If you imagine what you are talking about, then the information about you is now known to everyone, right down to what you eat or what pills you take at night. I've seen a lot of gullible people, and even now, people who put their lives online look like jerks who lack fame. However, even without knowing the basics of online security, one could guess that someday this could happen.
How many years have passed since the hack? Have you suffered any losses? The only thing we can see now is resentment for your lost account. But if you are talking about all the people who lost their accounts and data at that time, do you think everyone is sitting and suffering? It's not hard to guess that most have opened new accounts; why haven't you still done the same and reached your rank on your own?

For everyone else this is called Breaking balls. Yes i have posted BTC addresses from my original account but because the wallets became corrupted i deleted them and i upgraded Comps. For people saying i should be nice or kiss his ass or apologize....I say Why? Who is he ? a God? Are you that pathetic that you need to idolize him and feel you and i need to worship him? Give me a break.

Fact is his shitty foresight allowed Bitcointalk to be hacked and Mine and many thousands of users had our info compromised. So i should be nice about his weak security?

I am with you. If your account was lost to one of the past site-wide breaches, then I do think there is a lack of fault on your part and more fault on bitcointalk than anyone.

Unfortunately though, theymos is the "god" (or, admin, not too different, just minus religion) and if he did it for you, he'd have one hundred thousand other requests to genuinely investigate. From an efficiency standpoint this would be unnecessary. From a fairness standpoint....that's why I'm leaning on your side of the fence over the other.

While I think that it's extremely unlikely that you will get your account back, or a response from theymos, I wish you good luck anyway.

Addressing the topic aside, I agree with SC. Outside of its purpose, it was refreshing to read your topic. The whole online social landscape changed post-2020 and it's a little scary to think how quickly it changed, only until this thread did I think about that fact a little deeper. RIP to the expression through trash talk and emotional realness elements of free speech, both here and around the web once - once abundant, now as scarce btc.

I don't know much about this guy, I mean the OP and maybe you might know so much about him or his old account in this Forum and probably know which rank his old account have reached. I feel the reason why he has been reluctant to get a new account is because he finds it hard to get to that position of the older account, I don't blame him some how as we all know is easy to open a new account but not easy to get to that Sr Member Hero Member or even Legendary Member rank.

How did the database breach lead to your email being compromised, when it only contained the email address and not the password to your email?

If all that other information was compromised from your email account, then it was not secured very well. Are you using 2FA for it?

You can also recover with a PGP fingerprint if you have ever posted one around here.

If you have staked your bitcoin address before or used it anywhere on this forum, you can use it to recover your account.

Let's see how long that freedom's going to be, in my experience, most admins don't really like it when they're the topic of being trolled directly as they have other things to attend to so they just outright blacklist or remove the troll instead of taking the challenge directly which will definitely be time consuming on the admin's part.

Op why choose to take the hard way in meeting your request when you could have quietly regain your account in an easy peasy way. There are laid down process and it can not be compromised to please anyone irrespective how popular that member has been in the forum. If I was to be you and love my account that much I'll take the advise of LoyceV and prove my ownership just to the account end this rat-race.

Staked address is not a must, but it's ideal. The most important requirement is sending the request to recover the account from an email address that was used for registering the account to the forum. Then I think the team that will do some investigations including log in patterns, IP logs to see if there was a change in pattern after the alleged hack.

I am one of the people who recovered my account without a staked bitcoin address.

G'dammit, I missed your reply until just this minute when I was doing a post history review.  OP is probably being humorous, but even if he wasn't and was really and truly pissed at Theymos you're right; it's refreshing that the big boss of the forum you're a member of doesn't have a hair trigger as far as banning members who say the wrong thing (whatever that might be).

The funny thing IMO is that I'm pretty sure Theymos reads a lot of these comments even if he doesn't respond.  It's like he's beyond all of this petty drama going on in the war zone the rest of us are in.
