries may have a greater acceptance of cryptocurrencies due to factors such as favorable regulations or the need for a payment alternative. solutions and I would say that the best currently would be Germany, Japan and clearly El Salvador.

Many people in the midst of the bitcoin fever wanted to appear in the news next to the trend: the growing bitcoin. Therefore, they sought to introduce bitcoin payment at them services. But the trouble is that legally it's hard to do. Even in countries where bitcoin is legalized, there is not always enough legal practice to absolutely accurately and legally carry out the simplest transactions, like buying coffee.
Difficulties of this kind:
What if you are dissatisfied with the product or service and demand a refund?
Then seller have to return to you the amount in the amount of bitcoin?
Or an amount equivalent to fiat money at time of selling?

How much food are you going to buy to make your one time purchase worth it? I would not want to spend 3$ on food and use half a dollar to make payment, if I go out to but food at a restaurant in my country the charges is like 0.10$ or even lower in my fiat to dollar rate.

It's cool to order food using Bitcoin but if I have to do it I will have to buy foods, not just the little that will fill up my stomach, maybe 10$ or 20$ worth of food, this won't make me feel like I am spending too much on the transaction for food.

People who could do this comfortably outside of regions where Bitcoin is legal tender are likely bitcoiners (true & passionate ones) who understand Bitcoin and know how best to use it without feeling like criminals or getting into trouble with the authorities.
A typical bitcoiner would probably take the route of the pizza guy by offering to deliver foods made at home to choice addresses of fellow forum/community members. But it's important that the sellers are well known old and reputable members who are true bitcoiners. Not the kind of people who would treat Bitcoin as fiat and announce to the whole world and their countrymen that they accept Bitcoin here.

Not from there but will share my experience a bit. As much as I want to forcefully use some of my btc into buying things, I've only seen a few merchants and they're not that big business but only stalls in some malls. So, if you can't find anything just like mine then browse over online shops or restaurants that does delivery and maybe from there you'll find a shop that accepts BTC.

That's true and despite I am not from there, I've seen a couple of videos where you can even pay Mcdonalds with bitcoin.
