It seems like many of us are experiencing the same thing. I have a lot of shit tokens in my wallet that I got from bounties and airdrops. However, if it's for investments purchased with my own money, it seems like I've been in Shiba Inu and SUN. I think it was my worst purchase and to this day they are still there. I don't know whether it will be really good or not in the future. Don't focus too much on altcoins, it's better just on Bitcoin. That's my experience so far.

There's more shitcoins to invest in and reap solid profits within days of investment, as long as we're in memecoins season, chances of exploring and generating massive profits become very accessible. Talking about Shiba Inu, it was one of the shitcoins I've invested, though I made quite good figures from the project, you can only complain when you made nothing besides you might have trigger an entry in Shiba Inu when it's already late and influential whales have removed their profits, I think that was the specified moment you enter the market and saw completely zero profits to depend on. I did invest in lots of altcoins and i received many tokens from bounties as reward. I experienced that, most of the tokens turns into shitcoin or dead after a few months. Some Altcoins performed very good for a certain time then all of those lost 90-95% of values and still traded on exchange with so called volume. Thus process is continued. Even top altcoins also replaced by new altcoins. 2017 vs 2023.

Moral: I think BTC and ETHEREUM is better option for investment, Can be trusted blindly, profitable for long. Low Ranked Altcoins, Memecoins and shitcoins are just headache and reason of huge losses in long time. But anyone can invest his money wherever they want.

Investing with Bitcoin and Ethereum as well needs to be done in the long term if you must be profitable enough in either of them, although they both look very safe and good for investing in the long term they can some times make you loose some money if you invest in them for the short term but still they don't turn out worse as other meme coins which can be frustrating in some cases. Personally I see investing in meme coins as gambling because these coins can turn out dead at any time.

This is true for only those project that are backed by VC and are doing good in terms of development. This forum had many good altcoin project that still exist in the market though their price isn't that great right now. As an example if you have received tokens from bounty campaigns like DIA, Cartesi, HEX, SOV then you are at a loss right now as the price of all these tokens rose pretty high in the last bull market, but right now it is sitting at its bottom. If you have received token in a bull season then it will be profitable to sell off those alts as their price can be pretty bad in the bear market.

I agree with you, if you look at the top 10 data from 2016 - 2023 on cmc you will see how much change there has been in altcoins, everything is changing and shifting, some are still there but are in the top 100, some are quite good like xrp. but on average it will die within a few years. but the king remains in first position until now, I agree that BTC and Eth are the right choice for the largest portfolio proportion.

Wrong, Ethereum isn't a safe token and can be trusted without you know the token. If you check it more deeply, Ethereum's developers are holding a lot premined ETH to enrich themselves. With the move from POW to POS, this make ETH become more centralized.

No matter how we look at it, after BTC, the next available coin to be trusted is Ethereum. Forget all the stories of centralisation and the rest, a common man investing in either BTC or ETH does not care if it is decentralized or not, what they want is the profit of their investment in a short or long term.
Talking about the alleged pre-mined ETH, doe it in any way stop the price of ETH from rising when it's supposed to? If you were to be the creator of ETH, will you not premine some coins for yourself?
Have you checked the Satoshi addresses, what do you have to say about the amount of BTC in the addresses?

In summary, Ethereum has proven to be the king of Altcoins and is widely trusted.

how can someone dislike something they have no knowledge about?

everyone should have a clean slate when approaching any cryptocurrency bitcoin was once a newly launched project too but those who believed in it and invested in it got big profits now how can you spot a potentially good project if you already have negative idea about all of them without even bothering to check it out

i guess because there are so much altcoins out there people are naturally not interested because they would have to put so much work instead of just focusing on bitcoin

I can not agree with your statement because in my opinion bear season is the right time to invest and bull season is to take profit. As an investor do you wants to buy bitcoin when its in the dip or you buy it at its peak? The choice is easy and reasonable. The more time passes and the market gets close to the bull season you will lose your chance to enter the market early. There is a long accumulation zone in the bear market and what i think is millions is being made in bear market because they invest in quality project when the price is quite low and book profit when everyone buying the top.

It is common knowledge that meme coins can make you rich suddenly and poor quickly, if you don't follow the movements of these coins.

Investing in BTC is the safest choice when it comes to crypto investment. It also has its own risks but they are not as severe as other altcoins. Altcoins that are reputable and have created a name in the industry could be considered as an investment asset but always proceed with caution. And when we talk about new altcoins that have popped up recently and have no background, they should be ignored.

Don't get me wrong, people are still making profits out of them. But those coins last for a few days or months based on the hype and trend created my the people and investors. When the trend and hype are gone, they will be gone too. If you are able to take advantage of the situation, only then you should invest in those altcoins. If not, then try to stay away form them.

But you can't neglect rest of altcoins cause those are also important, many of those also have real uses and do contributions for us. We did need to purchase those potential altcoins not shitcoins. They both are a choice of many but, their existing price makes them not an easy investment. In the meantime, there are other altcoins that are similar to Ethereum that have good potential. From my knowledge, I would go for Solana, Cardano, and BNB, all three of them have the potential to pump as well as generate good profit for any investors. They have seen their best low after 2021 and by 2025 they will achieve their highs, if or unless there is an issue. Looking back before 2021 many cryptocurrencies had huge potential, thanks to the development team they became obsolete and no one is ready to invest in them. As said by many and there are data to prove it almost 98% of cryptocurrencies are now redundant.

99% of the contemporary projects goes to become nothing. In most cases it's wiser to dump you bounty coins as soon as you can in exchange of some top level coins. Though some coins becomes a success and could bring more profit than you expect.
Btc and eth are good options but there are a hundred more coins that I believe could perform better than btc and Ethereum in long term as well as short term.

Projects that run bounty campaigns and generally use free advertisement methods to promote their products and services barely become successful projects and you will usually see them dying off within a year from their release because they don't get substantial attention from the industry and thus they lack the funds to continue with their developments which becomes the reason for them to call it off even if they didn't have planned things that way.

That's why, one should never invest in projects that they see in bounty sections or those giving away a few tokens to every user for free as an airdrop because a good project with a good roadmap and a foolproof plan wouldn't have to rely only on such methods of advertisement and they will succeed even without them.

In general, many think that crypto is an all in money making get rich get-rich-quick scheme. They're all wrong, although crypto is also being used by these frauds but the actuality of it is very different from what they're expecting. One only realized the lesson after incurring a lot of losses, and that's the nature in every investor. If only majority of people do not trust low ranked altcoins, then people will not experience massive losses but only profitable gains. However, just like what you've said, your money, your rules. And committing losses is not actually bad, it could only make us realized that there's no good investing in random altcoins but focus only in bitcoin and ethereum.

But for beginners in the crypto market, I suggest you focus first in bitcoin but only invest on the amount you can afford to lose. Once you're in profits, you can also add ethereum on your portfolio so you can maximize your opportunity investing and being profitable in the crypto market.
