I do not think cockfighting has much to do with religion. Perhaps, it had something something to do with pagan rituals or Gods before the Era of Christianity, back there in the old continent.

Well, it mostly depends on your definition of "religion" and what your definition of "cult" is. Because, here in the Caribbean regions, it is relatively common to see some people who practice some folk religion which involves the worship on several deities and the sacrifice of animals, from chickens to dogs and cats, in order to gain favor from spirits.

The truth is, to be honest, I thought that this was only seen in the towns that are on these parts of South America. The truth is, I don't see these amenities in Europe, much less in the USA, nor in the most hidden county.
