It's good to know that you are planning to build perhaps the next of the few open source multichain wallets we know. We surely need more or them to break the closed source wallet dominance.

However, most open source project tend to struggle and some even get abandoned probably due to no funding for development or lack of interest (no funds to advertise the project/wallet, so most users may even never know about its existence)

What is your plan on over coming such hurdles, especially from the financial angel?
How will the open source non-custodial wallet tap into the popular gaming industry to profit out of it, or is yours going to be a non-profit project?

One of the most challenging parts of running an open-source project is monetization. It is hard to tackle, but I have some ideas. The wallet software can be open source, and I believe I can find some creative ways to create premium services for pay.

First, I must validate this idea with more crypto-gaming communities.

Please do not hesitate to dissect the idea and dish out your opinion about this project.
I liked your principle, but the problem lies in scalability. Such wallets must be written well from scratch because the more crypto they support, this means that the size of the code will increase and the synchronization time will increase,  it is rare to find such wallets written by a single developer or a specific purpose.
You can avoid this by making the UI focus on something specific like gaming and having all the work in the background similar to an unstoppable wallet.

Things I would like to see:

 - Full control over fees and the ability to modify them.
 - Good prediction of fees.
 - The possibility of extracting the private key for each address on each blockchain.

I'm not aware of any Bitcoin games other than chess: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHwgr8gzzT0

...but since your opponent can "cheat" (by using a computer to defeat you), then there's no point in ever playing.

You can use Bitcoin privately without giving up custody: https://mempool.space/tx/d465033214fd2309dcce5a90c45fcaa788aa4394ee36debe07aad8d8a37907d2

If it is something that will benefit the community especially gamers then why not, Tell us first who you are what are your skills, and what are your past and present projects, The Majority of top wallets in the industry have their companies and names of their developers attached to the wallets they created.

If I am creating an open-source wallet, these are very valid questions to be answered.

I am a software engineer with 18 years of experience. I started as a system administrator and taught myself how to code. I am an expert in Python, React, and JavaScript. I strongly believe in open-source software and benefited a lot both personally and professionally. I even had some small contributions to OpenStack, but it was not big enough to be mentioned anywhere.

I could not make many contributions to the open-source community. Now I plan to change my stand on this matter and start contributing.

Currently, I have a day job as a developer in a successful startup.

I am not sure if the above experience is good enough for the community to trust me but they are good enough for me to start such a project.

It's not really about your reputation but more about your ability to make reliable software. And in the case of wallets, secure as well.

All you have to do is make the wallet (presumably it will have Web3 which all crypto games use to connect to wallets), and advertise it in places, and that's how your wallet will become a reliable and trusted name.

There are a few successful open-source projects that have found ways to sustain themselves while keeping their core software open and free.
Though it can be indeed challenging to monetize an open-source project like wallet software, but IMO, it's not impossible as you have these transparencies and securities, the last part of which is building trust in the community would be a great idea.

Anyway, it seems this is a good proposal of yours, good luck and hoping for your success.

You should look for a sponsor There are platforms that are willing to sponsor new innovation, In your case since you are specifically creating a wallet for gamers your sponsor should be in the gaming industry, you should first present your idea to your potential sponsor not necessary a company but a gaming community, you can, in fact, do crowdfunding from gamers if you are a well-known guy in the gaming industries you will not have a hard time getting sponsors.

You're doing good by asking for feedback from the gaming and Crypto community, update us for the feedback and development of your project.

According to the latest report from market analyst Newzoo on World Games Market 2022, the number of gamers worldwide this year reached 3.2 billion. The massive number of gamers is said to have succeeded in earning $196.8 billion
SOURCE-- Google

gaming has a very large market, if you manage to get some then you can get a very large profit (from users and investors)

There's no problem developing a wallet for gamers as long as the wallet is open-source and proven safe by other trusted developers.

There are many developers that I think already did this idea but if you can make it unique like a wallet that can be used offline/airgap and connect games through a QR code then I'm sure many users or gamers will be attracted to use this.

It seems that the web3 wallet already has ideas and concepts like this, but the majority have kept the seed phrase, so I agree with you, if OP is able to make an open-source wallet for gamers, then the chances of success are greater.

We must differentiate between the gaming industry, which represents profits in billions of cycles, and the crypto games industry, which represents part of this industry. I do not know what is the share of cryptocurrencies in it, but it is definitely not billions of dollars, and allocating a wallet for games will only be possible in cooperation with game developers so that it performs more functions than The regular wallet does what it serves as a gateway to these games.
I don't know if there are games based entirely on blockchain, but most cryptocurrencies are saying things that you cannot implement in reality AND HERE I MEAN web V3.

At the moment, there is a distinct separation between the crypto gaming industry and the gaming industry. The crypto gaming industry has approximately a 7 billion dollars market cap. But this does not mean this separation will stay this way. The gaming industry is trying to integrate blockchain and cryptocurrencies into their ecosystem but they are not able to find any use case or utilization. But I firmly believe this will change in the next couple of years.

The idea of a wallet/community that would act as a gateway to crypto gaming or games that utilize cryptocurrency sounds quite promising. Maybe I should start building the community and the gateway first.

There are definitely a need for wallets, where the owner of the wallet can "sign" their own address... with their own private key. I have a lot of friends that signed up for faucets or casinos ..with wallets from custodial wallets, where they do not have access to the private keys.. and then they want to change the address, but the service wants them to sign the Bitcoin address as proof that they owned the current address... which they cannot do.  Huh

Will your wallet offer the owners of that address, the feature to sign their addresses?  Huh

There is an open-source project called https://walletconnect.com. WalletConnect adapter lets your app connect apps or dapps easily and is supported by almost all major players in the industry. Implementing this will solve most of the connection problems.

At the base level, my wallet is not different than other multichain wallets. That was one of the things that discouraged me from starting this project. Why would people use my wallet when great and popular wallets can do almost the same thing? But, end-users love shortcuts and usability. If the wallet can solve a pain point of end-users, they use it.

I received some valid feedback from gamers who play blockchain games. I asked them which wallet they use, and we ended up discussing a wallet that could support some of the blockchains that are not supported by major wallets. The other feedback was that they had to use different wallets for different games. I am still trying to validate this idea with other cryptocurrency gaming communities. (That is why I am chatting with you guys in here Smiley)
These are several interesting points, but in my personal opinion, you must first convince game companies to use your wallet before convincing players. Most games use popular wallets and give the option of connecting two or three wallets, and players cannot choose a different wallet by their personal choice.

Other gaming companies make their own wallet and force players to use only their custom wallet and have no other choice.

In order for your wallet to be widely accepted it should have the highest number of gaming chains as well as low fees and ease of use.

I think you actually wanted to say "to support your wallet..." rather than "to use your wallet...". Company usually use different wallet software since it need some specific business feature (e.g. can handle million address without lagging or assign an address to a customer).

Other gaming companies make their own wallet and force players to use only their custom wallet and have no other choice.

For better or worse, there aren't many gaming company who can afford and willing to spend money for that.
