It would baffle a lot of people and the fact that you measure satoshi's worth in wealth helps explain that.

It was never, at least not solely, intended to be just about wealth. And when the purpose appeared to be achieved, there was no reason for them to stay, snd every reason for them to depart, allowing for natural progression.

That single move is probably a big reason Bitcoin is where it is today.

The emergence of Satoshi a.k.a. bitcoin was indeed the best thing that has happened on tech space. Digital finance came just when it was due time for it in accordance with the trend and evolution in modern age. I strongly believe behind the evolving of bitcoin is a team led by one person who is the sole originator of such idea with they coming together to work collectively to achieving the bitcoin goal. Bitcoin till date will continue to evolve as satoshi is not known. If not for the disappearance of satoshi, I think they would have succeeded in bringing down bitcoin to being regulated and that would have caused more harm than the good for which it was created. Till today the satoshi emergence and disappearance is still a wonder yet to be understood.

I do not know what you are hinting at, but this is what really happened. Some great achievements in life require a great sacrifice.

Some scientists in the nineteenth century tried to inject themselves with the virus to try a new drug, and they were exposed to danger, and some of them may have died in order to achieve their goal and invent a new drug that saves humanity.
(....)
Exactly, we can relate Bitcoin to some inventions that stays since day 1 until now. Where inventors are just acknowledged for their work, that's how legendary made.

For me, even if Satoshi Nakamoto still exists or not anymore, Bitcoin will stay the same and will continue to grow just like what Satoshi Nakamoto expected.

I find it completely understandable for a person who supports decentralization to remove oneself from the equation after ensuring that a product is stable enough and has a community that will work on its maintenance. It is consistent with the values of privacy and decentralization, as there's no highest authority that people listen to when it comes to further development and direction that Bitcoin takes. Moreover, it's simply reasonable because with fame comes tons of unwanted attention from people who are obsessed with your life, people who feel like you ruined their lives, the authorities etc. Living a normal life without all that is a blessing.

Satoshi disappearance is good for Bitcoin community because it will increase the decentralized perspective, if Satoshi is still active communicate, attending seminars or anything that proving his identity, people will think Satoshi can fully control Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is a threat for centralized bank and fiat too, there have been many cases where someone invented a great thing and then suddenly there's a news if the creator is die without any clear reason.

I still wonder about it, can Satoshi control bitcoins?  If he could control it, he could still do it in the dark without showing his face.  but I believe even he can't control it and that's the great thing about bitcoin.  but his disappearance also contributes to bitcoin's safety, if he were caught by the government and forced to work for them, bitcoin's reputation would be questioned and severely damaged.  it can be said that he made a completely right decision, both safe for him and maximum perfection for bitcoin.

~snip~

How could one person, even Satoshi, control Bitcoin when it was designed precisely to be decentralized? Asking such a question actually shows that you don't understand the basics at all, but that's actually a completely different story.

~snip~
It baffles me that someone could have such wealth and fortune and not even touch it for sooooo long. Could you imagine this forum shaking to its core if one of his wallets became active? That would he a sight to see.

It does not surprise me at all that someone can make such a move in life, but for most people it is truly inconceivable that someone did something so revolutionary and that he did not achieve financial benefit for himself personally. When we talk about the forum, it is completely irrelevant what would happen on the forum or outside the forum in the event that BTC is moved from one of the addresses that are connected to Satoshi - because that would not mean that Satoshi really appeared, but that maybe it is someone else came into possession of his private keys.

However, I don't think that someone like Satoshi was so sloppy that he didn't understand how important it is that this never happens, and that means that those keys are more than well protected or even destroyed.

For some reason people always want to know the story behind...
And sometimes they do not understand how important their creation is, I am not saying it just because of SN itself, one case out of so many that there is could be Albert Einstein, yes, perhaps he is well known for his famous formula E=mc2, but they have no idea of the direct influence it has with other technologies for his various contributions to science; such as GPS, which is free to use by the way.

That's the point, you don't see anyone asking who is owed the creation of the GPS, then, the use exceeds its creator.

Of course, credit must be given, well it was AE, in the case of Bitcoin it was SN.  Then the rest is gossip, technological show business news.  Wink

Satoshi went straught into it hustled to make the bitcoin blockchain, got a bunch of folks to help him, made it fool proof and then just was like welp okay I'm out, dueces. To never be heard from again, never even use any of their massive fortune, not a single lead as to where he is or what he is doing right now. What other world changing technology do you think they are working on right now?

