Privacy is a big and debated topic nowadays, especially for things like bitcoin and digital tech. It's about people having the power to control their personal info, who collects it, how it's used, and how it's kept safe. But when it comes to bitcoin and stuff, privacy isn't easy. There are lots of problems and choices to make, like legal stuff, what's right, how people feel, and the tech side of things.

Seems like privacy might not be around much longer. Cameras are everywhere, watching us in public and even private places. There's this new thing called CBDC's that might replace cash and let people keep an eye on our money stuff. Our data is being taken and used without asking us. We have to do things like KYC for bitcoin exchanges, which might make us less anonymous. And they're even taking our biometrics, who knows why.

People are divided on this. Some think privacy is really important and should be guarded by rules and society. But there are others who don't really mind and think privacy isn't a big deal. So, I created thread to see what everyone thinks about privacy.

Privacy is essential, and those who value it have ways of controlling who actually has vital information about them. Regarding the cameras in public places that capture everyone's movements, those can't be compared to Bitcoin, as those cameras capture your face and any information that you have given to regulatory authorities through licensing or any form of registration that you have done under its government body.

For Bitcoin, privacy can actually be improved as this is based on individuals. Anyone who ever chooses to remain anonymous can maintain that by avoiding reusing addresses, not attaching a name to his or her address, avoiding centralized exchanges that request user data, and using privacy browsers to remain completely private on things you do and where you visit. Sometimes mixing coins in whatever way is necessary to remove the connection attached to your name is also another means.

As for the CBDC, those are no different from any local currency, as their usage is similar to that of mobile banking, except that they have been digitalized but are still under the watch and control of the same government. Unless you just want to increase the use of your local currency to the next level, CBDC is not an option.

Most people simply can't take privacy super seriously. People in general like convenience — and a huge majority of "convenient" things has privacy issues. And it's not really their fault — a lot of privacy apps are pretty difficult to use for the typical person.

In the context of bitcoin — aside from not reusing addresses(which is automatic on some wallets), that's pretty much it. Mixers and coinjoins can be too intimidating. We need something easier.

You can not have 100% privacy in life, but you can make some things about you to be private.

For instance:
Shopping online with bitcoin and delivering the items at your doorstep. That is not privacy at all. But before buying anything online, you mix the coin using a mixer and you use it to order some items online. That does not means some things about you is not private.

There's this new thing called CBDC's that might replace cash and let people keep an eye on our money stuff.
CBDCs are fiat.

It's almost impossible for you to actually blank yourself entirely into privacy because you will always walk out, you will visit friend's and families, so cameras will easily capture you whenever you do that.
but if your emphasis is on financial privacy then bitcoin has the potential to make that possible.
CBDC is government controlled, so if you actually want to be a private person without anybody having a knowledge about your financial activities, then you should be avoiding CBDC's.

I don't think you can have complete privacy in a fiat system because it is under government control, including the CBDC you are referring to because it is also like a fiat that is monitored and controlled by the government.

Doing KYC on Bitcoin and crypto exchanges is your choice because there are alternatives.

Some exchanges do operate without KYC, while if you want to go fully anonymous, just avoid centralized exchanges and buy your Bitcoin through p2p in some No-KYC Exchange or buy from some reputable people you trust in order to avoid submitting any details before accessing your coin.

Privacy is very important, and everyone who knows the value of their privacy will protect it. Only people with less knowledge about privacy show a lack of concern about privacy.

Yes privacy is important for beginners because it's a matter of time the beginner today will become a teacher or learned person and if private details is leaked due to many government procedures like AML-anti-money laundering and kyc procedures of crypto exchanges procedures being asked of users when wrongly stored , may affect the user in question so privacy is very important for all.
This is really an issue because these procedures do not in anyway protect our privacy as someone somewhere get these information and may use it against us and I'd mention few precautions we can take although some are already being fought by government to stop them like already done to Lavabit , the CEO rather shut down the website than give government details of her users but not many will do this now... examples of measures we can take to protect our privacy is
*Every beginner or user should be vast about government laws regarding privacy so that when we're being asked what we're not supposed to give out we'd know and not give out such details

* Use of VPNs is also another means of ensuring privacy although not many countries are in favour of this

*Use of 2-FA mode to ensure our details are not used on our behalf

There are many more and I'm sure we'd learn a lot from this thread. I hope this helps
Digging deep into this post I found out that it's helpful that we verify both beginners for the benefits are actually great and while we do this we should be alert as well

Privacy is important in all parts of life, not strictly confined to cryptocurrency. You should protect your privacy & personal info, financial info etc at all costs. Poor levels of privacy can lead to identity theft, fraud, all kinds of things.

