Hello all question

How does a person validate an antminers progress solo mining bitcoin ?

Sure I can see has rate but how do I know its actually working / mining lol ? Maybe its just a heater lol ?

Secondly how to get several antminers to work solo on same block ?

Thx !!

If you can access the miner you should be able to check if the miner is working or not and to check if it's actually mining you can keep an eye on the reported hashrate in the pool.

To mine on the same block when mining solo you should point all your miners on the same account.
Sample you are mining solo in solo.ckpool.org when configuring your all miners you should use the same account.

Code:
Pool: stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333
User: Your-BTC-Address.0
Pass: x

Ok very good thanks ok I understand and can check and see my hasrate increases with each miner added on CK pool directed to same BC address so I seem to understand that !

What I struggle with is understanding how close a block is to completion ?

Hasrate is a flow / or volume ....But am i really getting anywhere is what Id like to know lol ?? ie 25 % complete or near Or anything to suggest its just not a heater lol.

I picture somone in  a back room throwing darts and this is all imaginary lol

Thanks all !!

So what I think you mean is that you want to see the progress during solving a block?.

On the Ckpool solo, I do not see or any indicator that determines how close a miner is to solving a block. Maybe other mining pools have an indicator where you can monitor the progress while solving a block.

Actually, if you are mining solo in ckpool you don't need to worry about solving the block because what you need to do to get rewarded is to find a block. Please read the solo ckpool page.

With ckpool, you can see how much hashrate you're contributing at https://solo.ckpool.org/users/((YOUR_POOL_USERNAME))

You can view the pool-wise hashrate here: https://solo.ckpool.org/pool/

However, you can't see how "close" you are to finding a block, in the sense of you find a hash with N leading 0's ... but just short of finding a valid block hash. I've seen that view in Nicehash's solo mining / Easymining product, it could be a nice feature for someone to contribute to ckpool.

What I struggle with is understanding how close a block is to completion ?

This isn't how mining works, there is no such thing as progress or completion in bitcoin mining (solo or not), I understand the confusion is coming from those online calculators that say you need x time to solve x block, but simply put -- you are just misunderstanding the concept.

To make a long story short, mining is just random guessing, there is a certain hash/number that nobody knows, and your miner is just randomly brute forcing those hashes hoping to get one that solves the block, and every independent share has the exact same chance of hitting blocks, the more shares you submit the more likely to hit a block, blockchain has no memory and your previous hashing means nothing so every share you submit is a whole progress on its own.

Ok Thanks Im slowly getting it So Major question !!??

Does the Bitminer have to stay on and hashing during its entire efforts to complete a block chain  ?? Ie if power goes out when solo mining are all prior efforts lost ?

Is there an accumulation of equation solved that would be lost during a power outtage for example ?

Would the answer be different if in a pool ?

Thx !

No when you are mining solo, until you find a block you own nothing. You will have the stats available on your ckpool worker's webpage, but it's only for your own curiosity. It's just totally random when you talk of solo mining.

Look at this sentence in mikeywith's answer :
Quote
blockchain has no memory and your previous hashing means nothing so every share you submit is a whole progress on its own

Of course your Antminer needs to be powered on to be able to hash

Would the answer be different if in a pool ?

You should have a look on the different btc mining payout's methods, this link could help you : PPS vs. FPPS vs. PPLNS vs. PPS+ - Mining Pool Payouts

There are no equations in mining, you are not solving any sort of equations, you simply are guessing some random numbers and waiting to get lucky,  it is like rolling a dice, imagine you want to get 6 on a dice, the more you try the more likely you get 6, same with mining the more you try the more chances, if you want to stop at any moment it is fine, your future attempts are NOT related to your past at all.

When you mine solo there are no prior efforts of any value.

spin a wheel 1 to 50.

you only win on the number 13

all your past spins have no meaning

just your current spin.

mine at ckpool all that counts is you current share number generated. is it over 53trillion

yes you get a block

no you get nothing.

I am mining at a pool say ckpool  1 ph of hash means I should hit a block in about 2700 days.

but I could hit it in
a minute
a week
a month = really good luck
 a year = good luck

 a decade = bad luck
a century = really bad luck