We never know what technology they are working right now but I believe we will know it once it is announced in public.

Quote
Something I have always been so curious of is what is Satoshi like? How did he grow up, did he have any siblings and what were his parents like (assuming it's just one person and a male as opposed go a group of people).

You won't get any information about your queries since Satoshi had long been AWOL in the cryptocurrency space.  I am also interested to know such details but sadly if anyone present this information, there is a high chance that it is a lie.

There are speculation that Satoshi had long been gone.  But we still hope that he is healthy living elsewhere.

I know so many people go for Hal Finney being Satoshi which would make a lot of sense since that major fortune hasn't been touched and Hal has been passed for about as long now, but why on earth would Satoshi make the first person he sent btc to be himself if he was trying to keep his identity a secret lol. That's why I think thay can't be. If you ask me Satoshi is out there living among us living an every day life, probably no different than an average upper middle class citizen so that he can keep to himself and never have any suspicion following them. That's just my 2 cents   Grin

I never thought Hal is Satoshi, it is crazy to discuss something about BTC within himself.

Besides the fact that maybe we will never know whether Satoshi died or not shortly after creating bitcoin, let's not forget that there are people who simply don't care about money. I know it sounds weird, for some it could even be some impossible to understand, but not everybody cares about money. Maybe Satoshi was like that, and let's not forget that bitcoin is what it is today especially because Satoshi disappeared leaving its creation to the world, bitcoin is actually decentralized because Satoshi stepped down, that's been a game changer.

Or maybe he was coming from a rich family a didn't feel the need to get more money, at the end he could have bought a ton of bitcoin for a few dollars shortly after disappearing, who knows...

A never ending kind of question that we do have on this entire crypto space on which it is something that cant be stopped on always going back to raise up those concerns and assumptions on whose Satoshi is.

Its not really that totally living but rather he did make out such decision which is getting in line on what he had created which is anonymity and decentralized. We dont know if he's still alive or dead
or whether Satoshi is a group of people or a single identity on which there's no way on telling on whose Satoshi is. Its true that the entire community or space is really just that eager to see a single movement out of those coins but we know and he knows that whenever that coin moves then this do proves out that he's still alive and watching up this community.

This is why its better not to raise and stress up yourself on having these questions because these kind of mysteries cant really be resolved out until if there would be some
solid information that would be leading into his identity but until now we do really fail on seeing one.

I think it just made a lot of sense how Satoshi's disappearance how he designed bitcoin to be used by everyone with the decentralized feature and be anonymous while transacting to another person. The moment it gained popularity, he deliberately planned it already, as people will start digging on his identity and where abouts. If he did not do that as early as he did, people might have found out who he really was. So, now what he have left for every one about his identity is just speculations, again just like bitcoin.
Decentralized, anonymity, and speculations all of these features are both explains bitcoin and Satoshi. IMO, Satoshi is one of those who has brilliant mind who can foresee with high probability what will happen when plan A fails and plan B works, vice versa.

I hope he is still alive the most intriguing question is when he will move his share of Bitcoin does he has other Bitcoin wallets he should be the one making a profit since he is the creator, and I don't think he will ever resurface I mean the real one because of the huge popularity of Bitcoin, he cannot protect himself and I have this opinion that he doesn't want to be in a limelight and prefer to be isolated.

Unfortunately, none of his family comes out to point out the real Satoshi, he is really good at hiding himself from the world, he really mastered it.

That's just my 2 cents   Grin
if i was a creator of bitcoin then i would do the same thing, because i don't want the government to interfere with the bitcoin i created, the pressure from them is huge and bad things will definitely happen in my life if my identity as the creator of bitcoin is known.
apart from satoshi, there are quite a few creators of great things that don't reveal themselves to the public like ransomware inventors and maintainers of silk road (online black market), the average becomes pseudonymous and has no intention of ever expressing themselves because indeed they all want to live life quietly and great.

I once went down a rabbit whole and discovered that Satoshi Nakamoto used a GMX email account, and it was still for a while before it was disabled. So, I am betting some admins at GMX in Germany may know more than the rest of us because this before end-to-end inscription of email was normal.