Bitcoin wise, KYC on only a couple of mainstream exchanges & practise self custody. Do not tell people you own bitcoin.

Getting total privacy might not be attainable currently because the world is fiat driven and living totally on Bitcoin is also impossible in some areas. But for those that value privacy, we have our part to play in it. Using a mixer, avoiding centralized exchanges, and maintaining a private life might be helpful. Everybody must not know that you own Bitcoin, let's learn to keep our mouths shut.

Using physical fiat to make payment can promote privacy more than CBDCs but I don't think CBDCs will lead to the eradication of physical fiat. The physical currency will still exist for a long time. To avoid KYCs choose exchanges that don't require them and consider using P2P.

People are in the Bitcoin space for diverse reasons. Some people don't care about their privacy so they wouldn't mind giving out their personal information. Someone told me that he doesn't care about privacy because he has nothing to hide. He is just in the sector to make profit and not to seek privacy. The summary is that If privacy is important to you, you will do everything to get it.

Privacy is important however, the definition of privacy must be channelled to the present world way of life, since the centralized system has made it impossible to have privacy, technically it is impossible to maintain that privacy when it comes to bitcoins since users can not do without centralized exchange. This is a situation is what we will continue to adjust to since there is no present solution. Apart from the tech companies who may have access to some of your information, I think every other means can protected.

Privacy is important to all people but we never know if the beginners in Bitcoin jumping into the Bitcoin bandwagon because of the privacy Bitcoin gives.  Many newbies jump into Bitcoin because they wanted to take advantage of the rising industry.  To get profit from investments and trades.  Only a few individuals that are tech-savvy are into privacy since it needs some technical knowledge to maximize privacy using Bitcoin since we know Bitcoin is not a privacy coins but rather a pseudoanonymous one.

IMO, privacy should be important for everyone, including beginners. Only question is what level of privacy is needed for you. But at least basic things needed for everyone like not giving away your personal details like email, phone number, KYC verifications and etc with easy hand.
Many people don't care about their privacy as they're not doing nothing illegal and have nothing to hide. Others don't give a shit about it just because of convenience. And it's true that trying to hide as much your traces as possible isn't easy and requires quite a lot efforts.
But after all, attitude towards privacy is everyone's free choice.

Privacy is important to all people but we never know if the beginners in Bitcoin jumping into the Bitcoin bandwagon because of the privacy Bitcoin gives.
Bitcoin doesn't really give privacy per se, it all depends on how you actually use Bitcoin. The reason why privacy is a possibility whilst using Bitcoin is because of decentralization, thus you can use it without giving any data/info to a centralized authority which is in control.

The thing now is, how many people actually use Bitcoin in this private way, quite a lot of them know how important privacy is, but i'm afraid they will choose convenience over it, and that is the case for a lot for individuals who are newcomers to Bitcoin. Privacy is important for all and sundry, but only a handful of people pay attention to it.

Privacy in this our present world can't be overemphasized and it's something that's very necessary to living a comfortable peaceful and calm life. For people that have a depth conception of how important privacy is they perpetual take measures to keep their status quo that way, avoiding any KYC related stuffs and with bitcoin that privacy is easily concealed as there are alternate measures like DEX's we can use in executing transactions without handing out our data to any authority.

Quote
Seems like privacy might not be around much longer. Cameras are everywhere, watching us in public and even private places. There's this new thing called CBDC's that might replace cash and let people keep an eye on our money stuff. Our data is being taken and used without asking us. We have to do things like KYC for bitcoin exchanges, which might make us less anonymous. And they're even taking our biometrics, who knows why.

On the issue of CCTV cameras installed across streets, malls and other supposed private places, we can't avoid them because we will have to move out to do businesses but for CEX there's an alternative for those of us that gives priority to our privacy we can make use of DEX's that are kyc free for our financial transactions and also using mixers for our coins. It's our responsibility to keep our privacy safe knowing fully how important it is  to our convenience.

