Is Bitcoin still Beta Software

I noticed the quote above at the bottom of one of the first pages of the thread. I have never really thought or seen Bitcoin as beta software. It has been here for the past 14 years, and we have seen several releases in the Bitcoin core, with the latest being 25.0. Is it still beta software? If yes, how would we know that it is no longer beta software?

For the second statement, it is good advice not to put all our money into Bitcoin. What would we call people who go against this rule? Gamblers? High-risk takers, or just plain stupid. I'll bet on Bitcoin. Would you?

Do you mind sharing the URL exactly where you read it? Maybe it's an old post and at that time, the update which they were referring to was in actual Beta? Bitcoin is not in Beta and is actually on the version 25 of Core release as you already mentioned. Please include the post URL or give more information, "above at the bottom" doesn't make any sense and don't even help to locate it personally.

Putting all your money into one thing is never advisable, even if the thing is not Bitcoin. It's always advisable for someone not to have overconfidence to the extent that it could lead to that person's foolishness. Putting all your hard-earned cash and investment into Bitcoin means you have handed over your life to Bitcoin, as your blood pressure will now be regulated by how the price of Bitcoin goes up or down. Anytime you see a great deal in the market, the doctor will have to be called, or you will have your Prinivil and Zestril in your hands all the time .

According to the post made by achow101 (who is one of bitcoin core developers), it's no longer a beta software, however it's still an experimental software.

Bitcoin Core still (intentionally) contains a line that says "this software is experimental". The line saying that Bitcoin Core is beta software was removed in 2014.

Anyone who already knows the rules and has also read the experiences of others but decides to put all of his money into Bitcoin is only acting on their own choice, and you would not tell them how to spend their money; perhaps they have already read the rules, so let them be at risk for every result they get from their actions. It has been discussed several times that one should not put all their funds into Bitcoin unless they have better plans for other sources of income; otherwise, the person cannot hold their coin for a long time to earn profit. I think Anyone who is not following the rules is either relying on other sources of income or perhaps they have already made the agreement to sell off as soon as they have any arising need for money. So, my point is that whoever chooses that part already knows what they are in for.

I have already questioned the messages that appear under the topic that appears randomly by creating a topic in Bitcoin Discussion so that I find the answer that the message that often appears under the topic is factoids.
The message that appeared was apparently the advertisement shared by the forum admin.

You can deactivate advertisements so as not to be displayed again by installing a plugin to make an advertisement not displayed again. Settings on the Bitcointalk account profile are also available. This is all I found in the local discussion room shared by experienced members.

The messages are quite entertaining and useful.

Regarding Bitcoin is still a beta software, I can't answer because I don't know about Bitcoin in detail.

I quite agree with this take. The Bitcoin Core software has been around for quite enough time already to probably exit the “beta” phase, but Bitcoin’s current age is still quite young to exit the “experimental” phase knowing how ambitious of an experiment Bitcoin is.

Wayback machine has an oldest snapshot on 8 May 2013 and the sentence was there. It means the specific factoid sentence has never been updated since 2013.

It's already old, theymos isn't removing an old factoid, but he just add the new factoid.

I'd call Bitcoin is beta software or experimental technology if there's a possibility of something bad could happen e.g. hack, centralized or anything that opposite with the whitepaper.

Maybe Bitcoin become a legal tender is still experimental since only two country currently accept that, but Bitcoin itself isn't experimental anymore.

It is not a comment to discredit Bitcoin or to discourage people from investing in the coin. But this is just investment advice for everyone. Of course, I have total confidence in Bitcoin as an investment, but it is always better to play by the rules. Investing what you can afford to lose is the rule of the game. But if you are a high-risk taker, you can be lucky to earn more but you can also lose all.

For now, it is just El Salvador that is that still accepts Bitcoin as legal tender. Last year the Central African Republic parliament made a law reversing the statute that made Bitcoin a legal tender in the country. So bitcoin is not a legal tender in CAR for now.

Bitcoin in itself is not software, and whoever says that refers to Bitcoin Core or any Bitcoin wallet that runs a full node, but the system itself is no longer Beta, but it is high-risk and transparent, so if you want to protect your privacy, you must take some measures to enhance it.

According to the FAQ section from the Bitcoin.org website:

So, even though the Bitcoin Core software is no longer in beta, Bitoin as a whole is still considered to be "in the process of maturing". I think that's a good explanation.

It’s not really the age of existence that decides if a certain software is in beta phase or not — it’s mostly more of how production-ready a certain software is, and this is mostly decided by the developer/s. Obviously bitcoin is open-source so there’s no one central authority that decides on this.

For those who are wondering why it's now v25.0 and not the old versioning system like v0.25.0, it started in release version 22.0.

Specifically this Pull Request: build: Drop the leading 0 from the version number (#20223)

Basically, they're just fed up with users asking when will v1.0 will be released and gone straight to v22.0.
But there's no mention that Bitcoin Core had been in beta phase nor going out of beta phase.

Bitcoin is a protocol not a software. This protocol has many different implementations, some of which are still in beta some aren't. Some are mature, some are weak, some are unpopular, some are partial implementation, some are full implementation, ...

For example Electrum is an implementation of part of the protocol and hasn't been in beta for many years.

I don't think the officially released Bitcoin software could ever count as beta, because beta implies that there will be a full release with a new blockchain. Sure, there was a lot of bugs in early days, but software in general is quite buggy at version 1.0, because bugs get uncovered when lots of users start to actually use the software. By definition beta is something incomplete, and when satoshi mined the first block, the software already was complete and had all the necessary functions for sending and receiving money.