The other thing I was thinking is that it is much harder to be anonymous now than in the past because all the main email and social platforms try to authenticate your identity.

First of all we do not have clear proof that he left, we just know that he doesn't use the same nickname anymore, he could have gotten something else, and have some other wallet and just keep on checking. There is also an argument to be made about how Hal Finney could have been Satoshi, there are way too many similarities and also they had the first ever transaction between them, there was also rumor that someone with that name lived near him too, and considering how he passed away unfortunately. This means that Satoshi could even be gone, even if he wasn't Hal Finney, he could be someone else who passed away as well. All in all, its possible that he didn't just leave, he just couldn't be here.

Satoshi might still be living among us or dead, but it doesn't matter; all that matters is that the technology he designed is working effectively the way he thought of it before or after creating Bitcoin.
Perhaps Satoshi said that a lost Bitcoin "only make everyone else's coins worth slightly more." So, a Bitcoiner should consider his lost wallet key as a donation to the success of Bitcoin technology, what if he also just distroy the key for his wallets that hold a huge sum of Bitcoin? In this life, before something can work the way we expected it to, there are some sacrifices we must make, which I guess is what Satoshi Nakamto did. He locked up a huge amount of Bitcoin in his wallet and probably distroyed the private key to the wallet. He also realised that his technology might not really be decentralised if he made himself known. So, it's all for the good of Bitcoin.

I remember the movie "Ready Player One" where the world runs on VR which is called Oasis made by Halliday. I just like how you can compare him to Satoshi where he made it and most of the people use it and it help the economy of the country. Despite the fact that you don't have any news about him like isn't he dead or not, his invention are getting used by people. Only thign is that Bitcoin is not yet adopted fully by most of the people. Plus I think Satoshi did not really planned what would be the outcome of Bitcoin today which is makes it more amazing. His invention with Bitcoin as of today already helped a lot of people so it would be thankful for him to create BTC.

He definitely left us as a hero of information technology and left us with a mind-blowing platform. It is also wrong to think that they are left, it might happen that they are just there and do not want to come in front of the public. This could be out of the curiosity that he wants to experience the anonymous nature of Bitcoin or may be to see how it feels to use an asset that is decentralized. If he exposes himself then he might not be able to enjoy the fruits of a decentralized platform and won't be anonymous at all.

If they declared everything publicly, then everyone would start watching their assets, their money movement from wallets, strict views on their addresses, and what not.

Maybe it would have become a manipulative market because everyone would have trusted Satoshi as an owner of the system. Let us say thousands of bitcoin getting moved from his wallet could have created massive speculation about either sell-off or the other way around and thus disturbing the economy of Bitcoin in a negative way.

So he went for the good or might have already seen the future. Smart man.

Although not everyone has adopted Bitcoin, the fact remains that it has helped most people gain financial stability, has helped the economy in the sense that some people invested in Bitcoin and earned a huge profit, and with the profit they got, they have strengthened themselves and even opened up a large business or company that has employees working for them rather than staying without a job and depending on the government. Those who saw Bitcoin In its early stages as something they should put in their money made a fortune with it, and those who will still adopt Bitcoin now can make a fortune in the future. The thing is that Bitcoin adoption will not just happen at once; gradually, people are adopting it with every passing day. For example, during the first and second years of Bitcoin, I think there were only a few investors compared to the number of investors we have today.

and we are only speculating on this matter up until now. so just be grateful that we have this technology today. if the person doesn't want to be uncovered, so be it. he has his reasons. we can speculate all we want, but we may never know the truth for now.
the circumstances may be different if satoshi disclosed his identity. we may not be enjoying this market like we have now, if he publicly declare his identity.

He can't, even if he wanted to he can't, that's the good thing about bitcoin. If satoshi came back today and said that he wants to take back control of bitcoin and just run it, we could just say we do not allow you and we are going to be fine about it.

People think that there are centralization everywhere but the reality is that bitcoin is not something that would be good for anything at all, and we should realize that even Satoshi can't make it happen, and he will not be able to control it at all. I know that some people think that it's possible but the reality is that it's not possible. So, centralization is completely kicked out of bitcoin in control sense. Of course he can still screw with the price though, that's still possible.