People are divided on this. Some think privacy is really important and should be guarded by rules and society. But there are others who don't really mind and think privacy isn't a big deal. So, I created thread to see what everyone thinks about privacy.
I think for me in the digital world privacy and remaining anonymous is of utmost importance thing. I am one of those people who believe that privacy is very important because in my opinion people who value privacy are people who respect themselves and all the efforts they make.
I dont know how are they or the people who don't really mind or think that privacy is something that is not so important thing. I think they are people who have never felt their personal information was misused for negative interests or even they have never experienced any loss as a result of their personal information being spread either intentionally or unintentionally.

Privacy is very broad and I think it will be very important if op can state the kind of privacy is meant to bring and clear opinion. The street camera has nothing to do with our privacy. It is mostly there for security and for our own safety. It is one of the things that help the crime fighters to detect how a crime was bwwn committed and by who. We all know that in security there is privacy there too. Many people uses  escort and tinted car glasses to protect there privacy from the public so that anybody can to just come to them and breach there privacy.

People are divided on this. Some think privacy is really important and should be guarded by rules and society. But there are others who don't really mind and think privacy isn't a big deal. So, I created thread to see what everyone thinks about privacy.

If we are to be honest, most people have accepted that the privacy that once existed is a thing of the past, and if we look in which countries it is most expressed, then one might be surprised that these are the countries that present themselves as the largest democracies in the world. Their citizens are monitored down to the smallest detail and they obviously don't mind it, because most of them don't protest against it.

Let's take the example of the UK, where the authorities are testing a facial recognition system with the help of AI on the streets, and the system is so "precise" that it results in hundreds of wrong decisions that result in the harassment of ordinary citizens walking the streets. If I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't have believed it, but imagine that they single you out from the crowd and start checking you like a criminal or terrorist, and you can't do anything about it.

Privacy is important to me, but I don't kid myself that I can achieve it to the extent that I would like, because in addition to cameras that are everywhere, we are spied on by our smartphones, computers, smart TVs and every device that is connected to the internet.

Therefore, I would conclude that privacy is a matter of personal choice, and this means that those who want more privacy must be ready to make some concessions in life if they want to succeed in this.

Do you think privacy is important for a beginner?
Privacy is the most important thing for a beginner and it is best that a beginner begins with a privacy life and when they begin to grow in the cryptocurrency industry, they will have more knowledge of privacy and know how to protect their data.

Some persons that are no longer beginners are regretting because they did not have the information of privacy when they we are beginners and they had already exposed their data and personal information before knowing what privacy is all about. But every beginner who is yet to complete kyc with any company and yet to expose their data, if they understand what is privacy and begins from the day one as a privacy person, they will be highly respected and recognised on the long run.

So privacy is best to beginners are not people that have already lost their privacy.

It can be said that we lose our privacy the moment we come online. How many trackers are there? And every year we learn that even by hiding behind VPNs and using various expensive anti-detection browsers, we remain visible to surveillance systems. In the same way, a newcomer who, as a rule, speaks about himself on social networks takes the side of those who, by and large, are useless to talk about their privacy. Using mixers, we still withdraw money for those details that may already be known to those who are able to detect them.
It is possible to create a second life on the Internet that is completely different from our real one, but in doing so, we will need to lose so many conveniences, the use of which forever leaves an imprint on us on the Internet. And from there, as everyone knows, nothing is removed.
Ban your kids from the internet and move to the desert; then they can dream of privacy.

So, I created thread to see what everyone thinks about privacy.

now I'm sure there are quite a lot of people who don't really care about their privacy anymore. when you install the application on your smartphone, there are several requests from the application to access the smartphone such as contacts and also access pictures, and you agree.
with regards to exchange, however, if we want it easier and do feel comfortable with it all. The KYC that is requested according to the regulations set by the exchange will not be a difficult thing for the trader.
nowadays I believe more people are less concerned about their personal data. maybe contradictory regarding the anonymity that is in Bitcoin. but the end user has to be forced to get easier and more convenient access. we cannot talk about the security of our data. all is not in our control. even the risk of data hacking can also occur.
