The only way that NFTs are free is if that it was distributed to your wallet address without you requiring to pay gas fee to claim it. Those NFTs that are free to mint but with claim button is just “technically free” because of paying gas fees.

Right now I am targeting NFTs to mint for free by just paying gas fees from projects that are speculated to do a retroactive drop to early minters and adopters.

Like Mint.Fun for example. They have a minting event until August 18 where you need to mint at least one free NFT for 7 consecutive days but you need to mint their Funpass first under mainnet ETH.

It was rumored to be like Arkham and Blur-like kind of retroactive drop style. I am just 2 days away from completing 7 straight days of free minting but usually I am paying gas fees in Optimism ETH as it’s way affordable than other supported chains like mainnet ETH, Base ETH and Zora ETH.

Just like those tokens that's given and sent to random addresses, that could be the same as those. Don't be too gullible when someone gives you free when you can't remember that you have joined a raffle or a giveaway.

That's for you to be able to avoid some potential scams that might happen to you.

So, if you have done nothing and you have never signed up for anything and you didn't mint anything then absolutely you just have to ignore it.

Maybe a dust NFT. We have seen this kind of things on tokens that are distributed to random wallets that has an intent of hacking a wallet. If it's a too good to be true asset, make a research and discover the fact why it is in your wallet. Scammers are trying to be creative as much as they can to scam people. Just don't interact with it to be safe. If I'm the one who received spam/random NFT. I will do a research first on what or where does it came from and by them, you can see what is the intention of the sender wallet.

You are kidding right? There is no such thing as free lunch box and this I have already heard from very fellow members of this forum. Not during the NFT era starting but back in the ICO times. Whenever new alts used to get launched they used to throw away free stuff all over the internet and there we used to start with the scam fight. It was really bad back then and now they have also started with the new types of scam with newer models such as the NFT one. I am pretty sure you should not be clicking that ad at all and possibly just report it to the mods if that option is really possible.

It is clear that NFT projects are no longer as popular as they were in their early days. Therefore, it is not surprising that some projects resort to adopting more enticing marketing methodologies, such as free distribution or the promise of making profits, and some projects randomly distribute tokens to addresses.

Of course, this does not mean that these codes are free or that they distribute money for free. There are those who have developed ways to hack wallets through these tokens. The victim discovers that he received the NFT token from a source he does not know, and once he tries to deal with that token, the hacker can hack the wallet. Of course, this applies to some types of wallets, but not all.

In the same vein, it is not to be confused with the legitimate free distribution campaigns of some NFT tokens products that are being carried out by some platforms on certain networks. These tokens are free, and anyone who used one of their addresses on any of these platforms can receive one of them.

99.99% of free NFTs that suddenly appear in your wallet are either phishing or scams. The scammer's job is to get you to interact with some service where you try to exchange or sell this NFT, then you do a full approve of your wallet and lose all your funds. There is nothing free and valuable in cryptocurrency at the same time.

If this is scam nfts please be very mindful if you come across something like this. I just shared this so that those who are desperate of airdrop won't rush to swap in other to receive 1.5 ETH on the picture above as I believe is another smart way to get airdrop participate or users got trapped.
1.5 eth for a free nft. It would be very strange if anyone still believed in something like this.
But there are bound to be some naive or new people who think this is possible and it's our job to discourage the rashness of new people who think luck is coming their way when it's a trap set for them.
Keep in mind that there is no such thing as free so when you encounter something like this again I think it is better to ignore it than to make some actions that are detrimental to yourself.

This was the reason I shared here for you guys to have a look at it and be at alert of something like this if it happens you comes across it. Usually I would had desperately go to swap it but due to my experience over the years I wasn't moved and I know such is too good to be real.
However I don't know if here is the appropriate place to post this is I should post at the scam section?
Experience provides new insights and it's something that is bound to happen and it's good that you didn't do anything that was risky.

On the other hand, being realistic is something that everyone needs to realize. We know that we want big profits but of course we have to be realistic that such things sometimes cannot happen with something that is free, although there is but the possibility is very small so it is important to avoid spam like this so that if we follow our passions and greed without rationality in us then the possibility of being deceived is one that is sure to happen.

As you can see from the screenshot today I checked my app and I noticed I was gift a free NFTs which is showing right inside my wallet. Actually within myself I had two things; this could be either is spam NFTs or a trap that whenever I try to connect my wallet in an opensea I may quickly get sweep off with my real money. Thanks for warning the community, however it is obvious that this is just another form of the classic scam in which you were sent some coins and in order to claim them you had to connect your wallet to a shady website and then your wallet be emptied, if anything I am surprised this did not happened more often when the NFT craze was at its highest point, however as long as people remember that there is not such a thing as a free lunch and that no one is willing to give away thousands of dollars for nothing then they will be fine.

if you think its too good to be true then its pure scam.
nobody is giving that much money for free, so i'm sure its just scam, of course there are actually many NFT being released nowadays for the sake of eligibility of airdrops in the future
like those new emerging blockchain that gives voyage NFT and being used for future purpose of airdrop qualification, but the thing is that in getting those NFT you are the ones that claims the NFT not just getting
sent some random NFT like this, moreover giving 1.5 ETH for free, no airdrop is giving away ethereum, at best its their token, so the conclusion is that its just blatant attempt of scamming just ignore it since there's nothing you can do about it anyway.
Well, not always, people do get airdrops occasionally, and sometimes they get worth way over that 1.5eth amount. But this thing OP posted was an obvious scam.

