I've been using Coinomi on mobile for years, for small amounts of different coins (amongst other things claiming Forkcoins). I know Coinomi is closed source, but for small amounts I don't mind.
Coinomi's last update in the Google Play Store was on March 19, 2022. Monero for instance has been broken since the network was upgraded a year ago. Coinomi never upgraded their support for the coin.
I can't find much about it online. The website still works, but their onion site doesn't.
It looks like they've abandoned the project but left some existing servers running.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

Their subreddit paints a similarly bleak picture: https://www.reddit.com/r/coinomi. Lots of posts of people being unable to spend coins, unable to sync, getting a variety of error messages, etc. The comment section for each of those posts is just filled with spam.

Also no activity on their Twitter accounts for over a year.

I would say it's a good result all round that the wallet has collapsed. A closed source wallet which sends seed phrases over the internet in plain text to Google has no right to continue to exist. I would suggest everyone uses their back ups to sweep their coins to a better wallet.

Any suggestions which multicoin wallet to use instead? One of the main reasons I'm still using Coinomi is because I have had it installed for years. I don't like installing new software (because every app can be a risk). But I guess it's time to move on.

Use Unstoppable wallet, which is open source.

You are an expert already and you know what close source wallets are. If you need another alternative, use Trustwallet if the coins you are looking for is not on Unstoppable wallet.

Close source wallet are not recommendable.

Unstoppable wallet is open source and you can also use it with passphrase to extend your seed phrase. But one issue with it is the syncing issue which is obvious with bitcoin and litecoin on the wallet.

Coinomi gained popularity after bitcoin hardforks. They presented themselves as a simple option where all you need is to fork out your wallet, withdraw bitcoin from private key, import it into the wallet and you will be able to get the hardforks, but their actions did not indicate that they will last. You need to trust them because you depend on their servers, they dont encrypt data to servers and yet they are WARNING - Coinomi Wallet CRITICAL Vulnerability Made Me Lose My Life Savings

With so many options and no interest in hardforks the project will turn out to be a dead project.

There is no one perfect wallet for all altcoins/multcoins. Use the NEW wallet for Ethereum and the Unstoppable wallet for other altcoins. You may need other options if you do not find supported coins in the Unstoppable wallet.

You surely know better than to ask me that question. Here's my solution: Electrum for Bitcoin and Monerujo for Monero. Sell all your shitcoins for one of these two. Tongue

Have you considered Unstoppable Wallet? Which is open source multi-crypto available on both Android and IOS.

But I don't see monero in their supported coins list - https://www.cryptowisser.com/wallet/unstoppable-wallet/coins?page=1

If its especially for monero then consider these
Quote
1. Monerujo ( android wallet )
2. Cake wallet ( android wallet )
3. Mymonero (Android& PC )

Similar thing happen on their play store (Android) if you sort it's review by newest date. Although Coinomi still have 4.5 stars and play store decide to show old review with 4-5 stars.

I remember you mention you have hardware wallet. Default software which comes with hardware wallet usually support many altcoin. So if my memory is correct, why don't you just use that hardware wallet?

Your thread reminded me to check on my old Coinomi wallet which is still on my phone from back in the days when I sent some "aspiring" privacy coins to it thinking they might boom in the future. What an idiot. Grin Anyways, the app loads and syncs just fine. I thought it didn't because it was showing Bitcoin at $27.5k. I thought the wallet went nuts as I haven't checked the price today at all. Turns out there was decent pump today.

The choice of altcoin wallet would depend, you guessed it, on the altcoins you have. I doubt you own that many, so I think you will get by by installing official releases by those projects. I often need Tether, for example. My Ledger does the job for that, and if I need it when on the go then TronLink Pro has everything I need.

It looks like they've abandoned the project but left some existing servers running.
They are still a bit active in Coinomi Official Telegram, they posted about Coinomi web wallet, so they are still working on something, but I don't see much activity on twitter and other social media.

