I have been working with Open Source Miners United on the Bitaxe project as well as Bitmaker and Nerdminers. We had determined that a new solo pool that is super easy to setup and run for yourself would be a great contribution to the community. There is the official site https://web.public-pool.io but I encourage people to download and run it for themselves. It comes with both the stratum server and GUI. All the source is completely open and I welcome any contributions https://github.com/benjamin-wilson/public-pool .

The official site runs off hardware that I have physical control over and only the GUI relies on cloud infrastructure.

People have taken it and made a few derivatives such as vkbit.com and www.nerdminers.de.

Enjoy.

It has been a pleasure to follow the development of public-pool. This is a fantastic project for the open source Bitcoin mining community! I highly recommended giving it a try.

Solo Mining Pool is a great contribution to the modern era. I hope it will be the best invention of 2023. I already shared it with my local Bengali community to find its best users. Keep it up! Here is the local thread link: Click here

Thank you for this service. I am a big fan from Turkey. I always wanted to do mining but it was cumbersome process. I wanted to do mining with old devices but shared pools was not option for that.

But now, we are able to do lotto mining with old devices.

I am pretty sure that it is not a new thing but I recently discovered it and public pool seems most common sense one in options.

This is a really old netbook. Its hashpower is equal to around 15 Nerdminers.

And this is an old Android phone. It equals to around 100 Nerdminers with better efficiency.

Interesting how do you manage to connect these devices into this pool without an ASIC unit?

I have 3 broken old phones and 2 broken laptops that I bought for around 5$ each and I already fixed them and no one in my family wants to use them due to the versions are outdated and slow.
I might be lucky to mine a block reward if I run them for mining so what software or tools did you use? Do you have any guides that you can share?

Of course.

I am sure that you are aware the odds. There is a chance theoretically, but in practice, it is not possible mine. Still, I would bet that; in next 10 years, we will see a CPU mined block. Just for fun. I just put a message about it recently here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5462980.msg63465128#msg63465128

For old PC and Raspberry Pi, I installed Ubuntu Server and have setup cpuminer-multi. I followed this tutorial here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_M13MQQ5GPE&lc=UgxiSCocUAZooN-lFSh4AaABAg

Kudos to him, it is really good one, but I want to prepare a better one on weekend. I will post here if I prepare.

For Android phones, I used aaminer apk. So you need to enable installing apps from unknown source option and install this apk here. https://github.com/aa-miner/aaminer/blob/master/aaminer-1-50-release.apk

It is easy and pretty straightforward app. You just put pool url, address and select algorithm as Bitcoin, and press start mining button and that's it.

But use your own risk about this app. I really do not know what it contains really. Do factory reset the phone, enable guest wifi on your router and disable accessing your actual network in your router setting, connect guest wifi, do not login anything, directly install the app. So, in this way, it will be isolated in your network even if it does any harmful activity. According to Public Pool graphs, it does mining as expected.

About pools: CK Pool seems not accepting non ASIC miners. In logs, it shows as accepting but does not show low hash rate users in the website. This is why Public Pool is a better option for low hash rate mining. It shows all users without any minimum hash rate limit.

Except that tiny hash rate miners are a complete waste of time and an excessive waste of power.
CPU and GPU mining are very good examples of this excessive waste.

With GPUs, to do 130TH/s like a single one of my ASIC miners, that uses about 3.5kW,
you would need 65000 GPUs doing 2GH/s - now if they are crappy GPUs that only use 100W (though they can't do 2GH/s)
that would be 6.5MW of power to do 130TH/s vs 3.5kW ASIC
Yes that 6.5MW would be a ridiculous waste of power.

Meanwhile, 130TH/s only has a 1 in 28871 chance of finding a block in a day.

With CPU mining it's WAY worse.

Mobile phone mining is usually a virus - stay well away from destroying your phone and your battery with mobile phone mining.

... and to top it off, no single CPU or GPU or Mobile mining will earn you any BTC.

Public-pool is now a single click install on Umbrel!! It’s now easier than ever to mine to your own node. Check it; https://apps.umbrel.com/app/public-pool

The Script is on GitHub but the Public-Pool is crashing a lot and support? Arc but i can’t find it anywhere. Also in Discord never get a answer.
Yes it looks good but it’s not really useable

Yep, told everyone but they don't listen, public pool is not maintained. Do you research before start mining in a pool that crashes everyday, 50 000 miners connected are just toys (nerdminers) Wink)))) oh yeah.
What would you expect ...lol 0% fees.
Ha ha ha.

Sorry this should be named prank-pool Wink

So if you want some real SOLO experience and transparency from well maintained pools, go for Kano pool, go with CK pool, go with my pool VK pool.
Don't buy shitty devices like nerdminers, they are a scam, is just marketing (lol lottery miners).