Op could have just googled it, as when people are getting rich from some airdrop, several medias are writing about it and even then people should double check the official urls and the follow the official method of claiming it. Anything else, or people pm:ing instructions is a 100% scam. Sadly people are falling for these and even if we are getting more idiot proof system, scammers will try to take an advantage on that. And this is nothing new, crypto wallet draining is just more advanced scam from the help desk / gift card scams.

That's either a scam, trash, or a giveaway just for marketing but don't really have value at all.
Lately, I have not seen free NFTs anymore but before they really give away some NFTs that will be used for a game. It's actually free for all because you won't be able to start the game without it or you won't advance at all. So, they make it look like you will inherit an NFT which is a good strategy.
Anyway, when it's as expensive as what you got, I don't think it is real. No business would do that or it will ruin their market. It could've been more convincing if they say you could get it from mining somewhere or loot in a box on some game or something at 0.000001 percent. At least there's a chance and its real.

Obviously its a trap mate. For an easy way to get an nft and worth 1.5eth isnt something you could get your hands on easily. Plus if this kind of nft drop to our wallet and showing unrealistically value then we better think twice. Some coders might program or make it valuable on some monitoring sites or apps ecen without real valuation so always remember if its too good to be true then forget it.

There are some real nfts as well as scam nfts as well. You can identify scam nfts from the contract address. Some of the scam nft will change the nft description with some gift value. If the user tries to claim it, then it will hack your wallet or transfer all the money.

How to check :

1. Check the contract address
2. Check the project
3. If you are not done anything related to that, ignore it.

If you see on the received NFT the address of the website where you will need to exchange it for real money, then this is 100% scam. For tracking such NFT is very good debank.com and I am sure that this service will mark the NFT you received as a scam.

I was certain OP that it was a scam attempt. Well, you can try converting it to fiat money if it is possible but if that will address you a new site that needs to pay something in exchange, definitely that was a big scam. It happens to other people like someone saying they have accidentally sent their token to your wallet and then asking for money so you'd never have to send it back to them. And this scenario can be like that and I believe that NFT has no market value. You have to be careful mate because if you analyze carefully, it was hard to believe someone give you that amount without informing you.

NFT is waste of money, better avoid.
People often buy NFT but can't sell because NFT is very unique, so no one will buy and we will almost always not be able to sell again and we will make a big loss.
Any popular coin, it is easy to sell. NFT sell is not.

I am sure that it is a fraud, but if you are greedy or want to remove the doubt, then withdraw your wallet from any additional balance, and then leave a small fee for gas and try to sell it, either you will not be able to sell it, or at least not at the price of 1.5 ETH, or all the balance in your wallet will be withdrawn, and then you will save the gas fee Which will be less than two dollars.
But it's too good to be true (a scam.)
Same judgment here by the looks of the image. They only use the name Opensea to increase their chance of fooling the people. Being greedy is not a good excuse to try them. We are only helping the scammers that way and interacting on their links is still dangerous even if you think you already know what you are doing.

So, I suggest is to control the urge. There are still legit free NFT's out there but they are not usually easy to get and they mostly came from unpopular names. If you heard one from the famous names, you need to check their social media pages and other accounts. You can also inquire on them to confirm if the giveaway is legit or not.

There are many free NFT traps like this that make someone lose assets in their wallet, so this kind of fraud provides many benefits for scammers. NFTs that are suddenly sent to the user's wallet cannot be sold and usually have to connect to the Daaps that has been provided. But don't ever trust free NFT without any confirmation from the user and there isn't even a task to be able to get it. this is a trap and just ignore it. Don't give way to scammers to make a profit.

Honestly, this is a rare case where you just received such an expensive NFT but before you do something funny about it, just wait for the other's opinion because it might not be you are the only one receiving such a gift because sometimes I also received random tokens from out of nowhere and I don't know what to do with it until later on I found out it was coming from scammers who want to lure their victims to further research about their scam project. But to be fair, I also received back then a random amount of ETH which I sold and I have found no problem about it. nevertheless, just keep it for now and stop thinking about it.

I think in this time many nfts are received in your wallet but this is fake and you try to sell are list nft so 80% chance your wallet are hacked.
But it those nft who is without claiming come your wallet.

Some free nft are give a huge profit and many is that type how can't list and they can't give you profit and go waste its all depends for project..

There's nothing as free and we know that, you'll have to deal with fees before you get them and if you're on a network that has high gas fee that would be frustrating. This one is likely just a scam or will drain your wallet, I'd prefer to not interact on their dapps. This kind of trick has been going around and on Base network you'll see this as well so it's better to be always vigilant.