I wouldn't risk using them anymore when there is solid open source multicoin alternatives like Unstoppable.money wallet or Komodo wallet.
They even have swap exchanges integrated that works much better than in Coinomi wallet, but I don't think they support monero.

There is one more less known mobile wallet that supports Bitcoin with monero and other privacy coins, and it's called Stack wallet1.
Second one is called Cake wallet2, that is also open source, but use them both at your own risk:

1) https://stackwallet.com/
2) https://cakewallet.com/

I think you will get by by installing official releases by those projects.
I use a few Electrum Forks for Forkcoins (obviously only in a VM, as I don't trust them).

For Monero, I don't need to keep it on mobile. That was only out of convenience, not because I need it on the go. So Monerujo won't work. I tried the full wallet once (on a server), and it's much more resource intensive than Bitcoin Core, so that's not an option either. GetMonero has some options. As much as I like CLI, I won't use it for a wallet. That leaves Cake Wallet or Feather (or web wallets, but I won't go there). Cake Wallet exists in Beta for Linux, which leaves Feather Wallet. I'll install this (in a VPN, of course) and recover my private key from Coinomi.

FWIW, Feather Wallet also could have slow sync since it download check all block from specific block height (either when the wallet created or first time you receive Monero) due to privacy purpose[1].

[1] https://docs.featherwallet.org/guides/synchronization
I've had that with "Bitcoin Wallet" on Android, restoring my old backup took more than a day on my old phone. It's okay, I haven't been able to use it from Coinomi in about a year, so I'm in no rush.

Outside of the XMR Coinomi does seem to work for a lot of people. If you check their Telegram there are people there with some minimal support as @dkbit98 said.
I use Coinomi for just about all my shitcoins. Which I do have a bunch of.

But, I still maintain that with all things like this your phone should be worth more then the coins stored on it since it's a HOT wallet.
Bit different with a PC, but the concept remains the same. Except for some minimal things why are you storing any real funds in something that is not protected by a hardware wallet?

Edit: I'm using 'you' in general, not directed towards any one person.

-Dave

I wouldn't risk using them anymore when there is solid open source multicoin alternatives like Unstoppable.money wallet or Komodo wallet.
I was wondering why I haven't heard of the Komodo wallet and remembered that there was an altcoin with the same name. No idea if it's still alive today. After a bit of research, I realized that AtomicDEX rebranded and changed its name to Komodo Wallet. Their new website is very weird. Many times when you click on something, it wants to download Komodo documents to your computer. They don't have a page that clearly explains all supported coins and tokens, though. It was the same with AtomicDEX.

If you don't need to use it smartphones than Feather wallet is fine monero wallet especially for people who are familiar with Electrum, it has almost identical gui design and menus.
I never tried using Cake wallet (I remember they had one serious bug), but I think anything is better than Coinomi.

After a bit of research, I realized that AtomicDEX rebranded and changed its name to Komodo Wallet. Their new website is very weird. I wrote about that in different topic, they rebranded and made things a bit more complicated and confusing for everyone.

Any suggestions which multicoin wallet to use instead?
You surely know better than to ask me that question. Here's my solution: Electrum for Bitcoin and Monerujo for Monero. Sell all your shitcoins for one of these two. Tongue

And no Ethereum  Huh I thought this could be the third one in the list too.

Have you considered Unstoppable Wallet? Which is open source multi-crypto available on both Android and IOS.

For the altcoins and shitcoins Unstoppable wallet is the best, far better than the trust wallet.

It looks like they've abandoned the project but left some existing servers running.

The first thing which i did after reading your post, was to open my Coinomi wallet on my Android phone, check if I had any little bit of balance in that wallet, find none and uninstalled it.

In my early bitcoin days, I used to download any wallet I heard was good and sometimes also transfer Bitcoin/altcoin to them. This is not a good approach as it is very difficult to keep track of all the wallet updates if you have many wallets with you. Like in this case, Coinomi stopped upgrading the wallet and you never know they may close the service one day.
