What exactly do you explain to your friend—I mean, the things you told him that made him change his mind from not accepting bitcoin to accepting it?

We all have our choices to make, don't force anyone to follow your own part, because you think that will be the best option for him, it works for you does not mean it will work for others, the said person might really be the type that only care about what they can see and touch physically as that is what they understand the most and manager properly without needing an extra hand on how to do it, and beside you don't know the actual amount of bitcoin which was allocated to him, since the figure is not mentioned, it might be something worth less down a landed property, and the person in question is so much interested on how to use his own share of the will to start up soemthing for him self, @OP do you really think Bitcoin will be the best for him ?

Maybe the OP is just a newbie here on the forum, but that does not completely make him a Newbie in the crypto industry, as most people might have developed crypto knowledge outside of this forum.

What a great imagination with a touch of fallacy. This is my first time I will see that Bitcoin is being inherited by some from his deceased parent. This is still strange to me and I can still laugh over this enough. Bitcoin is a digital coin that can only be traded online. For you to inherit Bitcoin there is need to have access to the wallet private key. And the wallet private key can be used by anyone or even the so called lawyer can access the private key and transfer the coin. I will like to get to the bottom of this story and I hope op will tell us what ensued between him and the person involved.

It's actually very unfortunate that your friend doesn't understand at all about Bitcoin which his late father owned. Even though it appears that in his will, his father actually wanted to pass on the Bitcoin to your friend, but maybe your friend didn't really care about the Bitcoin before.
You did a good thing by advising your friends to accept those Bitcoins and suggesting that your friends can learn more about basic Bitcoin knowledge. So that your friend's father's inheritance can be used by your friend and not be wasted. Your friend can hold it and sell it when the price is high, but before that make sure your friend already has and understands basic knowledge about crypto and Bitcoin first.

I doubt any newbiew can teach about Bitcoin and when you are learning, you must be more careful with your words in conversation as if you make mistakes in knowledge, security advice, you don't help your friend but do something harmful.

I get the sentiment about forum ranks and what it entails when ever we see someone on the ranking pipeline. Also, the way in which OP have narrated his encounter with this friend following the reading of the while of his friends deceased dad.

It’s advocated that newbies in the sense of the word and not on the forum not teach what they don’t understand but, forum rank don’t really define how much users know but simply lays emphasis on how long ago a user might have joined the forum with respect to how much contributions that might have been done by this individual within there period of stay.

Well, your friend will for sure find it out later on when he does his own research. Your friend is for sure just shocked by it, which is why he reacts to it and expects other things, but again, no matter what his reaction is, he will still receive those Bitcoins no matter what, as no one else can get them but him. Technological developments are quite advanced at this time, I think understanding bitcoin is quite easy and what your friend did by rejecting bitcoin inheritance was a fatal mistake. Good thing that you have given him another perspectice but at the end of the day, the decision is for him to make whether he would collect what was left for him or not. He has his own reasons to do so. But indeed lack of knowledge into something is a factor why many people are still away from this technology. The only thing we could do is to wait for government sectors and big names of different industries to also acknowledge the existence of this technology. For sure we are still on a long way befote majority of people consider using this blockchain as an alternative to fiat but atleast we are seeing progress at this moment. As we embrace technological advancements  no doubts that things would be better for this industry.

Another story that doesn't seem true, and it wouldn't be the first time that some people use their imagination to try to get some merit. To me, it would be logical for someone to protest because his father left him nothing or left him debts, and for someone to protest because Bitcoin was left to him really makes no sense.

If there is any doubt about what Bitcoin is, can't it be found out within a few minutes using the internet and a search engine? That imaginary friend is therefore a rather unintelligent person if he behaves in that way.

It's an interesting story - but I wonder what the lawyer did after the heir didn't know the value of bitcoins?
Should the lawyer remain silent when the heir's first impression is that he rejects bitcoin - or should he also be angry and walk away without giving the heir an explanation about bitcoin?

And then I'd say this is a strange case - but I'm really getting more and more curious about how the story will play out. Of course - not everyone knows the basics of bitcoin and how valuable the asset is - but it's an obligation for heirs to get an explanation of what they'll be receiving be it property, money, stock or cryptocurrency.

Wouldn't really advise you giving half-baked information about bitcoin to a friend but seeing as the situation calls for it given the fact that he's not happy he's getting some of it as his inheritance, I'll let it slide this time. Good of you to let him know about bitcoin too but I suggest you dig deep into it as well so you don't spread information that they'll hold you for, especially since these times are a little tough for investments and people are losing their money left and right. You wouldn't want a friend blaming you about losing their money cause you told them to do this and that. Encourage him to study crypto too as when done right it could really set you up for financial success, something that a house and a business couldn't necessarily give since those don't instill financial literacy as much as cryptocurrencies do in my opinion.

That's why it's quoted that knowledge is actually power and without proper knowledge you stand a chance to lose all benefits that might come your way in respect to that knowledge. This is a funny reaction of a guy receiving Bitcoins.  If the story is true, the person who received the inheritance is a noob unless the current worth of the BTC given to him as an inheritance does not even have a quarter of the value of their property.  But if the amount of BTC surpasses half of the value of the property then we might be reading a different story.

I do not think that the person will act rushly without investigating what Bitcoin is.  I bet the guy did look for the information about BTC and got furious because the current value of BTC is way lower than what he is expecting.  So I am finding the story a bit confusing and at the same time missing something or someone deliberately omit something between what really happened just to make it fit on the story.

Hahah this is really funny. If this would have been about technicality of bitcoin I still would have given a complete benefit of doubt to him but what is he living under the rocks? Everyone Atleast knows that bitcoin is a valuable asset which has a significant value almost equal to house or hard cash. Strange how such people still exist in 21st century. First time to heard this kind of story, I mean I just wondering why the son didn't know that his father was into bitcoin or crypto? are they not close? So it's very uncanny to me that the son was at lost regarding the inheritance, unless they are strange or not that close.

But I guess he can't do anything about the bitcoins that he got, not sure how big it is, and we don't know what advise you give your friend. Whether to hold on if for a long term or at least wait for the next bull run or sell it right away.

Probably his father was a silent bitcoiner, that even his own family is not aware that he’s been owning bitcoin for a long time. A simple search would exactly tell him what to do with his inheritance, but his temper overpowered him.
That's not a surprise at all as many people will jump to any hype without bothering about asking what it is all about.
Later on, this person will thank his father for giving him some bitcoins as his inheritance.
This goes to show also that people are impatient with new things, they forgot to see what's really in it for them, because it is shrouded by high temper.
